What the hell, Max Payne remake - in northlight?

If you could find 2 or 3 people friends to play with, then Helldivers is an absolute blast. I had tons of fun playing it, I definitely enjoyed it much much more than Magicka. My only complaint would be that it gets hard relatively fast. Can't wait for Helldivers 2 which was predicted by Nostradamus from Nvidia.
Oh interesting I did not know that a sequel is in the works. Maybe then will be a better time to jump on that.

One of the rare instances of a remake I'll welcome with open arms. The originals are still fine but I'm definitely down to replay them with a fresh coat of paint.
But the question is for Rockstar Games Launcher only?. Because GTA remaster was RGL exclusive.

Thunderful posted their annual report, not seeing Deadly Premonition 2 (or Toybox's name) anywhere, none of the codenames seem to fit either so there's a good chance it's dead?
There's also a chance that I'm blind so here's a link:
That is correct, no mention, safe to say PC version of Deadly Premonition 2 is dead.

For what is worth, GTA Remasters are hosted on Steam and EGS as they do have active packages in both places so I think it's a matter of when not if.

It will probably be a EGSclusive.
Doubt, if anything RGL exclusive but I can see a multistore release.

Remedy are spread too thin. Remedy + Rockstar + side project almost guarantees they will sell exclusivity rounds as well.

Won't even think about it until we know details

They're a fairly large studio. I don't think they'd sign up for so many projects if they didn't need them to keep their people employed. Also, Control 2 and Alan Wake 2 are unlikely to enter full production for at least a year or two whereas something like this wouldn't require a large team or (presumably, depending on their intentions) much pre-production or preliminary design work.

Alan Wake is scheduled for 2023.

I wonder if the remake will have them play like Max Payne 3 or just look better but maintain the original feel with QOL/smoothness/visual improvements. I think I'd prefer if they play like the simpler action games they were, down to the old school third person camera. At most upgrade 1 to how 2 feels rather than go all out making it all like 3 which to me wasn't the best iteration of the series, even if they don't have all its issues like the constant story interruptions (but maybe that + not bumping on every little thing affecting Max is enough). Edit: ah, these are kinda crappy plays on the hardest difficulty cheesing the AI/game.

I kinda really feel like Max Payne doesn't need a reboot. I guess that's true for almost all games. I literally still play the game, and its still so moody and IMO looks fantastic.

Since they're already doing this, I hope they lay heavily into moodyness. Thinking tech, I hope they go wild with Global Illumination. I think they'll need to push hard in that direction. Control had a mood and the tech so there's hope.

I just really don't feel it is necessary...

Technicality but isn’t Rockstar launcher going the way of the Dodo in favor of a new Take 2 launcher ?

I have so many good childhood memories from playing Max Payne 1 on Cyber Cafes back in the day when I didn't have my own PC. I'll be mad if it's Egsclusive since I truly wanna play those games.

PS: Not related to Max Payne, but I need to get it off my chest. The Godskin Duo in Elden Ring is probably the worst designed boss fight in the entire soul series. Fuck those guys lmao

Back in 2012, movie director Scott Derrickson and his Sinister collaborator C. Robert Cargill were working on the script for a movie adaptation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Really? For some reason I thought it was a super early "now in development" kind of announcement. I'll be shocked if it doesn't get delayed out of 2023.

Next game from them should be that Control MP game if I remember correctly and/or their F2P game. Then AW2, Control 2 and MP Remakes somewhere in 3-5 years.

But it is sad that they still can't stand on their own and they need to rely on signing deals like this where they work for others. Epic is fully paying for AW2, Rockstar is fully paying for MP Remeakes, those Control related things are at least partially funded if not fully by 505 Games. Only thing that Remedy is funding is their F2P game and I can bet that it will have some kind of exclusivity attached to it.

After a little bit more software advice. My AV is about to run out. Been using Norton and generally had no issues but know they don’t have the best of reps. So wanted to know what would be the best to go for? Don’t mind paying for it but free is always a good alternative.

Would like to know what AV to use in our office. Currently we are using Kaspersky >.<

Also, had a read of this, quite interesting. Historian academics trying to understand the influx of students of history based around games. Paradox one’s in particular. Not particularly negative, with the general takeaway being they are happy people are bing inspired to look at history.

Windows built in AV?
Complement with MalwareBytes?

I forget that MS has an inbuilt AV software. Will check it out.

I don't feel any reboots are a full replacement for the original even if they are fun on their own terms. With the exception of those that that still include the option to play the original as it was.

Anyone whos a fan of MP1&2 who doesnt already own them digitally I would suggest looking to pick them up as after the GTA mess you certainly can't trust Rockstar to keep them up for sale once these remakes are ready.

But on a more serious note, I am curious about it. I can see me getting some enjoyment out of it.

I'm curious what sort of Steam numbers it will get.

Due to the feedback I have heard on the game I will probably wait until it is $10 or so, I love loot games so it will be a buy at some point.

Alan Wake must have really done a number on them, as theyve bounced between publishing deals like a pinball ever since to some degree or another. At least they havent been bought out yet.

As for the actual announcement, I own both games digital and hardcopy for pc, but i'm intrigued and would just as easily take the first game with a working installer that doesnt require patches and mods for sound, etc; and leave it at that. Both are still great as is.

James McCaffrey needs to be the voice or it just wont work for me. And constipated Sam Lake for the face as well. Let's do this right.

This so much.

Remakes/Redux's are fine in-themselves, but games industry's over-reliance means new ideas never see light-of-day. Remedy shines best when they try something new.

Even more concerning is publishers delisting original releases.
