Just hit chapter 5 in RDR2. Im enjoying this game.
Same for me except a big chunk of what would have been day one purchases for me are now "wait for 75% off" purchases. I figure devs and publishers not giving a shit about making their product easy for me to buy where and when I want saved me $300+ last year alone. With over 2,500 games in my Steam account and Game Pass, it's not like I even feel like I am missing out on always having something awesome to play.
2019 had bigger PC games than 2018 though.

Im gonna have to play Code Vein at some point, bought it during the winter sale I think. Really liked the demo.
TioChuck I enjoyed Code Vein way more than i thought i would. Finished two playthroughs so far and it's still installed ready for another run sometime soon.

Lunar Sale ... went with Minoria and that (non-GFWL) Bulletstorm remaster, which is down to a more reasonable $6 for the game I already pretty much have.
I'm also noticing that steam thinks I've played Wolfensten New Order for 1.5 hrs, despite having played through it entirely 4 or 5 times. I need to get into speed running (Awesome Games Timed Incorrectly).

its because it comes in a bundle with Linear Bounded Phenogram for free with no option to buy the base game on its own so Steam doesn't list a price..

And I bought TWD Season 2 and ICEY so far in this sale. I really don't want to put more money in my wallet but if I do I will probably pick FM20 plus something else. Maybe Disco Elysium but I'm not sure if it's my thing.

Finished Children of Morta.
It was... alright.
The pixel art is real nice... but you don't see much of it as it's pretty zoomed in dungeons and you can't freely explore the "hub". Weird choice, although it does look good in the frequent cutscenes.
Speaking of which, I sure as hell did not expect the game to be this story heavy, with plenty of narrated cut scenes, even for the side content (that is cute but not exactly relevant to anything... it helps for the world building I guess? Kinda weak).
The combat is very satisfying, all six characters are very different and their skill trees are quite acceptable for the length of the game (around 12-15h), good variety of playstyles, plenty of party wide buffs, so you're not funneled into a single character (not that you can as they get tired anyway)... the RPG part is good.
On the other hand, the rogue-like (or well, The Binding of Isaac-like because it's more than a little inspired by) levels are pretty bland and pretty samey. They don't change enough, the boss is always the same in each level, the ennemies are not varied (with a liberal use of palette swaps, a skeleton, a mummy or a robot... are pretty much the same thing with slightly more range), and you don't get tons of unlocks like in other games. There's a decent amount of items to find (and lose after the run is over), but outside of skill runes to unlock in the skill tree of each character, you get similar stuff every run.
In general, it's undercooked, and the rogue-like aspect is more of a disservice. Especially for people that don't like the genre, as you lose progress... the minor one anyway, as any XP and gold gained is kept, so "true" upgrades are permanent and death is not punishing at all.
I don't like those systems, but here it works "okay", as it's much more of an RPG with RNG levels than a rogue-like. It's done better than in games like Rogue Legacy where you just grind grind grind, here at least you can win without many upgrades.
But it slows down the game quite a bit... and makes the late game very easy. When you have a whole bunch of cross character buffs and super strong runes (I dig that aspect, your other characters popping up to save your butt or giving you OP consumables mid dungeon is really cool) , access to strong skills like the stuns... the game's much harder early on than on the last boss that's for sure.
I would have liked the game to be better than it is. Story and combat are very solid, but it feels a bit shaky in its level design, pacing and progression.

I heard that before starting it so I had high expectations, and it's a shame that it didn't click because the combat felt so good.
Everything else though.
I played Darksiders 3 recently, and it's probably my favorite of the three.
The first has the best dungeons by far, but combat is veeery simplistic, quite slow and repetitive. It feels like a slow ass God of War with finishers because QTE were all the rage back then. Fucking hell do I HATE those fucking "cinematic moments" repeated for every single mob.
Also, most zones are not very interesting, mechanically and artistically. The other two are better for that, especially the third with its Dark Souls-like approach in level design, rather than Zelda-ish.
Kinda want to replay Darksiders 2 now, maybe in the easiest mode available to avoid the loot grind. The gear system was an affront to the gaming gods.

It came out barely 2.5 months ago and its 90% off, so I'm going to say... No
All of the steam reviews it will display for me are negative lol
The biggest complaint I've heard is that it was way overpriced for a not completely awful (but not good) basic movie tie-in game but for that price it may very well be worth it if you have other people to play it with.

Definitely a shocker. I dropped the 2nd one because of how much of a departure it was to the first. I loved the dungeon puzzles and felt let down by the 2nd's more open design.
I have yet to play 3 because it keeps dropping to like $20, and won't budge.
Seeing the discussion about this in some places on the web, just reminds me why how Meta is like the only sane place in the world left anymore about PC discussions. "It's just a launcher, it doesn't deserve 30%", "people boycotting our lord and saviour EGS are to blame",
Well I'll be waiting still anyways. I've had Darksiders 2 in my backlog for 7 years, and that doesn't look to be changing anytime soon.

That's also completely omitting how most of the new live service games pretty much ALL failed which absolutely didn't help. It is a weak year for pc gaming because of all the shit ports / versions there were and how quickly informed people are now.
Long are now gone the loyalist non sensical days which inflated results (these old Bethesda / Bioware days). Also, gamepass and whatnot. Sorry but all these games outside of Elysium (which also is niche) aren't exactly what I'd buy a pc for
