I understand your position. But if everyone thinks like this, Epic WILL succeed with their current strategy. Don't forget what their end goal is: devs releasing their games exclusive on EGS without Epic having to moneyhat them. What Epic needs to achieve this, is proof that games sell as well on their store as they would sell on Steam. Anyone buying games on EGS helps them to achieve this.Let me try and properly state my position on this, this time.
Let's say we have a vote consisting of a very sizable population, in the magnitude of millions. The final result of that vote represents the overall majority opinion. A person's individual vote doesn't actually mean much in how it influences that final result, and their individual vote does not represent that final result. What's more important is how that person can work within their sphere of influence to change that overall opinion, as well as what that opinion actually is.
So, I do not feel that my one purchase weighs against the people who will never buy anything on the Epic Store, the efforts I have and will continue to make to persuade people against it, and Epic's sheer incompetence. If nothing else, I can jump in whenever someone says so and so can't say anything about EGS because they've never used it. Like how there doesn't seem to be offline play, that'll be annoying when I move houses soon...
This said: it's up to everyone to decide if they want to use EGS or not. I'm only trying to point out the consequences for doing so, not to judge anyone doing otherwise.
