Lots of cool stuff incoming shown in that Nintendo Direct.
Really curious about

It looks really good, but mechanics can always be a downer.
Like for

released recently, which I really, really disliked... too many characters and plot points thrown at you, but that would have been minor if the combat was enjoyable.
I'm greatly saddened that a lot of "modern" JRPGs like this see that random encounters are annoying... so they're visible, and you can't avoid them.
Having the simplistic combat mechanics like spamming Attack is replaced... by spamming buffs+debuffs+burst on every fight. So it's just as simplistic, but FAR longer despite being in no threat to die on regular encounters.
Grinding for levels is not a thing because you only get "level ups" with story beats... but you still grind an inane amount of battles to upgrade your skills (and also, level ups get you pretty meaningless upgrades like +10% DEF with only three skills slots so most are wasted, and the normal stats up just come from random interval in levels, so it's not rare to get effectively nothing with your level?!).

Man I dropped the game after a few hours because it just slow, boring and irritating to play. Awful progression and combat mechanics.

I was just thinking the other day how much I love dungeon crawlers. The Tartarus and Mementos from P3/P5 loop aspect is so much fun to play on Deck.

And I was thinking of what other games on Steam are able to provide something of that fun continuous gameplay.

Here goes Atlus announcing a trio of dungeon crawler remasters lol. The prices suck but depending on what else releases in the summer and if I got the time...I might pick up the first EO to try out.

Hmm, ok, I think I'm good. After watching the Direct more or less several times and talking some notes, I'm on top of it :sweaty-blob:

A ton of weeb games, the Switch is really the Vita we made along the way, several good exclusives...
Unfortunate that we are in year what, six or seven, and buying a switch feels mediocre future proof wise, because, that's some tempting lineup.

But I won't be stupid enough to buy another switch !

Or will I ?

I was ready to buy that new Zelda game, I almost never do it, but I really enjoyed BotW and Nintendo games never go down in price anyway, but now when they demand $70 for it, I think I will go with emulation instead. Normally I would wait a year or even more for a price decrease because I am a patient gamer, but this is Nintendo we are talking about, after 5 years we will maybe see a 20% discount for black Friday. I don't earn nearly enough to pay this kind of prices for games.

With Starfield and BaldursGate 3 coming in the 2nd half of the year. This year is disturbingly stacked for RPGs. Just a year round blitz wtf. I love it.

Might be one of those years where all I play is 5 long RPGs and not have time for anything else. Maybe I can sneak in Silksong as a palate cleanser somewhere along the way lol.

Blame Sony for that shit. They were the first of the big 3 to start the 70$ shit and the dominoes started to fall across the board soon after. No way Xbox and Nintendo were gonna lose out on profits like that.

Enjoued the demo of

like CoD in space

Liked the demo far more than the first game, still haven't bought the first game due to the price and bad sales, but I tried the demo of it.

This looks bad.
i feel like 505 is sabotaging their marketing ... from the local interview the game is not really primarly FPS (the devs compare it to Defender of the Crown/Xcom kinds of thing mixed with rogulike progression with the FPS parts being jusrt the battlemode) and yet its what the marketinf shows

Also the lipsync and gunplay totally makes it seem like they used EGS as unmarked Early access

Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon mission 14. This is war, motherfucker. Three lanes filled with ballisticians who shoot you from the other side of the map. My dudes are dropping left and right, but fuck no, reloading ! I won’t leave my boys in this hell.
Hours later, one afternoon wasted.

Woo boys, I think we have it in the bag, but it was frankly too hard. Let’s visit the town located near the start of the map.

‘Hello, I’m your new friend, the gentle ballistician who can one shot the bad ballisticians with my magical electric ammos, ain’t this swell, my new friend ?’

Oh… OH.

Valve is planning on shipping a full-on update-sized Team Fortress 2 update — with items, maps, taunts, unusual effects, war paints and "who knows what else" this year.

They're asking to get submissions into the Steam Workshop by May 1st.

Looks like they kept the same exact animation system in the game which is unfortunate as it was very janky and uneven. When platforming it's not a huge deal it just looks weird and a bit "off", but in combat I had a rough time in the first game because of how unsmooth it was. It never felt fun or satisfying I constantly felt like I was fighting the janky animation system to learn attack patterns and parries.
Something that also annoys me about both the previous game and what I see in the video is how weak lightsabers are. You're fighting with blunt glowsticks that every mook can block. I'd be perfectly fine if nothing changed and Cal actually used ordinary weapons, as a lone fugitive Jedi might after losing or breaking their saber, or for fear of being caught with it and exposed. The setting of Fallen Order was perfect for a saberless Jedi. Just reskin the saber into sticks and I'm fine with the balance....

...But it really bugs me when games introduce weapons that are defined by their power and just divide their damage by ten to keep things "balanced". Like Uncharted 4 where every mook can shrug off a .45 to the chest. Or the crotch.

A long time ago, in a galax.. actually, in this galaxy, the Jedi Knight series got lightsabers and their balance more or less right. Why can't we now? And won't somebody please (competently) remake or make something like Jedi Academy? Please?
