I do kinda wish that I could buy them a bit more piecemeal like just buying only the first game to try it out as someone that has never played anything in the series and doesn't actually know if I would even like them or not

the bundle with everything already being under 60 bucks on GMG makes me think it'll hit like 40 if I just wait another year or so though and maybe i'll impulse buy it at that point

For me issue is that i won't play all of them one after the other. so getting just 1.5 + 2.5 is enough. but cost wise it is 50% of the entire collection.

Damn, solid discount on Kingdom Hearts. I was hoping for a good enough deal on the full collection but I didn't actually expect one. Not going to play them anytime soon but I'm buying them today.

I bought the KH Integrum Masterpiece collection on Steam but now I'm gonna request a refund so I can get it from GMG instead.

That's actually not a completely insane price from Square for Kingdom Hearts.
It's been so long that I don't really care that much anymore though, so I'll just continue to wait for a higher discount.

These prices are good but they're still more expensive than getting the all in one collection on ps4
Yeah but anyone expecting the Steam release to match the price of a different SKU that came out years ago, on a different platform, and had several deep discounts already, were setting themselves up for disappointment. I mean, come on now lol.
Prince of Persia has Steam achievements. Looks like Ubisoft is slowly embracing it.
There's hope for AC Shadows yet!

Recent debate around Dragon Age: The Veilguard made me think about long awaited sequels and longer and longer dev cycles and how devs are ending up in difficult situations.

During X360/PS3 era we were getting entire trilogies in same time that we are now getting sequels (we got Mass Effect trilogy in 5 years, Uncharted trilogy in 4, Gears of War in 5...). And because of that mechanics and gameplay were similar but that is kinda what people wanted. Trends were not changing that fast either. Also 4-5 years wasn't enough time for entire new generation of players to emerge.

Fast forward to today. It takes 10+ years between between some games in same franchise. And that time is long enough to see entire new generations of players, it is enough time to trends in gaming to change. So developers have big questions to answer, like "Should we keep things as similar as possible to previous entry or change things drastically?", "Should we focus on attracting new players or satisfying old fans?", "What trends to follow or should we follow them at all?", and questions keep popping up.

And things will get kinda worse as dev cycles get longer and production costs higher. So we will probably never see trilogies anymore and even sequels similar to ones we got up until now. And that is kinda sad.

This was supposedly the good one, right?
It's one of the best games I've played this year so far and an S tier metroidvania. Game feels great, has a good sense of exploration and is fairly challenging on the highest difficulty. Took me about ~15 hours doing mostly the critical path with a bit of side exploration. I'll grab the Steam version once all the DLC releases and it's at a reasonable price.

Its easy to blame everything on long dev cycles but at the same time devs/pubs need to respect the fans who made the franchises what they are. Regardless of how long its been since last entry.

EA marketing dept took a gamble on making a Hero Shooter trailer for The Veilguard. They knew what they were doing in trying to make Fortnite and Valorant players drop their GaaS games to pick up this game so they can sell a few extra million copies. It was dumb and it won't work long term because those players don't drop GaaS to play singleplayer games.

So now you risk alienating your hardcore following. On top of that the combat and party mechanics seem limited in Veilguard compared to previous entries. Nothing in the Veilguard footage so far has shown any type of tactical gameplay. And most likely as a result other rpg mechanics will be dumbed down as well. Inquisition already was lacking in many areas.

BioWare would have been better off making some cool Vessel of Hatred like cinematic trailer instead and later did the gameplay reveal. There are so many better ways of handling game reveals for a game like Dragon Age than what they did and immediate damage control following was akward as well. Time and time again it shows that pubs who care more about making $$$ rather than catering to their fans (who actually pay their bills every month) will fall flat on their face.

We just had Baldur's Gate 3 release last year winning all the awards and selling a lot of copies.....Remember how Larian released and marketed their game for months n months with Vlogs, in depth trailers, etc. They did everything to cater to DnD fans. But it seems like everyone refuses to take notes and learn. Instead everyone too busy complaining about the bar being raised and how its impossible for other AAA games replicate a game like that. People still out there trying to say gamers don't like or buy turn based combat games while BG3 sitting at 617k user reviews on steam alone.

This was the last good Prince of Persia ok bye now
Everyone knows this is the good one

Prince of Persia (1989) is among my favourite games of all time. And I would like Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame more if it wasnt way too hard for me ;)
I never dug into the Ubisoft games too much (and never played Prince of Persia 3D, I think? maybe a demo). I dunno, there was something about the first two games that is magical to me and that I dont see in the later games. But Im sure theyre all good games! (as a sidenote, in discussions surrounding Thief (2014), I usually take the opposite stance, having not played the original games and not seeing the difference as a big deal.)

Anyway, as I say everytime the original POP games are discussed, I wish they were on Steam (even if I have them — this collection, to be specific)... Maybe Ubsoft could one day let Digital Eclipse make a collection like Llamasoft, Making of Karateka and Atari 50.

When Bloodborne arrives on Steam you'll be slobbering just like Hector is today ;)

"I was, obviously, not the first person to ask Miyazaki about returning to Bloodborne or making a sequel; just a few months ago he told IGN that FromSoftware doesn't own the IP rights. "Unfortunately, and I’ve said this in other interviews, it’s not in my place to talk about Bloodborne specifically," he answered at the time.

I tried a slightly different approach: making myself the sacrificial lamb. I said I'd get in trouble if I didn't ask this question, then led off by acknowledging that I know FromSoftware doesn't own Bloodborne. But there are millions of PC gamers out there still holding onto hope, I said. Would he—Miyazaki—personally like to see Bloodborne come to PC someday?

This got a laugh from the FromSoftware crew—and a genuine answer.

"I know for a fact these guys want a Bloodborne PC port," Miyazaki said, referring to FromSoftware producer Yasuhiro Kitao and interpreter Bobby Simpson seated at the conference table near him. "If I say I want one, I'll get in trouble as well. But it's nothing I'm opposed to."

I thought that would be the end of the topic, but Miyazaki went on to elaborate on his answer.

"Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I'd love more players to be able to enjoy it. Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardware—I think any game like that, it'd be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past. So as far as I'm concerned, that's definitely not something I'd be opposed to."

Ubisoft Dev acting like their games having achievements is common or expected. :toucan:
It would honestly be pretty funny if they clicked the box to have the store page list achievements but then just not actually implement them.

Also, if all their future releases are going to have them, that's going to awkwardly leave AC Valhalla has the only recent AC without them.
