We literally cannot progress past the first Biome without one or both of us suffering a "Fatal Error" crash.... Which in this kinda game is just shit feeling.
And it's only been happening since the patch they dropped the other day...

We played for like 4.5 hours on day one without a single issue or problem. Another one of those times where I really wish Steam let you turn down patches or roll back.
I've also encountered some bugs that are annoying, not a fatal crash bug but still.

First one is just a black screen after falling down and respawn. That happened twice. Game still running fine and I can move and hear everything, but the screen is just black. Had to force quit but luckily can still resume the game just fine.

Second, in the desert biome, using the item "transport to an unknown location" and finishing its room, after getting back to the main map of the game, I died instantly in a desert storm cutscene. The game probably thinks I'm out of bounds, that's why the cutscene started.

After googling it, seems like a similar bug is happening in the ps5 version as well, shown here.

Was an ff8 remake ever not dead? People begged square for decades to remake ff7, to the point of square trolling people with a tech demo for the ps3 showcasing a remade intro boss fight and then never bringing it up again.

My friend had the same issue after the patch, with crashes almost every 10 minutes. (Strangely I was unaffected on a rather similar setup)
As far as we could tell it also wasn't related at all to what weapons are in use, or anything else in-game.

What seems to have fixed it completely for him is using the "-dx11" command line flag. While with DX12 it was crashing very frequently, he hasn't had a single crash yet with DX11.

It's funny to me that WB is releasing Suicide Squad in same year as Hogwarts and that Hogwarts, purely single-player game with 0 MTX will absolutely destroy Suicide Squad in sales and probably revenue. I know that SS is kinda their long game because it's GAAS but I have feeling that in the end it won't be success they were hoping for
i found it extremely tragic .... the actual gameplay looks like it could be fun potentially fun game deep down (the recent vid made it seem like Sunset Overdrive / Saints Row 4 kind of gameplay wibe) ... but seems absolutely dragged down to the mud by the GaaS crap attached to it nonsensically and design decitions tied to them .... kinda mindblowing feat post Avengers flop

I’m surprised people are asking for Ff8 remake when Ff9 remake will be first.
The question is what kind of remake we will get seven alike or trials of mana look.

I just want modern CGI (and inserted CGI characters instead of ingame characters) for
Dollet Attack
Battle of the Gardens
Missile attack
Lunar Cry

‘Leaving PC Gaming for consoles’, for the majority of people who would do that, does not mean quitting PC Gaming. You still buy and play on PC, but you simply play most of the big stuff elsewhere. Because of bad ports, because of hardware price, etc.

I started PC gaming on a 486dx33, and there where whole years when I played a lot on consoles. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t ultimately come back to maining PC. It’s a matter of money and the quality of the games port.

As for me I’m tempted by the PS5, but I have the nagging feeling that it would be a waste of money. For one games price is out of control there. And I have no idea if I could stomach the quality downgrade from a good PC (I’m no fps fanatic, so maybe).
This is me right now.
My long in the tooth PC and Steam Deck are where I'm playing most things nowadays but use PS5/Series S for AAA.
I was going to build a new rig but I'll hold off a while yet I think with this set up now.

And as an aside, god AAA gaming is dire these days. That Sony SoP and particularly Suicide Squad was grim.
Everything is either a GaaS and/or open world, no wonder I play way less AAA than I used to.

I've been playing Atomic Heart and believed I came across a showstopper bug as I thought I couldn't progress after beating a boss. Turns out there were a flight of stairs behind the boss I didn't notice. I spent about 20 minutes wandering around and redid the boss fight before I figured it out. Whoops!

Who would have thought that getting a girlfriend and spending all my time with her would mean I have no time for games.😂
I know exactly what you mean now
Solution is to turn your girlfriend into....

a gamer!
I'm trying and failing.
She played The Quarry and got the ending where she killed everyone, without aiming for it. I was kinda impressed tbh.

Wait, did I see in that BG3 trailer something approaching a third person camera? That plus controller support (since it comes to PS5 at launch) means I might be interested.

BTW Sven said on twitter they do not play exclusivity game, so I expect Xbox release to happen some time after. Probably question of manpower and not moneyhat?

So just lookign at TLoU store page and deluxe says :

  • The Last of Us single-player story and Left Behind prequel chapter

Is there actual content locked behind the deluxe?

What were the leaks?

I just watched the 6 minute gameplay trailer and man it looks like a 360 era shooter to me (third person shoot the weakpoint gameplay). Visually not very good looking either. People are saying it's an always online, battlepass GAAS type game but that doesn't come across in the trailer. Is that what the leak was?
Suicide Squad - Kill the Justice League, Unconfirmed/Rumored Plot (POSSIBLE SPOILERS) Rumor | ResetEra

It basically leaks the entire plot if it's real so yeah know that before clicking. Going through it again there does appear to be a few changes like Lex being alive in the demonstration but maybe he still dies later.

Wait, Sony money hatted Baldurs Gate 3, mother fuckers! Even though I already have it on steam, my computer doesn't seem good enough to run it so was going to buy it on xbox also.:minos_sad:
Unclear yet. They could have just made a deal to fund a PS port day 1. Sony is normally pretty up front about something being exclusive and no one's been able to find any wording saying it is.

There shouldn't be. On PS5 the standard version had the game and left behind included.

edit: Regarding BG3 this seems pretty clear

I'm very impressed with the storytelling in Guardians of the Galaxy. The dialogs and motion capture are truly excellent! Sometimes I even forget I'm playing a game instead of watching a movie. :)

Sadly the combat is a lot more fun to watch than actually playing, but the storytelling keeps me going.

I loved that game. Shame we won't get a sequel.

It took a while for the combat to click but I started enjoying it a lot more once I stopped thinking of it as a third-person shooter and started seeing it as a kind of Brutal Legend-like RTS where Star-Lord is a glorified cursor. Using all the guardians as a team is super fun once you get used to it.

Dang that sucks. Crashes are always frustrating and even more so in a run based game. My friend was actually having the fatal error issue in single player before the last patch which fixed it for him. Hopefully they can get it sorted soon so you guys can get back to it.

I'm honestly surprised that a sequel to The Forest is drawing that many users. Was the first game that appreciated? I always saw it as something that spent a really long time in the early access phase and cashed in a bit on the survival craze, but with more focus on nice graphics.

A typical PC release of the past 3 years
Stuttering ? A little surprised as a reviewer said it ran butter smooth for them. Just a little, it's in line with every fucking release.

This is me right now.

SoP was terribad something fierce. I wasn't expecting anything and I was still let down.
I'm exactly at the point when I could go console to wait for future GPU, but bruh, if that's the offering I'm not running a charity.

If big releases keep stuttering I suppose I will buy a PS5, but zero effort from Sony to tempt me.

PS. Sony, I get that you want to make a Sony Direct, but please work on it, even the show presentation was barebone.

The first game was pretty well received. It was at the early start of the survival trend and had higher production values along with a story. Checking charts it is estimated to have sold between 12M and 28M copies, my guess is it is closer to 15M to 18M. Last official number I could find was 5.3M back in 2018, but the game has since left Early Access and remained popular amongst streamers and Youtubers.

The Forest was my first early access Steam game. I remember that shit only 15$ at launch and such an unoptimized unity mess. And so barebones too. The concept was very appealing tho as both a horror and survival game.

But give them credit for what they did with that game and now 9 years later with this sequel. Its a good story that new indie devs should look up to.

Wo Long is capped at 60 on PC and supports 120 on Xbox ? Ok :so-good-blob:
Seems only related to the Steam demo, on MS Store it has 120fps apparently (with othter issues tho). It will be 120fps everywhere on release, but after Atomic Heart we're back again on Stutter City

The new OOTP trailer has some impressive on-field character animations. Like night & day compared to the older releases.

I know it's a spreadsheet sim, so graphics aren't the game's focus. But that's an appreciable bump in immersion.

Haven't played OOTP in a few years, so it looks like this might be a good time to dive back in.

(I guess deep down we're all just dirty graphic whores in the end, lol.)

It spent a lot of time in EA, but in the end managed to fix its issues and do a complete game experience that's just appealing if you like survival games in general, but more importantly, it's a good game if you want an action game with friends - or even alone - and don't care too much about the gathering and crafting aspect beyond bare minimum.

It hits the sweet spot of having some survival aspects that don't drag the experience too much, and has genuinely great exploration of caves and other important areas with a lot of visual storytelling and hints to guide you to them, while unlocking new tools that work almost like light metroidvania elements to progress, making good use of more enclosed and linear segments.

The success was undeniably linked to its popularity on youtube and twitch (its peak CCU was attained last year with full release for a reason), but it mostly worked and grew over years because it's not a full sandbox, and instead takes time to set up and tell a story on top of the usual survival game so it reached a much larger part of the gaming population.
I expect that a bunch of other games will do similar things (and some already did like Green Hell), and ironically it's the anti-GaaS: the game is made to have an ending that hits hard and to not last forever.

Jesus at the past few days. Kerbal 2, The Forest 2, CoH3, Atomic Heart, Octopath 2.

4 of those are also only on Steam (not counting Windows Store).

While EGS on the other hands writes "EGS exclusive" for Tchia on the front page.

Imagine how cringey it would be if Valve wrote "Steam exclusive" for Steam only games.
