Not that I've played a lot of Deck games in the past 2 years...but outside of MCC I never had any serious issues with playing/launching games on it. The experience has been good. And it will only get better in the future.

I welcome the future SteamOS overlords. I see myself having a handheld, desktop and some type of living room device running SteamOS in the next 3-5 years. Windows is something I will still use ofc but probably just a laptop or some type of limited legacy backup GOG machine.

I finished Wukong. My garbage hot take is that I enjoyed it more than Shadow of the Erdtree. While the game has some major issues (dear god the last chapter is so bad), there are some top notch boss fights that reminded me of From games before they went a bit crazy with Elden Ring's super aggressive bosses. Also I loved the setting and it was super unique to me as I know nothing of Journey to the West. If there's DLC or a sequel I'll get it day one.

In regards to SteamOS: Valve has to figure out how to get anti-cheat to properly work on if they want any chance of it becoming mainstream. The biggest games won't support it and there has been some regression in the area the past several months with titles like Apex Legends and Grand Theft Auto 5 becoming unusable on Linux due to anti-cheat.

Oh wow, I just found out that the MMO, Corepunk, which I have been playing was made by a Dutch-Ukrainian studio and most of the developers were in Ukraine. They actually lost contact with some of the staff at the beginning of the war: Kyiv-based Corepunk studio says it’s lost contact with some staff stuck in Ukraine | Massively Overpowered

Supposedly they lost some of the work that they had done for the game and had to start over, which explains why the current game doesn't have lots of the stuff that it did when they announced it 4 years ago:

Thanks for the new thread lashman .

Love that 8bitdo keyboard. I genuinely miss the old garish green XBox. My first Xbox was the halo edition that came in that same green.

Need to switch my PC over to a new MB. But been putting it off due to needing a new version of windows. Tempted to give Linux a try but need to confirm how well some of my games play on it.

Been playing a lot of the Calamity Mod for terraria. Having never looked into it before it's amazing how much content it adds. Can be hard but I would also say no harder than the base terraria. Next play through I may try going in as a summoner.

Forza Motorsport Adding Ray-Traced Global Illumination On December 9th

On December 9th, Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport enhances its 500-plus cars and ever-growing number of circuits with Ray-Traced Global Illumination lighting (RTGI). This PC-only upgrade option enhances the game’s existing illumination technology to compute more accurate indirect lighting and occlusion across tracks and cars in real-time, amping up visual fidelity and realism.

Take a first look in the PC Ray-Traced Global Illumination lighting screenshots below:

Ray-Traced Global Illumination lighting is a new setting that must be enabled, and is not on by default. To turn on this immersive new setting, set “Raytracing Quality” to "Full Reflections + RTGI", and choose a quality level under “RTGI Quality”.

When enabled, Ray-Traced Global Illumination lighting will apply to all gameplay and cinematics, as well as your Homespace and Photo Mode, increasing immersion and image quality during virtually all in-game moments.

To maximize performance when enabling RTGI, activate DLSS Super Resolution in the settings menu, or take image quality to the next level with DLAA. This AI-based anti-aliasing mode utilizes the same technology developed for DLSS, but it instead uses a native resolution image to maximize image quality, rather than boosting performance, for an even richer experience.

They should try adding fun to the game.
Seems like they very much did:

The game's overarching narrative—told mainly through lengthy cut scenes that serve as the most captivating reward for in-game achievements—does a pitch-perfect job of replicating the campy, madcap, fun-filled, adventurous tone Indy is known for. The writing is full of all the pithy one-liners and cheesy puns you could hope for, as well as countless overt and subtle references to Indy movie moments that will be familiar to even casual fans.
Ars broke review embargo (review is down again).

Seems like perf is fine if you don't need the "ultra RT" mode. They got a "steady" 60 (with "occasional" traversal stutters), on a 2080Ti (a six-year old high-end card from 2018) at 1440p using "high" settings. That seems super reasonable to me, especially as it's not using FG.

mechanical keyboards are a tacky waste of money and are in no way better than basic/default keyboards.
Ok, but why say silly, wrong, things? They're no more tacky or expensive than any other accessory, that's based on the design of the given, of countless, models.

Infinity Nikki is really good.
I finished Chapter 1 and I'm enjoying it a lot.
It's very pretty and the world is full of fun stuff - puzzles, collectibles, platforming, photo challenges, side quests, etc... And everything feels rewarding. Whimstars are obviously needed for unlocking stuff, but there's a lot of outfit parts you can get as well. Heck, I got one from talking to an (I think) unmarked NPC and correctly answering his quiz questions.
The first "dungeon" and "boss" were really fun. This having barely any combat and instead just platforming and collection is such a nice breath of fresh air.
The story and characters so far are also pretty endearing, and there's some interesting lore and worldbuilding in the books you find. Been reading all of them and when you read about the neighbouring country being invaded and refugees streaming into this one while everything is cute and whimsy, that certainly is intriguing.
The music is great too.
The gacha hates me though, literally only got 5* Accessories and hair so far. It doesn't actually bother me much though, cause there are so many good free and low-rarity options and it's completely separate from the exploration.

I'm getting Kingdoms of Amalur vibes. It was pretty excellently made and polished and you could get into it for a long time too but ultimately forgettable and perhaps a bit too large for its own good with MMO-like quests. I guess we'll see if there are some more engaging story or gameplay hooks to elevate this one.
