I kind of wish I didn't watch the IGN video...It's gonna be really difficult for me to resist the urge not to reserve one.
Valve should have called it Switch Pro![]()
Its easier if its not available in your regionI kind of wish I didn't watch the IGN video...It's gonna be really difficult for me to resist the urge not to reserve one.![]()
Well you can add storage space, but that comes back to my earlier post, what about transfer speed ?64gb isnt kinda low?
A new Steam operating system
On Steam Deck, your games run on a different operating system than the one on your desktop PC. It's a new version of SteamOS, built with Steam Deck in mind and optimized for a handheld gaming experience. It comes with Proton, a compatibility layer that makes it possible to run your games without any porting work needed from developers. For Deck, we're vastly improving Proton's game compatibility and support for anti-cheat solutions by working directly with the vendors. “Hold on to your butts!”

Seeing a lot of comments about how ugly it is.
Am I the only one who doesn't care because I will be looking at the screen while using it?
Do you get all your Steam games?
Do you get all your Steam games?
Yup, you can even play non-Steam games and install other launchers on it too.Of course. No guarantee 100% of them run, but apparently you can install windows.
Emulation has generally little overhead on the GPU side. If a game runs sufficiently well on the CPU in the handheld running it at higher res shouldn't be a big issue. (The former will still be an issue for many games)@ only 2 (?) teraflops it probably can't really enhance the games since emulation will eat up power more than native, if it can even run them fullspeed (I think).
I don't find it ugly but then again all android phones etc. look the same to me but apparently some rectangles are waaaay different to others for some, I dunno.
Steam controller wasn't and i still ended up importing that. and paying more than double the price. That's why this has me shook. have to tell myself no.Its easier if its not available in your region![]()
That's probably the most hipster image I've seen
Well I'm assuming they didn't shove a crazy powerful CPU and only gimp the GPU side but rather balance it to similar synergy levels compared to desktop.Emulation has generally little overhead on the GPU side. If a game runs sufficiently well on the CPU in the handheld running it at higher res shouldn't be a big issue. (The former will still be an issue for many games)
Just in time for the new Melty game
I'd say 800p is a good decision overall for a handheld in this category.800p screen and December is disappointing but that price tag is amazing. Valve is fucking crazy. It really is a portable PS4 with Steam library![]()
It won't be a Switch level success, but I hope it can find its niche and be moderately successful.
Does the steam deck have gyro?
Does the steam deck have gyro?

In the Gabe interview he mentioned the 400 price point as "painful" so I guess they had to compromise somewhere to get so low (plus it drives Power users to the pricier SKUs).64gb isnt kinda low?
Hey hey hey....Saw a guy on Era calling it the "GabeBoy". Love it.
