Finally got into the GOG 2.0 beta. Kind of impressive how quickly and seamlessly it integrated my 1500+ games Steam library. From looking at Epic, I was starting to get the impression that developing a quality client was some near-impossible feat of engineering!

Can't say I see myself using it all that much though, since most of what I wanna play is on the actual Steam client. Although it will be nice not having to reinstall Origin for those once-in-a-decade times I feel like playing an EA game. It might end up pushing me towards buying more from GOG, too. Last I checked, they had some neat exclusives for when you're in a retro mood. Is there a comprehensive list available somewhere? Can only think of the Blizzard games right now.

It's going to be 42°c tomorrow in Paris, so if I don't make it, just wanted to say I love you all!
Holy shit I'm scared of those kind of temperatures. I hate heat waves, but I never had to deal with more than 35c - nor want to deal with anything above that. How do I postpone December (and summer as a whole) forever?

Anyway, I wish you luck - remember to drink lots of water and all that.

Don't worry, given current trends, you'll soon have to deal with 50C+ heatwaves.

Once we had a 45 summer here, fun times.

And there's still a bunch of degenerates who prefer that than some mild cold weather.

Toki Tori 2, Tetrobot & Co. (If you consider it a sequel to Blocks that matter), Shelter 2,... maybe Ittle Dew 2? I know there are tons more, but for some reason I'm drawing a blank.
The Toki Tori 2 developers made the mistake of delaying the PC version so they could give the Wii U an exclusive launch. That worked really well for them.

Alright so we all know that good games have good anime openings right.
It looks like Ray Gigant has not 1, but 3 of them. Just finished the 1st "story arc" about main character #1 (and damn did shit hit the fan at the end) and am now in the story arc of main character #2, who got his own opening and a different party.
Looking forward to seeing the opening of main character #3.

I still find it fascinating that when I bought this game the first time I refunded it because I didn't like it, and now I'm having a really good time with it, lol.

Wait - 45c as a average temp during the whole summer? I mean, be it the avg or not, anyone who goes through one of these summers get my respect.

Man I feel you, it's going to be 41°c in The Netherlands tomorrow. :weary-face:
Take care and stay cool my dude.

There's some games that never left GOG for a reason or another. SWAT 4, Soldier of Fortune franchise, The Suffering, the original Rainbow Six, Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone, Neverwinter Nights 2, Street Fighter Alpha 2, classic Rayman games, Icewind Dale 2, I.G.I. 2, Empire Earth franchise, etc.

Did something happen with VR? A bunch of VR games skyrocketed in player count last night. Beat Saber is at 29.8k players right now, While it was at 1k like 13 hours ago.

GORN, Beat Saber, Skyrim VR (its on sale though), SuperHot VR and Sword of Sorcery are all at their all time high player count, and they all jumped in player count around 12 hours ago.

I wonder what's up with this. I can't find any particular offer/bundle with these games and the number bumps are so synchronized it can't be nothing but bots, idling, but where are they getting the games from?
madjoki any ideas?

They really arent slowing down huh? It seems like they're planning to add all 600 achievements (+ the new ones for reach) all at once because looking through the SteamDB list, There's Halo CE, 2 and 4 specific achievements alongside several new ones that aren't on Xbox (I assume these are the Reach specific ones)

Man people who want to 100% the game are going to have a hard time. Not only can you not 100% it until all the games are out, but over 600 achievements. Good luck to the brave souls going for that.
Are they actually categorizing the achievements? Nobody seems to remember you can do that on Steam, like how TF2 has different lists for each class.

Probably not, They’ll likely just put the name of the game the achievements are for in the descriptions like they do on Xbox. Wish more devs would use the categories, if Valve even lets you do that still.

I got into the GOG Galaxy thing, what sucks though is that the email that I signed up for is not tied to my GOG account so I can not access that information?

Can someone explain to me why people are upset about this? Did BigBen do something shitty?
Personally, I'm not a big fan of Big Ben. Buggy releases, games that launch downright broken, with minimal post-launch support.
Just check some of their games on Steam, and read some of the complaints, and how things were handled (or not).

But, what earned them the honour of being one of the publishers who I chose to add to my ignore list on Steam was when they took The Sinking City to the EGS close to launch, and posted this lovely update:

I mean «it is likely that one year after the release of The Sinking City on the Epic Games store, we will consider releasing the game on other platforms. ».

Wow, thanks for considering, with no commitments, to release the game in a year on other platforms. :cautious:
I personally enjoy when a publisher acts in such condescending manner, like they are doing me a favour by allowing me to buy their games.

Like I keep mentioning in my posts, I rather enjoy Spiders games. It's one of the few teams whose games I still pre-order, or buy on day one.
But, depending how Big Ben handles their next game, this may be the end for me.

To quote a episode I re-watched last night of Star Trek: The Next Generation: "All good things must come to an end".

Didn't resist, bought Rage 2 Deluxe on Steam. Should have done the cheaper deal and buy the deluxe edition in-game but thought "it's a little cheaper but not worth the hassle, specially because who knows how they will handle the expansion".

... and ended up having what appears to be a very common problem that you game doesn't register as the "Deluxe" on your Bethesda account and you don't get the bonuses. The solution? Try to contact Bethesda support and hope they fix it manually.

I see Bethesda continues to impress on the technical side of things :p

Oh yeah, I got into the GOG Galaxy 2.0 beta. Already liking it, even if most of my games are on Steam.

I strongly disagree with this. Whether Epic succeeds or not is mostly dependent on pc gamers accepting or rejecting their strategy based on moneyhatting and crippling other storefronts.

By buying games on EGS, you're actually telling both Epic and the devs involved that you're fine with this strategy.
Let me try and properly state my position on this, this time.
Let's say we have a vote consisting of a very sizable population, in the magnitude of millions. The final result of that vote represents the overall majority opinion. A person's individual vote doesn't actually mean much in how it influences that final result, and their individual vote does not represent that final result. What's more important is how that person can work within their sphere of influence to change that overall opinion, as well as what that opinion actually is.

So, I do not feel that my one purchase weighs against the people who will never buy anything on the Epic Store, the efforts I have and will continue to make to persuade people against it, and Epic's sheer incompetence. If nothing else, I can jump in whenever someone says so and so can't say anything about EGS because they've never used it. Like how there doesn't seem to be offline play, that'll be annoying when I move houses soon...

As with real elections, when everybody votes for the shitty party because you personally get a few benefits the shitty party will win everytime (like it happened where I live for a veeeery long time until the main party shithead crashed himself to death after he drank too much and the rest of the party sank in their incompetence the following months), Epic would have already won if everyone would think like you do. Tbh I don't really believe you think this way, it's a form of self deception.

The individual vote is the most important one because the majority of votes consists of individual ones. More important in politics, sure, but, well, fuck Timmy and epic.

Those PS4 QuakeCon sale prices compared to the Steam ones....

Even crazier when you compare it towards the additional 15% off GMG prices for first time customers.

The disparity is something straight out of 2013.
How big of a difference are they?

Now that I have 11 Steam friends, I can see that I'm a low-value friend and why you all rank up your badges and so on. I'll try to play more games on PC and improve my lot. I also hope this doesn't mean that you all can see how many games I start and don't finish.

Most of the titles are 2x as expensive. Even with the additional PS+ discount in most cases.
Ouch that is "bad", I wonder how the prices on the eshop are like when ever those go on sale.

I tried GOG Galaxy 2.0 and I'm not really feeling it.

One of the things that I have wanted for some time (and I think is one of the things that GOG Galaxy 2.0 is trying to do) is to be able to have my friends in one place, see what others are playing what they think about certain games and stuff like that. Games do have cross play now so maybe having a community hub or something to see if your friends want to cross play together (I guess this is what Discord is used for? But I don't really use Discord since I hardly ever talk to be via a group chat or "DMs").

So it still has some work to do before they add those features. As of right now it just feels empty, I have no GOG friends and maybe that's the issue?

Maybe in the future GOG Galaxy will allow me to buy console games (having a built in web browser that would just take me to the web store page, let me buy the game, let me download the game and then tell me when the game is installed on my console and then allow me to stream it on to my PC like with PS4 Remote Play and the Xbox thing). I'm pretty sure that is not their intent but it would be cool to see.

The new FE game is out in a few day and Best Buy has not sent me a shipping confirmation yet.... I guess I'm getting my copy next week. I know that the one of the devs behind the original FE games did make a PC game in that style and that it's getting localized in English. What ever happened to that game?

It was like that during golden week too a few months ago. I remember specifically ni no kuni 2 was like $36 on ps4 and about $20 on Steam I think it was.
