i'm starting to genuinely wonder if those Suikoden remasters are even releasing this year at this point

that Romancing Saga remake is the first time a Saga remake has looked appealing to me, usually I take one look at the graphical style of them and just kinda zone out and stop caring

I still need to get around to playing Emerald Beyond one of these days though

I sure hope the Romancing Saga 2 remake will approach progression differently. The scaling has ruined the entire franchise since day one for me (and anyone that don't want to follow a guide).
That Emerald Beyond game was apparently terrible too, so it's a bit worrying...

Dragon Quest 3 looks great. And it's coming soonish!
DQ1&2 coming next year too...
What are the chances SE will release FF16 on the same week as DQ3?

isn't Farmagia what the Pope said was rampant in the Vatican?

anyway, this was the third-party highlight of the Direct for me. Fantastic art direction. (curiously, Nintendo's PR describes it as an "adventure-RPG," but there's no sign of RPG elements in the trailer, and the Steam page describes it as a Metroidvania, which seems to be more accurate)

Nice to see a Steam page! Also the highlight for me (since I already knew about the PB sequel, otherwise that would be it).

I should finally play Zelda. So what is the state of emulation these days? Not sure I got the nuked emulator in time. I tried to look into switch emulation before but got so lost on weird files one had to “find”

Damn, just caught up with the Nintendo Direct after getting home from work.
That's a lot of jrpg goodness.
Glad to finally be able to play Fantasian.

Fuck yeah! Having all Ace Attorney games on PC will be great. I love the new chibi graphics they added as well. Really hope this sells enough so that Capcom can finally greenlight new AA games.
Considering that they didn't just remaster all the games but also finally localized both Great Ace Attorney games, and now Investigations 2, there's no way they're not also working on Ace Attorney 7. They wouldn't be giving the series this much love unless they intended to keep it going. They're likely laying the ground work so that when AA7 does launch, its sales potential won't be limited to only the existing fans that played the old games on Nintendo handhelds years ago.

ROMANCING 2 REMAKE ROMANCING 2 REMAKE ROMANCING 2 REMAKE

HOW DOES KAWAZU KEEP DOING IT
Looks great, DQXI level almost, but it sucks they're only doing the 2nd game like this and others got remasters or whatever. Same for only getting DQIII HD-2D.

What? Like, what did you want, realistically? The first game had a remake already, so they remastered it. The second (and third game) initially got remasters as well. These things take time. You can't expect them to remake the entire series all at once. That being said, DQ is getting remakes for I-III, not just III. :p

Ubisoft is slowly getting there. First it's achievements. And now they still won't release on Steam day 1 but they will delist on Steam day 1. :upside-down-face:

Downunder.
That Emerald Beyond game was apparently terrible too
While the Battle Rank system can be harsh, the way it was implemented in Emerald Beyond was probably the most accessible it has ever been. Since EB was designed for repeat playthroughs, on every NG you can choose to either carry over the BR or not. Carrying over BR would mean the enemies will be much tougher, but stat increase and sparking skills will trigger much faster too. Especially when engaging encounters marked "Hard" and above.

The mechanics in EB certainly doesn't hold your hand. There's a lot to chew on, especially if one hates reading the gameplay tips. The RNG can feel a bit lopsided at times too, but it certainly not what I would call "terrible" as you have succinctly put it. The entire SaGa experience is supposed to be hard, but it is also extremely rewarding.

All the tied series games (in this case romancing saga, not all saga, duh) on the same level and style starting from the 1st one and not arbitrarily, not one remake a generation or whatever, might as well say the first few FF games got remakes on NDS or remasters on PS1 so that's all they need if 3 or 4 get an ace current generation remake or something. At least drop the numbers and add a subtitle or something if you don't intend to do them all in original release order.
