By the way it sucks when people don't fact check or point to sources and claim it as their own (well sort of). An example of this is with the Harry Potter steam numbers. They are saying Cyberpunk only has 800k something but we know it had over one million in it's launch month.

Benji stuff just doesn't seem accurate/he may just know what he is talking about with PC numbers

The issue is people keep citing SteamCharts. Which doesnt update as frequently as SteamDB’s numbers. So a lot of their numbers are wildly inaccurate.

Cyberpunk had over a million simultaneous players on Steam day one.
GhostTrick releasing on steam

About time, great game
I for one am glad I will never have to bother differentiating reality from fantasy any longer.

Played a few demos last night...

I hadn't heard of this game before now and it's the biggest surprise for me so far. It has the same wholesome, cheerful vibes as A Short Hike and plays like Cloudpunk to some extent. The demo itself is quite short (maybe 10-15 minutes) but they show a video at the end which makes it look like the full game will be much bigger with lots to explore.

--

This one sounds great and it has some nice ideas but it's just too complicated and cumbersome for me. It's almost a simulation with very involved detective gameplay. I absolutely love the idea of the game but the more I played it the more it felt like doing what the game was asking wasn't actually fun. And that's when the demo has a fully guided mission telling you exactly what to do. It'll be far more obtuse when you play the actual game and have to figure everything out yourself. I would still recommend people check it out because it's very unique and ambitious and you'll love it if it clicks for you.

--

This one is a sidescrolling plaformer with some light puzzle solving. It looks quite nice and plays well. I played it for about 10 minutes and then just pressed Alt-F4. There have been just way too many sidescrollers/platformers and I think a game like this needs to be something really special for me to be interested. This one is okay/competent but not special.

This was a disappointment, which is a shame because I had it on my wishlist for years. When you first launch the demo you can't even interact with the main menu easily. Controllers are not detected properly and there's no mouse support. You literally have to to use keyboard buttons to move around the menu. You can go into the settings and try and calibrate your controller and what happened for me is that the stick movement was being detected but no buttons were so I couldn't even back out of the menu. Had to kill the game and restart it. How can you release a demo where your main menu doesn't work? Anyway I started the game with the keyboard buttons and played it for a bit and it just seemed like a dull, vapid game. All you do is talk to people and do fetch quests or gather stuff, craft it into other stuff and sell it. The strange thing is that this is pretty much exactly what you do in that witch game I talked about above and yet my demeanor towards that game is far more positive than it is for this one. I think the main menu nonsense and the thought that it took this long to come up with this just soured me on the game, and it went off my wishlist.

This is one demo I wanted to play but decided not to. Mostly because there's so much other stuff to play and I'm almost certainly going to buy it anyway. Unlike other demos, this one will actually take several hours to properly play through. Still, I'm mentioning it here because it seems like a really interesting wargame and I think it's worth looking at if you're interested in the genre. It's a big download though (25gb). If that's too much, here's a video of a scenario uploaded by the devs that you can look at to see how it looks and plays.

Quite good Groupees bundle. Three games: Prison Archict, Super Meat Boy Forever and Exit the Dungeon. But the price is quite steep for three games

In case you have forgotten Groupees. They were one of the bundle sites that competed when there were tons of other bundles sites. The later years they have been less and less active and in the end they went silent or gone. Not sure what has happened. But they have restarted and this is one of their newer bundles

SNK publisher sale, looks like some of their games are having their highest discounts so far.
I’m teetering on whether to pick up Samurai Showdown with all the dlc. I doubt I’d play it a ton, but I’d like to have it for when I’m in the mood.
I see also it’s Deck Verified which is a nice bonus.

He'd rather make Mobage with SEGA now instead of a new NieR

The premise is bonkers. SEGA is the evil corp which rules the world, and classic SEGA titles are turned into anime girls. It's crazy that the game got greenlit. I am very interested in trying it though. During the interview they also say it will be localized in multiple languages and titles from other gaming companies will appear as well.

There's a Kickstarter in the link with some more info on the game.

Damn, was about to buy Metroid Prime Remastered even if I found the price a bit high, but tested the game out on Ryujinx and it's running fine as hell there. So unless the game suddenly get's problem on Ryu, I won't buy it simply because I find the price too high

I did get my paycheck today, so will buy Hi-Fi Rush, finally.

Denuvo works I guess. No wonder they announced it's coming to Switch (late I guess but may apply to the next one). So much for the 'slow demise' thread :(

Damn those #s for Hogwarts are impressive. 665k concurrent and 95% positive reviews.

Got to admit its very surprising. All the trailers they showed last year made it look very boring and the gameplay just looked choppy. But I guess the brand is too popular and Avalanche put together an ambitious game. Good for them but I just never gave a shit about HP. I saw the first movie and it was very mid. And I watched one of the fantastic beasts movies which was boring too. Still good for Avalanche and Warner. They must have had everything work against them with all the JKRowling shit over the years. I'm surprised any of the devs were even motivated to work on the game. Well at least she didn't write the story or be part of the game dev in any way. I guess that made it easier for people to support it.

I wonder what the next big singleplayer game will top theses numbers. I wanna say Starfield but Science Fiction games aren't anywhere near as popular as fantasy stuff. And the marketing blitz + hype cycles for Cyberpunk were god tier.

But may Bethesda could pull it off. I think Starfield would need to have 90+ metacritic to hit 600k+ concurrent. Being on Gamepass will probably knock the #s down a bit. But then again Fallout4 did insane #s and wasn't that great of a game. PC gamers love their Bethesda games and their modding potential is massive compared to anything else so we will see.

Other than Starfield I don't know. ES6 will blow these #s away but that is very far from now. Same with Witcher 4.

Maybe a new Bungie game could do it but that will be multiplayer always online for sure. I wonder how well Armored Core 6 will do. FromSoft is on fire so that could be an impressive # too.

I can't wait till COD get added in

Joking aside

I'm guessing the beginning of February is be a new financial quarter? That would explain why I heard like 5 different JRPG are having their 20+ anniversary within 3 days of each other

Pretty cool update for Tower Unite. Now features emulation support!
Tower Unite now features retro game emulation support, courtesy of Libretro! Libretro is a wonderful framework that allows for multiple systems to be emulated in one neat package!

Emulators can now be played within your Tower Unite Condo, supporting 27 retro game systems. Wow!

Please keep in mind that this feature is experimental, but we have taken many steps to make it as accessible and easy to set up as possible!

I’ve changed my stance on my ambivalent and less-judgmental boycott on Hogwarts Legacy.

I think the JKR trans stuff is abhorrent, and I’d decided to not support the game because of that. Not a penny of my money will go into that wretched person’s coffers so long as I can help it.

And while I disagree with this stance, I can see why some may separate this game from her since she had pretty much no involvement with its creation, but all the anti-Semitic shit that infests that game is inexcusable.

The developers made a conscious choice to make their game racist. There’s no excusing that.

Anyone who worked on that game should be ashamed of themselves. You can’t separate art from the “artist” here - this game is racist as fuck.

So yeah, fuck that shit to high heaven. That game is tainted.

I tried this last night with a bunch of games on different platforms and it works really well. You can use the handheld console anywhere, including other peoples condos and the lobby. Its crazy how well it works lol. My friend was building his condo last night and I played Sonic Adventure 2 on the handheld in the corner while we talked in voice char and it was a chill vibe. Very cool addition.

Sonic Origins Plus has been rated in Korea, Sonic Origins last patch was 6 months ago, but it has been getting alot of activity on SteamDB for several months, it makes sense that they were working on more than just a patch this whole time:

Please Sega I beg you, just fix the S3 proto songs. That's all I need. I accept the MJ tracks are gone forever but please never let Jun Senoue near a synthetizer again. You have Tee Lopes's number for fuck sake

How did this even got in the final release oh my god. Even the unfinished prototype version sounds so much better

And don't even get me started on Launch Base Act 2
Well at least I still have AIR

It’s pretty easy to mod the good music back into Origins on PC and Deck. Literally all I had to do was drag and drop a file into a folder and I was done.

Just don’t play it on console.

Sonic 3 music and sound effects are also muffled unlike the other games, so I'm using a few sound related mods.

Other than these I'm also using the blur fix and roll jump lock fix (sonic 1 and 2) mods.
Though all of this should have been fixed by SEGA long ago. :/
