I've been reading through the thread on Era and I have to wonder if one of the reasons why console fanboys argue about this is due to resentment? The fact that they see what they perceive to be "their" games going to PC, a platform which has access to third party games, Xbox, and now Playstation games. Add the fact that we don't have to pay for online multiplayer or cloud saves I wonder if they feel as though they made a poor investment?
That’s what happen when your personality has been replaced with consumerism

I am running into a strange issue when visiting Steam pages. Using Firefox, on Linux,

Images show up as this static logo, until I click on them, then they load in properly. I first assumed this was something that Augmented Steam was doing, but it happens even with the extension off. Anyone else ever see this behaviour?

Are any of the Steam CDN servers being blocked via some privacy settings or plugin?

It's not blocked, it loads in when I click on it. I tried turning off the Enhanced Tracking Protection in Firefox, and it does not affect this, and store.steampowered.com is excepted from Firefox privacy settings. I checked if there's any extensions that could mess with this, and there's none. uBlock doesn't detect anything on Steam and I don't have any other extensions that I would expect to mes with the contents of Steam (outside of Augmented Steam)

I just checked here, Manjaro Linux (latest everything), Firefox that I barely use, so its all on default settings, and everything seems to load fine. Is there mabye a setting for low bandwidth that will only load images when clicked?

I bought Marvel's Midnight Suns during the recent sale, and goddamn this is a cool game!

I was so stoked for it before launch, before I learnt of the card game aspects, which for me was an instant turn off. So I pretty much ignored it at launch.

But this game is really, really cool.

Well done, Firaxis.

You know what I have to give credit where credit is due.

Sony for the most part, just like Xbox has done a pretty good job with PS+, and some other service stuff.

I was impressed when I first got my XSX back in 2020 and being able to not only download RDR but also able to just load my old Xbox360 file even though I have not had Xbox Gold in years, they just kept my save file on their servers and didn't delete it. That's nice.

Now let's talk about Sony, I just loaded up Ico on my PS5 as part of PS+ Premium (basically PS Now) and to my surprise it loaded up my Ico save file from like 6-7 years ago. I am not 100% sure but I believe that save file is from when I briefly played the game on my Cousins PS3 and it just saved the file. It was either that or I played the game a bit on PSNow on my Vita when I had a trial. Which would actually make more sense since it just says the save file has 30 minutes of play time and I remember playing more than that on the PS3.

Point being they didn't delete my PSNow could saves which, is nice. Even though I originally only signed up for a trial and didn't have PSNow for years up think about a year and half ago.

I'm still not sure about Nintendo and what their situation is with deleting save files and stuff. I think they may have even deleted some of my Pokebank stuff over the years, oh well. I should make actually check on that to make sure that it is not expired actually.

Would be cool if they remastered the first entry (and second, why not) while putting them on all main platforms.
Would require a pretty extensive remake. Those games are heavily built around the 3DS, and I think to do the games justice, and not just a very barebones port, it would require a lot of redrawn assets (to make it look decent on HD screens) and redesigns to the UI and gameplay too.

Asano teased a remaster in 2022. ;)

Edit: oh they mention it in the article. Sorry for not reading:p

I started playing

And... that sure is an interesting game.
Yes, it looks like Octopath Traveler and all, but it really isn't a Chinese clone beyond the similar visuals.
The combat is more akin to Live A Live with grid movement+ATB... but also an optional real time mode where everything happens at once, incredibly useful to make the boring parts go faster (and melt your face in seconds if you use it against enemies beyond your team), no random encounters but visible enemies with a rough estimate of their strength (and some ambushes too), no XP of any sort but only skill points to upgrade the very, very large skill list to find and learn all over the world, cultivation skills coming with stats, the others with passive bonuses, tons of materials for crafting and almost every NPC carries stuff around that you can get by sparring them...

But it also has a straight up open world (mostly, with some story limits), factions to side with, tons of companions to recruit with their stories and quests, and some important choices to make all over (including screwing you out of some of it, this is not a game to 100% without a guide, but then that's the point of factions and different endings...).

I'm really surprised at how... rich it tries to be. Sometimes it feels like Gothic, sometimes like Suikoden, other times like Mount&Blade... really odd feeling to play a game that is unique by being reminiscent of so many other games - sometimes in very different genres.
Sadly, you can see the cracks fairly fast, as it's not really trying to tell a complex story, the main character is really bland, and the balance can get really out of whack real fast with how open it is - nothing stops you from running around to get broken skills and recipes, grind enough points and materials to max them out and then roll over large parts of the game.

It sure is entertaining. Oh and for once in a Chinese RPG, the English translation is really good. There's still a lot of terms that will be a bit confusing if you don't know wuxia, but at least the mechanics and story are quite straightforward so it's probably a lot more approchable than games like Gujian or Sword&Fairy.

Big update to the SDK and the game itself with more improved assets and systems for DUSK HD.
Amid Evil got a new endless arena too.
Also I missed the DUSK dev is working on something that seems kinda Condemned-like?

And New Blood celebrated 10 years.

"sex magic" is the most popular new game on Steam in my region. Not my type of "game", but the user reviews are hilarious 😂
I miss out on amusing information like this ever since I told Steam to exclude "Adult Only Sexual Content" from my store listings :(

(I did that because it would use up quite a few slots in "new & trending" where there just might be something I'm interested in)

Heck, I have zero issues with adult games, and I still wish there was a separate queue or way to exclude them from certain views. Browsing the discovery or new release queue in public is a no go. Even viewing the front page can be risky business at certain times.

this sucks. Haven't played Saltsea Chronicles yet, but really enjoyed Mutazione. I recall that Saltsea was originally supposed to be published by Private Division; no idea why they dropped it, but I'm sure that didn't help matters (EDIT: looks like I was at least partially wrong about that last part, PD still funded the game but didn't publish it)

And major layoffs at Supermassive, even though they have multiple big projects in development (the Dead by Daylight spinoff and Little Nightmares III). Maybe a third unannounced project was canceled?

FFVII Remake Intergrade just received an 8.4 GB update to "fix bugs". Like what?
I think they changed some models a bit to match how they look in Rebirth. I believe this only affects some flashbacks you see . So nothing major

it's hilarious all those PS5 Pro leak specs and people reactions.
The hell, people don't remember those 8K Resolution announcement on PS5 promo? Are people really so deluded?
It's the eternal console song and dance, everyone gushing over PS5 specs only for the console to start shitting itself performance wise 3 years into it's lifespan.

"PS5 Pro will be the one. No PS6 will be the one just wait and see. Nonono, PS6 PRO is the one"

There is noise from some console players that the PS5 pro is "needed" because the PS5 isn't up to par anymore. But in the same breath proclaim, that it is just for the people who want to get a little bit more out of their games and nobody NEEDS to buy the upgrade.

Is it needed or not performance-wise?
If it's not, then Sony is just fleecing you.
If it is, then it is time for either tickle the last performance out of the configuration, or get more efficient with the resources you have at hand for the console spec. (that's why the games at the end of console generations looked so much better and played so much smoother up to the PS3 generation)
OR you need a completely new console generation when your performance is lacking!

Not only masks a mid-gen console upgrade the real console userbase (because some users buy two consoles)
It also makes all the trolling about PC hardware costs laughable, if the console power user buys $1000-$1200 Hardware to play current-gen games.

It also takes away pressure to permanently lower the cost of the console.
Platform warriors readily downplay PS2 sales to beauty up the later generation console sales, "because the last 30 million PS2 were sold at 99-199 bucks"
But you know who bought those 99-199 buck consoles? Kids in lower-income families, people who were in a part of their life where money was tight, etc. Those people were console players, those people maybe bought the next generation, those people were the fresh meat that made the PS3/360 generation the highest userbase at that time and it only got downwards from there.
Because you couldn't get bargin bin hardware anymore and the aging console userbase is happily getting milked more and more.

Hear me out, maybe we don't need so many polygons to render stuff.
Maybe rendering Tifa with half the polygons will make you get hard as fast as with all the polygons she has now but with half the power draw and with twice the hardware performance.

It's a shame the new RTX HDR stuff does not support multi-monitor setups where only 1 monitor is HDR-capable :/
Not gonna unplug a monitor everytime I wanna give HDR a try.

I might pick up a PS5 Pro next year if I have money to waste. It will be expensive asf but I think it could be worth it for Death Stranding 2, Wolverine, Demon Souls and maybe GTA6. It feels like by the end of next year the console will actually have a bunch of games to play that I actually can't play on PC/Deck.

I've owned all the PS consoles so it kinda feels wrong not jump into this gen. I remember buying PS3 when MGS4 launched and picking up GTA4 around the same time as well. It was so expensive as a broke college student but never have regrets when it comes to supporting Kojima. Looking back on those times now....I basically bought PS2 for MGS2 as well. And PS4 for Bloodborne and Death Stranding.

That stealth action Physint game might be a PS5 title too but it wouldn't surprise me if Kojima/Sony make it exclusive to PS6. That game feels like its gonna be a Demon Souls, Rift Apart and Returnal type of next gen exclusive.

Yeah, they should fix that, there's no good reason for the limitation.
I've been on a single monitor at home ever since going ultrawide, so I'm not directly affected, but I also wouldn't want to jump through hoops for no reason to use it.

apparently it's supposed to be fixed in the next driver release (whenever that happens)
