Overall a pretty good event imo.

Gotham Knights looks great and is giving me that Jason Todd content ive been yearning for, Suicide Squad and Batman movies look great and Shazam 2 will hopefully be good as well.

Not really interested in the Suicide Squad game or Justice League Synder cut. Sad the event got split in two as well. I really want to know if we're getting a Season 3 of Harley Quinn, Come on DC!

Not sure how to feel on Suicide Squad. The idea of it being a shooter is interesting but reading the phrase "if you play solo you get AI partners" gives me some nasty 2006 flashbacks.

Yooooooo.... So what is the best way to go about recording a Zoom thing? I know next to nothing about Zoom (other than the whole Facebook thing that I heard about it). It does not seem like my instructor does VODs. Dang it I wonder if we have wifi at my work or something since that would potentially make a lot of this more ideal instead of me having to drive home during lunch for lecture. I know that you can use stuff like Nvida Shadowplay to record screen capture stuff but is there a way to record for a given amount of time? So say I watching the Zoom thing from the begging and then because I have to leave early for work and can't watch the full thing that I can record it for the remainder and then just watch it later. I think there are only 3 options on Shadowplay, one of them in last 5 min, the other is record and then stop and the last one is live streaming on youtube recording.

Lecture is from 11am-12:20PM so is there a way that I can just hit record and record for 1 hour and 20 mintues without needing to touch my PC? Also since this may take up a lot of space what are some suggestions for storage? get an external drive or something and save all of this on there?

My instructor told me I don't need to attended these Zoom meetings but that the class would be harder without them, there doesn't seem to be VODs and also we will need to use webassign for the semester.

The only thing I can think of is teamviewer or some other remote desktop that you can use your phone to home into your PC to start and stop. Keep in mind, you need to most likely buy something unless you can find a some freeware/open source.

So WB is making a game set in Gotham where I can't play as Batman and a game set in Metropolis where I can't play as Superman. And they have a focus on multi-player. And both will most likely be GaaS. Great. I'm really excited you guys.

I see, it may just be way less of a hassle for me to do everything from home then.

Suicide Squad trailer looks really interesting. Great music choice too. Haven't listened to Outkast for a while now.

While I'm not crazy about it being a shooter I think with Rocksteady's track record I'd definitely could see them pull off something special here. Especially since it's only releasing in 2022 giving them hopefully more than enough time.

Not that optimistic on Gotham Knights though. This being a GaaS co-op game might change too much from what I loved in Arkham Knight.

At the start of every console generation some of the AAA developers and publishers all try to get their foot in the door with a live service game, hoping it gains enough traction for a generation. It seems this go around more of them were ready to roll with this garbage. The market cannot sustain this many, so most of them will fail and tomorrow's another day.

In terms of the WB games specifically, eh. Neither of them really caught my imagination. A Gotham game without Batman, and a Metroplis game without Superman. Why? The source materials are about strong heroes who stand alone against the villains, which kind of runs counter to what game publishers want. Single player games don't provide a console generation's worth of free money via microtransactions and threadbare content updates.

I guess I just find it cynical. Clearly Warner Brothers thinks videogames are a lesser medium, a franchising opportunity, rather than something on the same footing as films, TV and (comic)books.

What's really sad is that WB could look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe and really build something with DC in videogames akin to that. It's clear as day to everyone that DC is in a much better position as far as games goes compared to Marvel, and they could leverage that IP and the wealth of characters to create a long form game narrative world spanning multiple studios and games. Heck, they could even make GaaS shit to tie some of the games together, keeping people engaged in that universe between the tentpole single player releases. It's practically a license to print money if they get the quality in there from the start. Alas, all we're getting is cynical franchise products on the same level as action figures.

Why not? I'd take a Gotham game with different characters any day of the week. We got 4 Arkham games and 2 Injustice games with Batman as the main character, Do we really need another so soon? I doubt Rocksteady wants to work on yet another 3rd person Batman beat em up when they can try a new genre with new heroes with Suicide Squad.

Suicide Squad is also apart of the same universe as the Arkham titles. They can't really build a MCU like universe for games if they just focus on the same character and location over and over. Its not like they just threw them together to make a GaaS MP cash grab either. Suicide Squad is a popular team of heroes, people have wanted a game for them for a long time and with the new movie coming that WB is really pushing the stars are basically aligning for them. They also confirmed Gotham Knights is playable solo (without bots) so if you want that standalone against the villain type game its right there.

We really need to wait for more info before we start screaming about GaaS anyway. Its pretty obvious Suicide Squad will be one (You can only play solo with bots yuck), but Gotham Knights having optional 2 player coop and RPG elements doesnt mean its a GaaS title. So much pessimism.

It's a little tricky but this can be done with free software.

Download OBS and set it up with your desired video and audio source.

Go to Tools - Output Timer and set 1h20 (or what you need) in "stop recording after" and check "enable recording timer every time" (if you need to automate it)
This will tell OBS to stop recording after 1h20.

If you can launch OBS when the Zoom thing has already started, you don't need anything else.

In case you need to schedule it:

You first need to create a batch file (otherwise scheduling OBS to launch will result in an error for some reason).

To do that:
Launch notepad and paste this: start /d "C:\Program Files\obs-studio\bin\64bit" obs64.exe --startrecording (if you install OBS in a different directory, insert the correct one between the "")
Save the file (on desktop is fine)
Edit the extension of the file you just created from .txt to .bat

Launch Task Scheduler on Win10
Click 'Create basic task' and give it a name
Select how often the event should be triggered depending on your needs
Select 'Start a program'
Select the .bat file you've just created
Finish

That's it. Don't forget to be logged into your account when you leave your house.

If you want, you can also schedule your system to shut down with Task Scheduler. Do as above and write "shutdown" under program/script and "/s /t 0" as argument.

Hope it helps.

Count me in the sceptical camp for Justice League.

Not a fan of the co-op focus or that it is rumoured to be a Destiny-like.

Got myself a new Xbox One controller and retiring my old 360 after 9.5 years of service (RIP).

Which games utilize it's trigger haptic feedback and/or rumble?
Forza Horizon 3 and 4 use it as well. Haven't played Forza 7, but presumably that does too.
I want to say Gears 5 also, but I'm not entirely sure.

Oh, so that's what it is called. When I tried the demo for Forza Horizon 3 I experienced something different from the controller where the triggers vibrated differently. It was nice rumbling 😁

That's what I thought. Not many games use it...
Cool, thanks.

Spiritfarer is great, I'm really glad that It exists.

About the DC stuff: I'll be cautiously optimistic about the Gotham game, but I couldn't care less about another game from Rocksteady, so 0 interest for Suicide Squad.
At least the game, Suicide Squad the movie looks bonkers and fun. I'll watch that.

Isn't all the GaaS crap just a reskin of the old "everyone needs to release a MMORPG with a subscription model"?

In other words, 1 or 2 games will succeed, the rest will die in some kind of Limbo.
often the idea is with these microtransactions is to find "whales" who'll spent tons of money on pointless crap. So it's less a type of genre and more something forcefully added to any type of game.

the service aspect is fairy generic, can mean a lot of things,
Also this isn't a new idea at all, Valve has been talking about games as a service like for ever

Not quite.

In the MMO craze back in the day, everyone made the same game but with different skins, which are WoW clones. But these MMO-lite games can be anything, from action, RPG-lite, shooter, or the combination of them. Virtually any franchise from any big studio can be converted to a gaas.

Another option is to try Windows 10 GameBar Recording. You can tell Gamebar that anything is a game and it will allow you to record it.
If Zoom is anything like Teams when you record a meeting the recording stops when the meeting ends. I've only used Zoom once for a test run at work so i have no experience with the client.

Local Recording a Zoom Meeting

As for scheduling a recording, no idea sorry.

Funny. Banners similar to Fall Guys' banner, with Woodle Tree in there:

Same with HL²: Lost Coast:

Not funny: SteamSpy has changed its API.
Downloading a small database of Steam apps from SteamSpy could take up to an hour now due to the pagination and rate limit.

Code:
  ### all ###

Returns all games with owners data sorted by owners. Returns 1,000 entries per page.

  * page - page number for the list (starts at 0)

Rate limit: 1 request per 60 seconds

Saw this in the latest PC Gamer magazine in the Free Games section. Do we have a Free Games thread?

Symphonia a musical platformer which looks gorgeous. Also on Switch. Short but looks and plays really nicely and has an interesting jump mechanic apparently.

That's the best summary of those reveals for me too :p.

Seriously, the reason the batman games were great was because there was a commitment to the theme of being batman. The game's format, the mood, the story structure, the encounters, the game mechanics, the traversal, the detective vision, everything was about being Batman. I have no issues playing another protagonist but taking the formula without the character is really a poor choice in my opinion. It doesn't fit and is soulless.

I want to say that I like the idea of the non-Batman Batman game. Gotham Knights looks like a chance to finally showcase the other not Batman characters in that world who are also cool despite not being Batman. It's not an Arkham game, it says so in the title. I don't need to be Batman to have a good game, if the game is fun it can be great. However with the "levels" of enemies and focus on co-op its sort of looking like The Division meets Gotham City which is NOT something I'm looking for at all. We'll see.

The suicide squad game, I have no idea about. They showed no gameplay. It sounds like a shooter? Though Harley and Shark Man were using melee weapons. That one dude could fly. I have no idea what that game is. I assume it will be a service game, since that was the scuttlebutt before hand. Very unsure. The characters seem good (Captain Boomerang!), but the monetization could ruin it. I've got an open mind, but gonna wait for receipts on this one.

Xbox Game Pass stays winning. I normally wouldn't be interested in a Touhou game, but I love good Metroidvanias, it's at Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam, and I quite liked the only previous game I played from this developer (the Shin Megami Tensei spinoff), so yeah, I'm down
