You know, apart from ocasionally losing logon credentials, I don't really have much of a problem with Uplay/Ubisoft Connect/Whateverthefucktheywannacallit, it mostly stays out of the way.
I really hope this facelift won't result in yet another slow ass bloated mess (like EGS).
They lost me when they ditched all the reward system. Years of account management vanished in a second, with it we even lost leaderboards and personal records that were once stored in the uPlay client

I was actually wondering if Uncharted might get another patch at some point, afair they didn't leave it in a perfect place and it wouldn't surprise me if some of the work they've done with TLOUP 1 would/could work itself back into Uncharted as well.

I'll try to be there and tell you all if it's hype or not.

PS I just learned about French Tacos.

My dumb question, if French people were to go to the US and order tacos, are they under the assumption that's it's french taco? (Most foods at restaurants have images, so I'm guessing that's not the case?). In France regular tacos are called Mexican Tacos.

In Mexico there is a type of bread called French Bread (pan Frances) but I'm not sure what they are called in France

This is me learning more about the rest of the world.

It's a recent invention that got popular with the shitty fast food chain Otacos, and it's tacos just like the Belgian "mitraillette" is a poutine. That is to say, not at all beyond a few common ingredients.
I think the majority of French people would expect something more akin to cheap tex mex tacos otherwise (like you'd find a bit everywhere on the planet really), the really good actually Mexican tacos are far and few between.
Note that people are stupid as fuck, so ymmv.

Pretty sure this is the small little bread, bollilo, right? There are rough equivalents (and not only in France), but it's more of a local thing, it's just an extension of the bread category that baguettes belong to.
Supposedly it comes from the French interventions in Mexico, but considering that's it's common in large parts of South America, it seems more likely to have come from earlier settlers, from France, Italy, and obviously Spain making breads similar to what they ate in Europe.

It looks like game could get another patch at least.
It's likely getting one given that "release candidate" depot is getting updated lately, same happened with TLOU, so yeah, likely in the next few days we could see a patch.

Sounds like real dev hell for Perfect Dark. Three years later and still in beginning of the dev cycle  How the fuck do you put out a CG trailer for a game announcement when you haven't even figured out the core game mechanics??? lol.

But yea whatever Xbox didn't show at their showcase is basically 2026 and beyond. Maybe State of Decay 3 could slide into next year but that could also be in some dev hell or they just taking their sweet time.

Their big games next year will be Avowed and Hellblade 2.

2025 will be Fable, South of Midnight and Clockwork Revolution since none of them had dates. Tho Clockwork Revolution showed a lot of gameplay so maybe that can make it some time next year.

They showed a lot but also still have a lot to show next year. Or maybe later this year at TGA.

id
MachineGames
State of Decay 3
Everwild
Perfect Dark
New Halo
New Gears

And their real big next game will be Elder Scrolls 6.

If I am Phil I do everything possible to make ES6 a launch title for the next Xbox console. Give Todd the devkits right away and let them build the console together so that it pushes ES6 to the maximum. And you put it out on launch so it can sell consoles for the entire generation while taking care of the early droughts. They said its 5+ years away so that puts it at around 2028 which is probably when the next console gen starts.

Really interesting podcast if you're as obsessed with every minute detail about the MGS Master collection. Around the 46:00 minute mark, Nitroid (the guy that discovered the mgs4 inactive button from the MGS website) mentions something interesting. I also noticed that MG1 and MG2 used to be bundled in with MGS3 back in the original PS2 release of Subsistence. This time they are bundling it with MGS1. Meaning they are actually touching some of the code at least for MGS3 (since they have to remove the option of accessing mg1 and mg2 from MGS3). So since both games MGS2 and MGS3 come from the same collection, most likely they are native PC ports and not emulation, which is great. Apparently, the fact that MGS1 is going to be the integral version, which could also point to the fact that MGS1 is also a straight port. Hopefully, this is all true.

Also, they mentioned a skateboarding mini-game from MGS2 and a hidden game called "Guy Savage" from MGS3. I had no idea those games were even a thing lol.

Yea the way they are handling this collection is very interesting. Also in the Nintendo Direct trailer you could clearly see the Subsistence camera for the brief Snake Eater gameplay and they are calling it Snake Eater. So I guess that is why they can do that while ripping out all the Subsistence content and injecting some of it into MGS1. All in all the Vol.1 collection is gonna be really special. So many good games hopefully they are legit good ports.

Internal Microsoft email from 2020, not surprised that they wanted to acquire SEGA:

But the only way Sammy would be willing to sell the gaming side of SEGA would be if it was doing really badly, I think.
Given PC is apparently a big focus here, I look forward to Xbox constantly buying studios but their own service never making enough money to justify not releasing on Steam. They have big "lazy rich guy that keeps trying to solve their problems with money" vibes.

I thought about this and realized... MS owned Bungie before, no? So the idea was to buy Bungie again? What is this a trade-in to Gamestop?

Yep.
Though, these MS news are only what they wanted internally a few years ago, I bet that if they did try these acquisitions, the responses from Bungie and Sammy were something like this:

The more I think about them wanting to acquire only the SEGA gaming studios part of SEGA Sammy, the more ridiculous it gets.
I think that Sammy would lose alot long term from such a deal, not only losing a big part of their revenue (SEGA's gaming studios), but also losing SEGA's IPs, and more importantly, the SEGA brand power (this is a big one for them, after all, despite Sammy being the one that acquired SEGA for the merger back in 2004, they chose to have the SEGA name first for the whole company, SEGA Sammy).

You know what, sometimes I feel like Im the only one who don't care about any of this acquisition stuff.

Im just sitting here like

Same. Everything comes to PC now and I'm still playing games from years ago to catch up. With everyone porting to PC these days, even Sony, as long as it isn't Nintendo buying studios I kinda don't care.

The good thing about them getting activision is it makes future publisher buys extremely hard for them. The amount of scrutiny they've had to deal with just to get activision was immense and it will only make their reasoning for future ones lack any kind of substance as they'll likely be the #1 pub in revenue or neck and neck with sony at worst.

I can't even fathom what a sega buy would even do for them these days. They get just about everything from them day 1 now, sometimes on gamepass too. They're even getting persona though I expect 6 will be PS exclusive due to a deal that was probably signed years ago. But future ones after that will likely be day 1 too. Also if they bought them and made their games exclusive you can pretty much kiss those japanese IPs goodbye lol.

Since they added cheevos, I may buy Anno 1800 on Steam. Feels really dumb double dipping a game you never started on Uplay… but that’s the point too. I’m no steam or bust but I truly can’t be bothered to check my libraries outside of steam when I want to play a game.
A good fit for the French idiom ‘Far from the eyes, far from the heart’.
