I was on Neria which has/had 15k to 20k queues. I was a little pissed when my guildmates decided to abandon the server and begin new on Antares. It was the best decision ever. Antares has basically no queues, the only time was on Sunday evening with a 400 to 600 queue that was cleared in 10 minutes.

of course, it doesn't change the matchmaking issues which are region-wide or the occasional "heavy server load" message that even plops up when Antares has no queues but other servers in the region are overloaded

Reddit did a sample

The only servers with no queue during this period were Inanna, Thaemine, Antares, Brelshaza and Nineveh.
I’m on procyon and doing fine if I login after work, the issue is if I login like at 22.00

If you try to make a financial decision IF you should buy the Steam Deck depending on the playability of your games in your library, it shouldn't matter because you won't get a Steam Deck for a few months.
yup and with the way its moving right now 50-70 games tested a day and the inteded lag behind testing (as seen with P4G being marked Unsuported and yet valve devs tweeting about proton fixing it) .... the things will be radically different at the time first people get their diecks in hands , let alone when people in Q2+ delivery slot
They already have a solution to solve the problem, by making a DLC that unlocks the uncensored version. How difficult is it for them to implement that? Are the two versions of the game too different?
like i understand why would the adult-only version being free package added for every owner of normal version be a rpoblem for Valve , especialyl legaly .... but the way these devs are going about it is super weird given the options stgeam backend has

as for the versions being different , yeah iirc they did some engine changes which would make making it a simple DLC a problem

I ordered a boxed copy of Elden Ring for Steam. I still did not get any message that it was sent. I'm getting anxious. I don't want to miss out on all the fun this weekend :negative-blob:

I think that Valve should have tested a lot more games ahead of Steam Deck's launch. My own library is 80% untested games, I don't consider this an acceptable result. And this is with a two-month delay!
I think ideally they'd have more by now but I also don't think it's a big enough issue to stop shipping the first units out.
Those who will get their Decks in the first 1-2 months are probably almost entirely core-users who know what they're signing up for and the official compatibility list not being complete at the time most likely won't bother them.
By the time the more casual userbase would have to make a purchasing decisions, things will already look completely different.

It seems pretty clear though that a December launch would have been a horrible idea.

Yeah, while I appreciate Valve's Deck-validation program, I think it's a double-edged sword that will mislead many unfamiliar with the platform or PC gaming in general.

I'm already seeing it on enthusiast sites like the other forum who should know better. Yet inevitably many will look at those pooled validation counts and think, "Man, Deck can only run like 2% of Steam's overall library. That's lame." Completely ignoring that Deck is ostensibly a mini-PC that will run any non-VR Steam game with greater or lesser results.

The validation process checks for things like reasonable framerate and text readability. But some are black & whiting the process, thinking that if it's not on the list, it won't run. Like at all. In that context it's completely misleading.

My 2021 GOTY list is flush with indies that will likely never get around to being tested. Has nothing to do with actual Deck compatibility, it's just that they're low-visibility titles, making making them a low priority for even being screened to begin with.

Perhaps the faux handwringing and FUD will pass once the hardware actually gets in user's hands and people begin to realize that the validation program is just another perk (damn that unearned 30% cut!) and not a definitive YES/NO list.

By the way did you get to go to Legoland? Since that's in Carlsbad.
Oddly enough, my dad's housing development is roughly 1.5 miles up the road from Legoland. They even share the same street access off of Cannon Rd., so I pass the entrance every day I'm there, lol.

I've been visiting Carlsbad annually for over 25 years now and I still haven't made it to Legoland though. I really should do something about that one of these days.

Just tested Supraland on Manjaro, it runs flawlessly, controller no problem, can set a custom resolution that fits the deck, however, the UI gets a bit weird when i do (the pointer isnt aligned)
maybe its that, maybe something else, hard to tell.

lookind at that list , i have seen much nicher titles than those being alreaday tested :p

its just matter of the lag of public "verified" list behind the actual proton fixes and the timeout for devs to react to inicial verified state

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions, I promise you won't get disappointed by the content of the thread, I just need to decide what challenge I want to include (or you if you want to suggest something special) so yeah, thanks a lot everyone.

Lol I'm such a sheep. No interest in a new Souls game, I'm fed up with the challenge and I still have DS3 and some rip offs to play.
Then 95 aggregator score.
Choice quote (from an absolute moron, but still).
A look at screenshots only to see the map is gloriously reminiscent of TTRPGs.
...
Hype rising.

So does Elden Ring have a Difficulty setting or will that just never be a thing with From games?
I didn't follow ER and I'm nearly certain I can answer. Nope, no difficulty settings.

The dev apparently has been pretty lenient on the things you can summon or craft or whatever, to ease the thing for newcomers. Then again, because genius level brain, they apparently went ham on the boss difficulty. Give on one hand, take with another. 4d chess.
But I only skimmed two reviews and it could really be easier or harder, hard to parse through journalist fanboying and openly fapping over the game.

Schreier meanwhile meant that on his PC it ran better than the PS5 version. I doubt he has anything much more powerful than a 3080. Maybe a bug that reduces performance, or introduces stutters on certain builds.
Or the good old 'it only runs well on X brand CPU'.

Has to be something like that. Reports are too inconsistent not to be. I'm a little nervous about being on Alder Lake but we'll see...

Have fun guys :>
Heh, this is 99% me but man those review quotes are tugging at that 1%, lol.

One thing I find interesting is browsing the Review Thread and how many breathless GOTG / GOAT exclamations are pouring out of every page.

And I'm sitting in my little corner of the world thinking, "GOAT for who? In what context?"

WitE2 dropped only a few months ago and is already widely considered the greatest wargame of all time. Immeasurably more deep & complex than anything the market has seen to date, sans Grigsby's last outing almost a decade ago.

I guess for the strat & wargaming community you could say WitE2 is also the GOTG / GOAT as well. Only for a slightly different market.

Not downplaying Elden, like at all. In fact, as someone who got their fill after Demon/Dark 1, I can even see myself playing down the road.

Just find it funny how success stories such as this and other examples such as TLOU2 become the defacto definition of the greatest anything in a medium so diverse in content and audience tastes.

Super-happy it's reviewing well either way as that pushes me closer to trying it out for myself.

Even my Factorio / Aurora 4X / Strategic command / Black Ice / X3 Litcube / etc. gaming credit has respect for the complexity of Wite2

Third-person or first-person games always have a leg up in perceived greatness and value against purely tactical or strategic games. Games like X3:AP or Aurora 4X get automatic minus points because they "feel" like playing on Excel while the gameplay and core mechanics are deeper and better than 95% of the "cinematic experiences" that constantly get 90+% ratings.

Indeed.

AAA presentation is a hell of a drug.

It's why CDDA & Project Zomboid will never be taken as seriously as something like State of Decay or Dying Light in spite of the former being dramatically more immersive on a mechanical level than the latter.

All good either way. There's something out there for all fits and sizes.

I just get ornery when people claim anything is the one and only definition of GOAT in a medium so diverse in choice.
