Another game seems to be going to EGS?

The game has a Steam page and says it will release next month

also it's main page says EGS

Like the DARQ devs said in the AMA, Epic is only interested in Exclusives because of how "outdated" (impractical?) the method that they use to add games to EGS. Because it takes time to add games and it seems like a complicated procedure? Epic can only add so many games within a given time. And because they can only add a small amount of games on EGS, then why would they add games that are not EGS exclusive? As it stands right now it's just not practical to add games that are not exclusive to EGS since that takes time and effort on Epics part and in the end the Steam version will likely sell more copies anyway. So since they are limited to the games that can come in to EGS they might as well pay for them to be exclusive so that they can sell more copies of the game.

I watched a video from YY about Randy, BL3 and EGS and well back in April Randy said that EGS will improve and that not only that but Epic will likely also add other features that they have not mentioned to people yet since Epic cares. And guess what he was pretty wrong and Epic is basically the same now as it was in April 2019 and even by the time that the game releases on Steam will the EGS support these features?

BL3 seems like a mess I wonder if it will sell better or worse than the other BL games
I guess that Epic is also sort of doing what Valve "does" (or I guess lack of doing?) with games. Valve doesn't really market games and doing stuff like marketing a game cost a lot of money (so companies like Sony,MS, and Nintendo spend money to advertise a game that is coming to their platform and this is not just limited to first party titles since they also do it with third party titles as well). I don't think Valve really does stuff like this (outside of Steam anyway) and that saves them money. They are able to benefit off the marketing work of others. Epic in a way sort of seems to be doing the same thing but instead they seem to swoop in very close to the release of same games and then make them a deal. well something along these lines.

Any way good night (i'm very tired/sleepy)
Honest question, was GoldenEye this revolutionary game back in the day?

I really don't get the hype around old console shooters, played Perfect Dark (HD remake of the original) on 360 and it was rough, boring and weightless. Played TimeSplitters and while the setting was fun the game itself is rather meh. I guess to me Halo is really the only console FPS that probably not far behind of the best that PC can offer. Shows you just how much the input method can change the whole game.
The only thing that I can think of was how it was an FPS game where you and 3 others can play against each other in splitscreen?

That's an interesting list of the best FPS games of all time. I'd never guessed that some of these games are shooters and I'm not sure how Black can be on the best list of anything, but it's less obvious than most lists of that kind, I'll give them that.

Golden Eye was the fucking Bee's Knees on Console when it released. PC owners had all sorts of FPS but Golden Eye was the first on Consoles that i noticed was a phenomenon. Nothing could touch it with that split-screen multiplayer. I was at Uni and worked the Student Helpdesk part-time and the number of people coming in bleary-eyed or not coming in at all was ridiculous. Seriously.

People forget just how far gaming has come in the last... oh crap, 30 years. :cryblob:

It looks like Nantucket with more animations, which is a good thing. It's definitely on my radar.

Its overratedness doesn't quite reach Ocarina of Time's insurmountable levels but even back in the day with the N64 being new I played through it once, did a few splitscreen matches with a buddy, then fired up my 3dfx-powered PC, jumped into Quake 2, Hexen 2 or Jedi Knight and forgot about it. It was the golden age of the PC FPS (and every other genre too, really) and while HL and Unreal weren't released until a year later there was already so fucking much going on that GE was just an also-ran for me, crippled by a bad controller and stuck on a console I never particularly liked. And I'm trying to think of any memorable FPS I played on my PS1. So yea, if the only gaming machine you had was an N64 I can see why it could've blown you away but even then Doom 64 was better imo. Perfect Dark, oh my, the framerate was so bad (even worse than OoT) that I couldn't handle it, gave up quickly. There's also the issue of the N64's blurry image quality, the textures were often terrible to begin with and the console didn't have RGB so the games looked like foggy vaseline-smeared mud while on PC you had 3d accelerators bringing, for the time, supercrisp pixels and impressive framerates. Plus kb/m ofc*.

*YTber GmanLives reviews a lot of old console shooters and he often uses an emulator plus kbm which makes them look much better and a lot more appealing to play.

That's definitely one weird-ass list.
I was reading down the list thinking ehhh?? all the way through. Dishonored 2 sitting at No.3 in the list with the opening line "While not a traditional first-person shooter, Dishonored 2 is the best immersive sim since Deus Ex " <- Then don't stick it at No.3 in a FPS list then! Honorable mention for sure.

Dunno, looks like a regular old FPS to me. The shooting is a bit clunky, maybe.
I mean, it's a weapons video that you searched for and found so it's just gonna have that. I's not a large part of the game as you play it normally.

I wouldn't call Metroid Other M an FPS because someone might have made a video where it just shows first person missile shooting bits and pieces.

Mirrors edge huh
I mean, they have Alien: Isolation, Fallout 4 and Dying Light on the list, so, why not?

Overwatch is also apparently a better MP FPS than CS, UT and TF2. I really don't know what was the idea behind this list, did the editors want to be clever or something?

I know that it was an extremely popular game at the time, but, did it actually influenced the genre? I'm asking because I saw some articles claiming that Valve changed HL after being that much impressed with GE.

To me the ultimate console FPS (disclaimer: I haven't played many) is The Darkness. It's so good that it's worth dealing with analog aiming just to experience its greatness. A game so full of style and awesomeness that it puts lots of other shooters to shame.

Plus it has the best romantic scene in the whole medium. In a freaking gory FPS with self-aware killer tentacles and sadistic mafia bosses, because why not. Man, I love this game.

ME would have been a better game without weapons or without scenes where you're pretty much forced to use them. My no weapons run was miserable at times, because the game really expects you to shoot some guys 2 or 3 times overall. The final scene in the server room was a huge pain in the ass.

I wasn't seriously suggesting that ME is a real FPS, but the gun mechanics they put in (and even designed around, there are few levels I don't think an average player could finish without grabbing a machine gun) are they definitely there.
No clue why someone put Dishonored on there, by that logic Thief is an FPS too.

Coffee Talk was easily one of my most anticipated games this year. I'm a little sad it's now scheduled for next year.

No N64 game deserves to be on that list. The controllers were a travesty and performance absurd. My brother dug out his old N64 years ago during vacation, nothing like 13 fps to bring the fun!

Overall, that list is a travesty.

Moving on, still not playing a lot, giving my forearm muscles a rest, even though I feel close to 100% the last five days. I can't wait to try hyper light drifter!

That was the last great game from the Starbreeze, Syndicate has its moments, but it's not the same (and the FOV still gives me headache) , I'm still angry that we haven't got it on PC and stuck with the inferior sequel. That's the only game there you can sit MC's ass on a couch and watch a movie with his girlfriend. Plus it has psycho Mike Patton, Great stuff.

EDIT: Actually, Starbreeze made Brothers, so The Darkness is the last great shooter from them :)

I loved the sequel too, which I played this year (or last one, can't remember). But yeah, it's different. The first one is quite unique, and for some reason reminded me of Max Payne while keeping its own personality.

Sequel changed the atmosphere of the game and traded grounded crime drama with supernatural elements to full blown urban fantasy with a Hitler knock-off and his cultists as main enemies. It's not a bad game, and I think it has more refined gameplay mechanics than the original. But the whole package wasn't there and at the end the story went into unexpectedly dumb places.

they now state the exclusivity lenght
As expected. But both this game and Private Division are on ignore on Steam, and it stays this way.

Private Division claims Disintegration will be on Steam by the way, but I don't believe that at all.

I mean, they're not lying, it'll be on Steam, eventually. Though in this case they were specific about the launch, so, maybe T2 aren't happy with the Epic's moneybags?

Yeah I'm learning new languages (brushing up on my French, improving my Japanese and starting to learn German) because I really can't do anything else in this heat but I still need something to keep me engaged and motivated or I'd just lie in bed all day.

When it comes to games, I can really only read VNs, I'll delay all gaming-related activities until late September.

Summer is the shittiest season, fight me IRL if you disagree

I'm not gonna watch anything from Gamescom for that very reason. I expect most pc games announced to be EGS exclusive, so I'll keep focusing on my backlog.
yeah, pretty much .... i fully expect at least half of the games they show (or release trailers for) to be egsclusive at this point

Wouldn't be surprised if it means early access on Epic with 1.0 on all stores like Hades etc...
also this, yes ... absolutely
