Game Informer is shutting down. Not exactly out of nowhere given GameStop's financial troubles and the continuing decline of gaming media over the past few years, but still feels like the end of an era.

Fucking hell
ataraxia too

Mad that they seem to be digital only when they had physicals for Mahoyo and Tsukihime but nevertheless I'll be there!

I considered picking up Fate Extra on the PSP but the reviews were pretty bad.
This remake seems to change the battle system, I hope they improve the game's flaws.

Deadlock's codenames were Citadel and Neon Prime so this should be something new.

Looks like we are finally getting Half-Life 3.

McVicker is saying this is 3+ years in development now and things are accelerating too. Basically they've been working on it since HLA came out.

Going to be a killer announcement hopefully Valve does more than just tweet it out. They should do a big show for something like this.

I hope this is like a Deck 2 launch title or something. But if this is happening sooner than later I can see this coming next year. Maybe Valve is feeling spicy and wants to go head to head with GTA6 :sneaky:.

Next year we get GTA6, HL3, MGS Delta and new Doom Dark Ages. It will basically be 2004 again wtf

Also just imagine the tech Valve must be cooking with right now. A pure M/KB FPS game with those Source 2 HLA graphics that is not VR. This shit will usher in new PC builds for the next decade.

if this is a Half Life title, it will surely be VR again. There has been plenty of smoke around Valve working on a wireless VR headset, and they have likely been developing this game alongside the development of that headset again, just as with Alyx.

Gigabyte releases BIOS update with microcode update for my Z690, breaks XMP XD I can't use my DDR4 4000MT/s unless I keep it at stock speeds 2133MT/s. I tried everything from setting XMP and lowering speed to 3600/3400/3200 to manually setting everything (even bumping Memory Training voltage to 1.45 and VCCSA to 1.35) and nope nothing helped.

Continuing my trend from Suicide Squad... I am also having a good time with Immortals of Aveum lol. I think I'm about a quarter of the way through and I am looking forward to playing more. It's surprisingly beefy in terms of content. Playing on the (original) hardest difficulty so I can 100% the achievements in one playthrough. Sometimes it looks mid and other times it looks gorgeous. It feels very "AA" in a way- the type of game that people claim they miss from the PS2/PS3 era, like Singularity, Dark Void, Inversion, etc.

Im going on a trip soon, taking my retro handheld for entertainment, BUT I need a good game to play but have found that many old games are kind of a pain to play, can't seem to get into them. So, what old game holds up even today? Mostly looking for RPG or action adventure.

How retro are we talking about? NES, SNES, PS1? Or handleds?
Since you want to avoid games that are a pain to play, do you prefer a game without "missables" and/or without the need of a guide? Or are you mostly talking about difficulty?
When talking about RPGs, do you only have preferences for turn based ones (Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy), or are fine with variations like more action (Mana) or strategy based (Fire Emblem)? For action adventures are you looking for something Zelda-like (more adventure) or something more "action"?

I would prefer a VR HL3 considering Alyx was amazing, but still, a non-VR game will be great too.

yeah, I've been playing Aveum to break in my new gaming PC and I've been enjoying it. Longer than I expected but I'm finding it pretty enjoyable; the visuals are generally stunning but aren't quite as immaculate as I would have hoped given the UE5 hype and high requirements (weak water effects, some pop-in, leylines animate at 60fps, etc)

I recently got into emulation and the GBA Fire Emblem games play amazingly well and are also quite good looking.

For RPGs you can't go wrong with Final Fantasy V, VI and Chrono Cross. About the action adventures you can give Castlevania: Bloodlines, Crusader of Centy and Demon's Crest a try..

I'll believe that Half-Life 3 is happening when it's officially revealed and not a minute sooner
When it is revealed? You should not believe until it is released. :steam_cleanseal:
Gotta be playing it on your own machine - not a moment sooner.
No, even having played it on your machine is too soon. You gotta talk about it with your friends and loved ones and make sure it wasn't a drug fueled fantasy (ideally you should find a subset of your friends who are generally sober for this test to make sense)

Buy it and not play it. Valve would have you play it no other way. I tip my hat to you sir

If HL3 is VR I'll be on suicide watch.
Anyway, finished SMTV, such a night and day difference between playing it on Switch or the Deck. Enjoyed the new story more than the original. A serious goty contender for me which isn't surprising considering SMT is my favorite series.

I'm surprised people still give any air to McVicker these days.
He is just a data miner. I don't think people should look for accurate insider info from him or anything.

He pretty much willed Deadlock into existence by making videos on Neon Prime and Citadel for a long time lol

If he is making videos like this and believes HL3 is a thing and non-VR he likely did his research from whatever Source updates Valve is pushing out. The problem is is he could be way off in his predictions in terms of both time and details. This White Sands stuff could be anything but its good to know that Alyx team is and has been working on something for the past 4 years.

It would be epic if it is M/KB HL3. I would be shocked if they actually make something like this before say a Left 4 Dead 3 as the optics in creating something like that with multiplayer/co-op would bring in so much $$$ for them. Not that Half-Life is a slouch.

Not the biggest Fairy Tail fan, but dang these look fun. Hope we get more anime or manga properties in these similar styles.
From the sounds of it, he also funded the development of the games. I wonder if he was let down by the 2020 fairy tail game, or if he wondered what kinda stuff people would make. Since there have actually been some non battle arena brawls that have come out.

I see that Epic is now having sale basically every month. Sometimes multiple times per month.
Must be very dire for them. I can't see them selling much games these days outside of some AAA stuff here n there. Seems like they are done with moneyhatting too. Maybe they are waiting for something big like GTA6 or something else to go all out on.

Downunder.
The reviews for Natsu-mon are out.

Seems like the reviewers enjoyed the game, with a small complaint about the free-form nature of the game. It's a bit strange since BokuNatsu series has always been designed in this way. It is what makes the games so enjoyable. I mean, who wants to tick off checklists when you're on holiday?

I do, I also think that's why it's called an itinerary. Also I guess that really depends on what your definition of "holiday is" that's the same as vacation right? When you go on vacation you want to make the best of it otherwise you will possibly have to wait another year, or even years in some cases and you just waisted those few days that you had available.

-;------------

PS I'm by far one of the worst people you would ever want to go on "Holiday" with but boy, when I plan stuff out do I plan stuff out. Since we simply could have just gone off and done just thing A for the whole trip but instead I also insisted that we do thing B and thing C as well. And you end up thanking me later.

Do things go as planned typically? Well no but that's why I plan multiple things just in case one thing doesn't work out. And at the end you will still be happy that we check off some of those things that I had planned ahead.

Zelda Minish Cap was my handheld game.
Short but dense. Very very charming artstyle.

Thanks for the tips! Will consider them, since many I actually didn't play back in the day,

I did try Chrono trigger, but at some point didn't know what to do and after trying to go everywhere I just kind of fell off it. Same with Symphony of the Night.

I am limited to games that can be played with digital controller, since there are no analogue sticks.
