That Humble Bundle creator (Wolfire) vs Valve lawsuit looks better than previous. But sounds awfully like "we wanna distribute Steam keys without actually releasing on Steam, thus Steam is bad for not footing bill without anyway to get revenue".

I feel like it is completely ridiculous.

Steam is basically the only significant commercial platform where game developers can create keys for free and sell them elsewhere; and they decide to sue Valve for not allowing that in a completely unlimited way bypassing any revenue for Valve at all, rather than suing everyone else for not allowing it in the first place?

What?

Genshin Impact really stars off strong with... about 2 to 3x weaker vertical mouse sensibility that you can't change. Nothing autohotkey can't fix but that's a bad look in my book :(.

Ok, at my desk now and can say without a doubt, on my 144hz gsync
144fps - Good
72fps - Shit
36fps - Horrible
But that's talking about motion clarity. Fluidity ? I guess 72 is okay.

Imagine suing Valve for forcing Steam-games to be released on Steam

Wolfire is better known as Humble Bundle (before sold to IGN)
Imaging someone picking EGS key from Humble Choice...

I mean how long has Humble Bundle been there just existing because of Steam.

It's clearly infringing on Humble Bundle's rights to be the gaming store equivalent of parasitic leeches. :coffee-blob:

What is actual expected outcome of those Valve trials? I mean if they lose/win Steam still be the most popular store and those others are just :poop: they don't magically become any better places.

If they win indie devs just run back to Steam and those other places are then just ghost towns. If they lose, they just lose and lose some money and same outcome.

I mean it's better than the lawsuit that used only Tim Sweeteners tweets. It's very very low bar to beat.

All these complaints and lawsuits are always doomed to fail. If devs want a better cut, they should demand that and fight for it in an organised manner. Don't preach about fairness and monopoly - that's not what this is about and everyone can easily debunk those emotional arguments. Just say outright that you want a better cut and then do something about it.

Maybe 30% is a bit much but personally i dont really care what the split is, i like Steam so for me 30% seems reasonable. If a game isn't on Steam then it'll get 0% of my money. How much of a percentage is that worth to devs?

Yeah the headline is about developers thinking 30% is too much, but even a large number of them think that Epic's cut is too high. According to Tim, operating costs are about 7% so 5% is unprofitable. I don't know the magic number, and there probably isn't a magic number with all the variables in play.
I don't know much about the gaming industry except what some coworkers tell me, but if I compare it with other tech related stores, I would be very surprised if anything below 10% is profitable, operating costs always go around that, and even then if operating costs are let's say 7% and you take 8% you aren't making any ''real'' money unless you have another source of income, which is the case of Epic.

I aced my will roll against multiple promotions. Cool. Knowing RE8 will be super tempting is helping.
And today is Destroy All Humans on GP if I want.

Hmm, installing Destroy All Humans and musing with the idea of starting Nier Replicant. But fuck if those guides are not super confusing. Not surprising unfortunately, websites are after the clicks, the more guides the better.

Edit: It's also coming to the Windows Store on May 18. Maybe a potential future Game Pass title?

So with a 144hz gsync monitor all I have to do for Nier is to lock it to 60fps and nuke vsync in the nvidia control panel ?
Then profit ?

But why is there an option to set the fps of my monitor (separate from the fps of the game) ? Should I set it up or leave it alone ?

Nier replicant - Go to gamefaqs and look at the Nier FAQ, then i go to the Fextralife site and look at their walkthrough. Done. Simple.

These will get you 90% of the way there barring the new content.
Nier - PS3 - Gamefaqs
Nier Replicant Walkthrough - Fextralife

I also find that the IGN guides pad out quite nicely as time goes on and they have the subsections in the sidebar for easy navigation which is nice.

Many of the sites i use have a big main walkthrough with sub-guides and articles for specific components like submissions, collectables etc. This helps keep the walkthrough focused without tons of fluff and the sub-pages can give better detail on specific components or mechanics. Games have a lot of mechanics these days so a single page guide would have you scrolling up and down like a mofo.

As part of our commitment to empower every PC game creator to achieve more, starting on August 1 the developer share of Microsoft Store PC games sales net revenue will increase to 88%, from 70%.
I can already smell Tim's smug tweet.

Funny, I remember that lawsuit of Trickle down economics (can't remember the name) vs Valve that claimed for some unknown reason that the Microsoft store (on PC) had a 15% cut.

But I have to wonder, what happens with play anywhere titles ? They take 30% on the xbox store but if you buy it on pc less.
They honestly shouldn't be charging anyone to put their game up on that store.
I mean, they're paying most developers to be on the store (gamepass).

As a customer/player/gamer/consumer whatever you wanna call it, I don't care about the dev cut a store takes at all, I buy on the platform/store that serves my needs the best.
Yeah but at the very least Microsoft is doing some actual competition by not keeping their games exclusive to their store and instead trying to offer non-walled garden benefits to use their shit.

I'm not about to use the Windows store because I like my computer very much but this is a cool move still.
