Aaand my refund request was denied. Valve can really go to hell this time.
I could be wrong but isn't the refund process almost automatic if you meet the requirements. I do recall that you can still make multiple refund request and that eventually someone will take a lot at it and then decide to allow a refund or not.

I wonder if this will turn into another Tomb Raider review bomb where people will be upset that it went on sale shortly after release.

System shock deserves better then the Night Dive Studios, stick to to getting old games to work, don't mess with something you don't have clue how it works. the same goes for Piranhna games, literally trash developers that worked on Duke Nukem Forever and shovelware somehow found Mechwarrior in the bin that their company works in.

Should i buy Disco Elysium now or will the price be lower in the winter sale? ...... :face-with-cold-sweat:
I've paid full price and it was worth every penny. That being said, even if it'll be cheaper, I don't think it'll be by more than 10%

System Shock demo is cool. but needs some work on combat and UI intuitivity. Btw, when you die, you respawn where the demo started.

I have not played the original System Shock, so can't say if the remake is faithful to it or not.

The demo received an update and now it is crashing at startup. :(

I wouldn’t blame people if they review bomb it.
Well I just did just in case that helps pushing Valve to address this particular case.

I mean, it's just 13 euros or so but I'm incredibly pissed off by this so I'm making it a matter of principle more than anything. I've waited for a month and passed on many better deals to have the game on Steam. This is just scummy as hell.

Steam reviews is more similar to rottentomatoes than to a normal scale of reviews because it is just based on 2 options (like or not).
There's more to appreciation of a game than its defined parameters / flaws as a software and the experience it gives to any user hugely depends on what you're looking for in terms of emotions, mechanical requirements if any, and another whole bunch of variables. Knowing that review bombings are a thing in the back of one's mind helps with having a bigger picture of what is on display when you peruse through Steam reviews.

What I like to do basically is to focus on the really negative ones and see if said reviews are genuine. If a particular set of problems is described I will then look at patterns in order to establish a verdict on what appears to be the real issue at hand, while knowing that the pc park itself is varied enough to quite possibly not have the same issues from one user to another.

Now, you also got what you describe as the rotten tomatoes effect and I couldn't agree more, because the site itself is based on a fundamental, baseless logical fallacy which has ZERO VALUE whatsoever, that I cannot seriously take in consideration.

Basically "steam reviews are at 62%" is absolutely not enough in its own right. Its a huge baseless comfort zone meant to equaling an average of sentiments toward a definite verdict when you take it as is, since after all, its an user "global" review system. Which isn't a definite truth. Basically garbage

It would actually be really cool if Steam could facilitate something like this alongside big conventions like E3, where the public could play a bunch of demos at home and check them out alongside people in LA. Something Stadia-ish where the demo is streamed. Not that my internet connection could handle it, but that's another thing.

Along those lines, I wish Steam would let me wishlist anything I want, like Amazon does. Like games that don't have pages, or a book, or whatever. I'd use it just to keep track of stuff.

13 euros can be a lot for many people, so there's no wonders if people will review bomb the game.

I think with games, getting an overall "lets see what people that played the game thought" view with the review "score" is good for a first glance game. There are so many games on Steam and people playing them that they should give you a clear view of the general understanding of the game (and most games end up being positive).

Now, after the first glance, it is more about what you said, going into more detail of positive and negative reviews, and how much they played the game... which Steam is pretty good at doing.

Correct. On my end tho given my wild wild tastes I can't say they're ever useful outside of the hidden gem "happenings"

Sayonara looked great but I don't wanna support annapurna, they dealed their whole damn catalogue to Epic... How did that one escape? Or was it there long?
Thanks for warning me! Why didn't Steam mention that I was wishlisting a game from a publisher that I've put on ignore 🙁

Steam should offer some sort of price guarantee thing. If a game goes on sale (on Steam) within 1-2 weeks of you purchasing it, you get refunded the difference.
I sincerely hope that it will never happen outside of the allowed legal timing

they did ... devs/publishers aren't allowed to discount a newly released game for 3 weeks after release :p

The people in charge of sales and distribution at Rockstar are just miserable assholes. They could have at least given people some free gold bars for buying it early or something.

Its a shame all this bs has been happening with this title for the past month because RDR2 is so good. The writing, storytelling and worldbuilding is incredible. Its a visual stunner too.

I'm about 20hrs into the game and Its by far n away the best work they've ever done imo. It makes GTAV look like a big pile of trash written by shitheel teenagers.

Personally I find the Steam review aggregate to be more in line with my own opinion, for most games, than other sources (it can still be way off of course for some games, just more rarely than e.g. the press average on metacritic).
But that's not even that important -- what they are really great for it quickly getting a feeling for the strengths and weaknesses of an unknown game (and its PC version).
Negative Reviews are extremely important for my buying decisions. They could either positively or negatively influence my decision. Not everything I like is liked by other people and most minor things are overlooked by review sites.

The "(user)reviews are a mistake" people on the internet are just too lazy to interpret a review and just want a number that represents their fanboyism.

also pretty fun way to announce it
I don't get it.

Also I tried the skatebird game and its kind of meh. I like skateboarding and stuff like that but this game isn't really for me based off the demo.

The biggest issue that I had with it was the camera and the way the bird sort of moved. But I guess that is the point of the game.

As sort of a comparison I only played a bit of Skater XL when it first released in Early Access last year and that first more responsive (potentially something that I would like that to play), I did refund it since Skater XL did not seem like the kind of gameplay that I wanted. It was still an intreating game and I did have some fun doing some tricks

The good news is that I look forward to purchasing sacks of gems for 0.19€ each.

The bad news is that:
  • I have been crafting badges... I went from level 50 to level 80 during the past month...
  • My current gems will lose a third of their value since I bought them for 0.31€ per sack.
