Besides Randy being such a 'nice' person, this is why I don't believe that the moneyhats benefit the devs unless they outright say that it does.
Managed to play 1 match in Predator: Huunting Grounds. Even with crossplay enabled it took me forever to find a match and the game is really rough and I really dislike the climbing controls.
Real shame cause I really like the Aliens and Predators universe.
Pretty much all negative impressions everywhere.
So I guess Sony releasing it on EGS is just a cash-grab for Sony.
When they announced it was multiplayer-only. That was a red flag. VR was another.
HOB is free this week and DRM free for anyone about that life.
Aw snap guys, the next EGS exclusive is... a decade-past remaster of the worst Saints Row game

Really? I mean really???
So Tim "delboy" Sweeney is now money hatting glorified patches. To be honest Saints Row has become stale as fuck got bored to tears with the series after 4 so won't be returning to it. Curious why they remastered 3 but not 2 when you consider what a broken mess 2 was on the PC. Anyhoo interms of EGS buying exclusivity I guess it is true "a fool and their money are easily parted", Tim is a shining example of that.
It could simply be preparation for a new exclusive Saint’s Row game.
But if it isn’t that’s ... weird.
Another eggs exclusive I care little about. Its funny, i was one of those really pissed off with all the initial Epic bollocks. Now I just don't really care about eggs. It doesn't look like they will make too big an impact on PC gaming for the foreseeable future, just a few exclusives that i can either wait for or pass altogether.
EGS was legitimately a threat a while back but PC gamers seem to have actually voted with their wallets. I don’t mean to pull a “gamers rise up” thing here but I have never found the codboycott.jpg meme to be empirically true, it it was we’d be looking at a sequel to the DMC reboot and Hitman Absolution 2 right now. As it turns out making your marketing strategy that of trying to attract children with no finances and actively antagonizing everyone else doesn’t work great.Another eggs exclusive I care little about. I basically never play remasters of games I already finished (even if they are my favourite game of all time e.g. PS:T)
This is a bit to "early victory", i don't feel the gaming press or industry as a whole really changed their stance. Some devs might have caught on, but Epic doesn't stick to one thing long enough to learn any lesson before they're on to the next fuck upCustomers and PC gamers did win the first battle. Epic is still a threat but they will be contained and eventually defeated if we stay vigilant, continue to oppose them and vote with our wallets. For the moment though I am enjoying the sight of the games industry having egg on its face after trying so hard to discredit the anti-moneyhat effort and convince people that gamers would capitulate and "follow the games".
Chris Avellone is a god among men.

Or someone who has a disturbingly self-centered view of the world, jury's still out. I do find his writing a little overrated.
Here, here!I neither expect them to nor care about them changing their stance. I celebrate their failures as wins for customers. I'm sure they'll keep trying and I'm sure they will keep failing, as long as we keep opposing them.
Objectively, yes, it is a bit overrated. Withing the realm of videogame writing I stand by my original post.
He's a good writer in that realm, I would agree that far. But I never thought he was that amazing, especially not compared to others in that same industry. Hell, the obvious example would be Disco Elysium. His recent work on PoE did absolutely nothing for me.
That being said, tastes and all that, I didn't mean to really denigrate him and sorry if it sounds that way. More that there's something about him and the whole Obsidian thing happening on the Codex that had a really foul smell despite my complete agreement that in all likelihood, Urquart is to blame.
Also, I completely agree with your earlier post regarding the EGS and the anti-moneyhat reaction.
That’s going to go on forever. DMC5 still had game journo reviews unfavorably comparing it to the reboot six years later. The important thing is that it just doesn’t matter. If EGS becomes a footnote, which it is well on its way to, it’s not going to be able to claw back in.This is a bit to "early victory", i don't feel the gaming press or industry as a whole really changed their stance. ... which is in 8 days
Maybe they're content not to hype Steam release given how well their EGS release slot went. I'm sure it's empty now, but what do they care at this point?World War Z is actually quite fun. I wonder if it's a full Epic exclusive. It's been 1 year the 16th april.
I know, it's till time for an announcement, but Steam release announcements have usually been 2+ weeks before it has happened.
