I'm done with Ori 2.
I didn't really like the first one because the gameplay was too often a bit crap. Combat was terrible, and the traversal mechanics were obnoxious (especially the slingshot).
Well, the slingshot movement is still here... and still sucks. But at least it's less prevalent, movement is more fluid in general, and the combat is way, way better.
In general it's just a vastly improved experience on all fronts, with noticeably more variety in environments, abilities, and shorter bursts of puzzle and action; which makes for better pacing... but also a much easier game, especially with the removal of the manual checkpoint requiring energy. Now it's all automatic and happens all the time.
It's a great game all around.
Buuuut... only if you can forgive the game chugging when changing zones... and a seriously underwhelming last boss. The game gets better and better, the last level is the right amount of length and challenge without getting frustrating... and then the boss is a pushover. Too bad.
The mountain of side quests is also distracting more than anything. They are not very interesting, it's mostly busy work, and having so much dialogue in Ori is just weird.
Also, it's more than a little bit inspired by Hollow Knight. I don't mind the skill system being dropped in favor of the ability slots (and it's done much better than HK too), but the cute insect fella to find in each level to buy a map from him? Try to make it a bit more flavorful at least... some elements really feel tacked on.
