Looking at the Steam forums, it seems the game is missing some effects in certain levels and there seem to be bugs with audio mixing. I'd wait for some patches to drop before starting it.

Eliza is really really good. It doesn't offer much in terms of choices and consequences but the story is very interesting and brilliantly written. If you're into existentialist stuff about the future of big tech, AI and ethics and people searching for their own identity and their place in the world (and rain... and Seattle), I highly recommend it. Zachtronics is by far one of the most interesting and smart studios out there at this moment.
If there's a way to buy this game without giving money to Annapurna, I'd love to hear it.
Ask the dev on twitter? Maybe he has a patreon/paypal and could provide you with Steam key.

Li Kao The Pilgrim Adventures games are bloody great and even better for being cheap. They are RPG Maker type games but there's no combat just nice graphics and a great set of stories. The games are shortish so they don't outstay their welcome but i find them compelling enough that i jumped into the next game in the series straight away. It's another dev that has improved with each game and as you can get all their games for about £5 at the moment i recommend them! The Deed was their debut release. Space Pilgrim & Space Pilgrim Academy are set in the same universe and narratively linked.

There are thousands of other devs. And we already "punish" the devs who have an exclusive agreement with EGS through their Pub. Even if they are held at gunpoint (the popular argument regarding those poor devs).
And we don't know the circumstances of why this game is not exclusives.
- did the other Annapurna releases bomb and Epic is not willing to fund another Annapurna game? or Annapurna doesn't want exclusivity anymore because the games bombed. --> could be that the dev was hoping for a deal but didn't get it.
- did the dev say no to the deal? ---> Again, goes against the popular argument that devs have no say in those deals. And did the dev publically said he will never do an exclusive agreement?
- is the Annapurna - EGS deal still on but this release wasn't worth it?
No dev is entitled to our money. A customer could blacklist a dev because the dev likes the color green. That's his right.
