It's not as silly or challenging as the other games with much worse psychopaths. I mean, I really liked it and so but DR1 and DR2 are so much better IMO. Stay far away from DR4 tho.
and it's just piss easy, no challenge at all. no time pressure - the whole system got ripped out of the game and is really just there as a cosmetic. it has really no connection to the first 2 (2 1/2) games; just the name and theme. other than that its an open world zombie slasher with no challenge.

Wait, Chaosbane is already out? I swear that it's supposed to be out on June 5th.

Well, I can't afford it anyway, not at the current price.

I'm glad to see Steamworld Quest match the current Switch discount. I don't know if I'll pick it up, but I'm tempted now. Why couldn't Void Bastards and SWQ come out weeks apart?

It's there a dedicated (good) old PC games thread? Been filling out my wishlist on GOG with heavy hitters, but old PC games are generally a bit of a blind spot of mine as I was primarily a console kid. Could use some recommendations!

If there isn't a topic, you can always make one. ;)

A while back, I posted some recommendations for old school RPGs that are currently only available on GOG, hopefully it will help you find a few more games to play:

Void Bastards is really good fun...

And im really shit at it. Im still trying to get the first couple of things it tells you to. Ive died like 4-5 times by being greedy and not escaping a ship when I should. Game has me hooked though. Lovely style.

If you like RPGs at all, make sure Fallout 2 is on your list. Mechanically it still holds up and remains my GOAT.

Depends on what you like to play.
If you like open world you can always try Gothic 1 & 2.
You can try UFO enemy unknown to experience the game the XCOM is based.
You can pick any Lukasart adventure to have hours of fun, I suggest Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis apart from the Monkey island ones.
If you want some early hardcore D&D action there is the Eye of the Beholder series for your consideration.

Thanks for those. Added a few to the list. Al-Qadim looks good but unfortunately isn't part of the sale D:
I'm really into the aesthetic of those old 2D RPGs. The early 3D ones are so hard to look at though!

Thanks. Yeah, I heard all sorts of good things. Should I play the first game in the series before tackling 2 or are they standalone?

Adventure games and RPGs mainly. Gothic 2's on the list already. Figured I'd skip 1 and get to the supposedly more refined one immediately.

Played through Thimbleweed Park a while ago and I really liked how it all your verbs on screen, so I've added a bunch of games that have the same interface. I've actually got Fate of Atlantis in my basket right now. I bet that could be fun to go through together with my partner. Having it all there on screen is pretty easy to grasp.

If you suggestions can just go through my wishlist/gog library and make a post later but it's mostly things that I like. I mean they're GOOD games but yeah.

If adventure games are your jam, I think the obvious answer is Day of the Tentacles / Sam & Max / Monkey Island / Gabriel Knight 1
I mean these fuckers are four, but it's still the unsurpassed holy trinity.

Thanks. Happen to have Day of the Tentacle already. Probably from some giveaway or bundle.
Do you have any opinion on whether I should go for the OG version of Gabriel Knight 1 or the 20th anniversary remaster? Was personally leaning toward playing the original The remaster's graphics are a little too "clean" if you get what I mean.

Yeah, I don't like the remaster graphics either, lose a large chunk of its charm, and I seem to recall some bad reviews at the time it released. Bugs or something.

Slave Zero is a pretty good third-person shooter with giant mechs. It's currently on sale on GOG as well!

They're very standalone. The 1st one has an invisible countdown timer (which I think is easily removed nowadays) but I only replayed it like once. FO2 was a lot more expansive and deep, to me, and had a lot of interesting characters and areas and choices.

I liked Druidstone at first, but found it too boring to complete. The lack of character progression other than the cards and the detachment of the story from the mission design has me looking elsewhere when deciding what to play, when usually I'm the type of person to play a game through to completion before starting something else. Also most of the humor falling flat didn't help.

In my opinion, a bit easier game is not a bad thing. Lots of the psychos in DR1 and DR2 had a habit of stunlocking you or dealing unproportionally high damage to you while stopping to heal themselves all the time (looking at you, Chef What's-His-Name from DR2)

How much are y'all expecting to spend on the summer sale?

I'm thinking about $100. Going to get Gal*Gun 2, Castlevania Collection, Resident Evil 7, and a few Indie horror games. Also a few levels of the summer sale badge and some game specific badges.
GalGun 2 is currently on sale at GMG.

I load my Steam account with $100 every month because I just never know.

I only buy games at about 50% off though.

TBQH, there's nothing that I must have on my wishlist currently. Not any games that are actually out, anyway.

I try to always have around $100 set aside for myself but I'm not sure what I'm going to target it'll depend on prices. Thanks to EGS and their stupid 1 month sale it seems like Outward won't dip below 20-25% so I probably won't get that. Guess I'll wait and see what goes on sale.
