It's really not that hard to get Ubisoft Connect working in Game Mode, but yeah I get it.
It's not hard but it is annoying, can have some issues and i don't want to waste any more time on things like that.

I actually have to admit that I like Konosuba. It does just enough to make fun of isekai tropes for me to be able to appreciate it. Of course, I also like time and resource management in games, so in principle, this actually appeals to me. But sadly, neither the page nor the media on there does anything to convince me that this is actually a decent game rather than just a license cashgrab.

You should give Honkai Star Rail a shot. I hear it's quite good. Even won an award or two :p

Seriously though, I've been playing Dave the diver and it's a surprisingly fun and deep game. Looks very nice on the deck too.

I feel like everyone only talks about that one game. But not the ones that I mentioned for some reason.
I'm not really sure about their love for controversies since outside of Duel Princess and Beat Refle all of their games released without big issues
Personally considering the price I think their games offer a good deal for what they are. It's obvious that, excluding their VNs (which are actually fully 18+ if "patched"), the devs take every chance they can to sneak a pantyshot, or a convenient ripped clothes scene, but the games are still decent. Beat Refle's music is good and the rhythm gameplay is competent (which isn't easy to get right the first time). The 2 Livestream feel like obvious homages to the original Clock Tower being mixes of horror and point & click. Their VNs are typical pure love moeges. The JP voice acting is good and the artists are obviously talented
Ultimately they know their audience and they serve them well within their budgets. It beats going out of business simply to chase an audience that obviously doesn't care about what you can provide

This looks great. I hope they also get the chance to release such a remaster for the other 3 "classic" TR games eventually.

Hmm. In that Portal 2: Confinement mod it has single player as a feature, how does that work in a mod build around co-op? I guess you just swap between the two players since the other one is always trapped anyway so there are no timing related puzzles?
:thinking-face:

I think I'll check it out.

AstLibra has definitely captured the early Ys mindless grinding magic.
I spend so much time killing the same mobs in the same screens and... I love it.

And the plot is going places.

Hi guys! I have been disconnected from this site (and other gaming news) for a few weeks, because I became frustrated by shitty things that happen(ed) in the games industry. This frustration was caused mostly by billion dollar companies doing shitty things, but also by the increasing number of people supporting these companies anyway. After all, the main reason these companies are still doing shitty things, is because people are giving them money so they can keep doing it. This continues to disappoint me, because these shitty things affect lots of gamers, including myself.

Anyway, I really missed you guys and these excellent metasteam threads, which have been the best pc-gaming related news source for me for years. Thank you Mor for making these threads and thank you all for your long-term contribution! :blobevening:

is out

Still curious what version is censored, Switch one or the others?.

Edit:
Just someone pointed those images on X, I cannot confirm since I didn't still downloaded de Switch version, but the other editions (Steam included) are censored. I'm curious if Switch got the uncensored version or all of them are censored.

EDIT 2: looking at eShop screenshots is censored on Switch too:

I don't know why people are so hostile towards subscriptions. For me it's a better and cheaper form of renting games and it is a great way of having access to lots of games for very little money. If something like Game Pass was available back when I was a kid I would be over the moon.

The median player buys like 4 or less games a year so at that point the value proposition is kind of gone.

Subs are fine, but people don't want a repeat of Netflix. It was great when 'everything' was in there, until every studio wanted their own sub.

There's multiple things with subscriptions:

  • Having a deadline on finishing games (either when you are to poor to continue subbing or games leaving), that can stress people out
  • There being multiple different sub services
  • Long games (Persona, Yakuza, JRPGs, WRPGs) and endless games (roguelikes, sandbox games etc.) not fitting to be played on a sub service
  • Increase in price (more studios being bought, games costs more and take longer to make)
  • People already having huge backlog of owned games from before, which does not give them time for games on a sub service
  • Some people may feel a psychological press to play games they are not all that interested in just because the game is on a sub service or worse, is leaving soon on the sub service, instead of playing games they own and actually wanna play

as far as they let people to "own" the license and not make sub the only way to play, no problem for me. If it's an optional feature it's great for people who want to try or play multple games and don't care about their libraries, but make this system mandatory or with exclusive games? hell, no.
I don't want to live in a world where something Apple arcade is where publishers release their games. (one the games I have on my radar is Fantasian Steam release).

I'm not shocked that subs aren't taking off. They appeal to hardcore gamers only but at the same time also puts many of us off because we tend to prefer owning stuff and are wary of business trends influencing our games. As for casuals why would having access to 300 games be a selling point to them? The biggest issue facing the industry today is that most casuals live inside a tiny handful of (mostly) already f2p games that they play forever and never deviate from those games. You're trying to sell them access to games they don't care about with subs.

I don't know why people are so hostile towards subscriptions. For me it's a better and cheaper form of renting games and it is a great way of having access to lots of games for very little money. If something like Game Pass was available back when I was a kid I would be over the moon.
We've seen what it does to other media forms. We know that the companies behind subs use analytics to change how media is handled (songs trying to hook you more in the first minute, netflix cancelling shows after 1 or 2 seasons no matter how popular they tend to be because they have data that says people's attention drifts away after that). We don't want to see this happen to games and I'd argue you can already see it with MS' own games. If you actually check the amount of live service games that MS has it's pretty staggering. Yes they inherited some from bethesda/activision (I'd argue that's the whole reason they wanted those companies to begin with) but even their own games you have halo and MCC, the gears games, both forza types are GaaS, the age of empire games, state of decay 2, sea of thieves and it just goes on and on.

Despite what MS says about subs encouraging everything (and lets be honest MS says a lot of things, some they've had to admit were BS in court like GP not hurting sales), there is no refuting that they benefit the most from live service games not SP games you can essentially rent a month of GP for and finish them off. The goal is to keep you subbed and the easiest way to do that is hook you onto live service games.

Yes as a kid I would have gone nuts for something like gamepass...or even having a backlog to begin with back then, but as a kid I didn't know about the industry or care about the ramifications of my decisions. Now I know the consequences things like this will bring if it was the dominant form of distribution. I'm not a fan of short term/immediate gain at the expense of my future entertainment. I'd rather keep paying for games.

Yeah, as long as it's just another option, I'm fine with subscriptions. Initially I was afraid it would lead additional monetizing schemes in games, but this was about to happen anyway, subscriptions or not.

A subscriptions service killed my entire family line. I'm the last one remaining.

Anyway, me and my friend group is weird.

We LOVE playing quiz games. On PS5 we have:

Monopoly
Trivial Pursuit (Our favourite)
Family Feud
Wheel of Fortune

Then for browser stuff we play:
guesstheaudio
guessthegame
framed.wtf

We also play Rifftrax/What The Dub with me streaming it on Discord as they can play in a browser window to input answers

Are there any other games like this we may have missed? Be it Playstation, a browser game or something I can stream that they can then input answers on their phone or web browser?

Jackbox Party Packs? There’s 10 of them and we (me and a few friendship groups/family) have a riot playing them.

They’re a bit edgy though, and designed around being controversial, so that may not be the vibe you’re looking for.

4-7 are our favourites, but you’ll have a good time with any version of it.
