Oh yeah baby~

Sonic marathon continues, done with 1, time for 2 and then 3 (from Sega Mega Drive classics).
Sonic 1 is an interesting game to me; it has that 80s platformer feel to it. THey wanted to emphasis and showcase the speed, but kept some traditional platforming ideas in. The first 3 Sonic MD/Gensis games are great in their own way and 1 doesn't deserve the negative rap just because 2 and 3 improved on aspects of it.
Sonic 2 is great and one of my fav. 16 bit games for that era, and just to clear something up regarding 3, the game is split into 2 parts:
Sonic 3, and Sonic & Knuckles. On Steam you ought to be able to play them either separately, or linked together to play through the full 12 or so stages fo the games combined.

Keep in mind that the ROM files for the SEGA MD collection will work with ANY emulator so if you don't like the default collection's emulator, just use one from Retroarch at least.

Hope you enjoy them though! Sonic 3(&K) is IMO the best 2D 16 bit platformer of the early 90s era.
Huh
Risk of Rain 2 has been among the Steam Top Sellers for over a month now

Forager released around Mid April, and even after 2 weeks it's been among the top sellers as well

It'd be nice to have some figures on # of copies each has sold so far.

BTW I dunno why that first game is listed twice, maybe because there are 2 regional versions of it?

Well better late than never! And at least they are trying. Unlocked FPS and support for multiple controller icons without the need for an external mod are features that PC Gamers do tend to enjoy. (y)
yep exactly and from the console reviews the game itself is pretty great ... only the FDG's treating of steam versions is dreadfull

"No, really. What does this mean for Rocket League?"
In the short term, nothing will change at all! We’re still committed to providing Rocket League with frequent updates that have new features, new content, and new ways to play the game for as long as you’ll have us.

In the long-term, we expect to bring Rocket League to the Epic Games store and to leverage our new relationship to grow the game in ways we couldn’t do on our own before. We believe that bringing Rocket League to new audiences with more support is a win for everybody.
Which new audience? The Fortnite audience?

nearly 10K where playing forager the other day right seems insane for a no name indie in 2019, I honestly thought with all the EGS announcements most of the developers would scurry like rats to the epic store but that doesn't some like that's the case anymore or maybe its still coming.

Also after bragging about the amount of steam users, I asked how many users the epic store version had and the anno guy said this

And supposedly the satisfactory developer said it only sold 9 copies, But I can't tell if the developer is serious since the developer seems like an asshole.

I, uh, played a lot of Anima today. :sweaty-blob:
I blame the shitty weather.

Got the "Worst" Ending now. Now to defeat the last of the 5 main bosses in the tower and continue on to the other 2 endings.
...Tomorrow though.

Suffice to say I'm enjoying the game a lot. Also it was made by 3 people according to the credits 😲
I'll definitely have to get the sequel in the summer seal (It's not on sale right now :/).

Which new audience? The Fortnite audience?
A few things
1- you bring up a good point; anyone who wanted rocket league on oc would get it on steam and it has been a top seller on there during sales. So you already have an audience

2- do forknife players even WANT their forknife streaming and play time taken over by rocket league?
Heck what if there sre various forknife players thst already own rocket league? They gonna get it free thru egs or some shit?

I've played my share of RL and never was good at it. I enjoyed it and was hooked around Christmas of 2017 or 18, I can't remember. If I'm correct, RL was cross-platform, right? Will Epic be able to do that?

Sounds like they are disbanding the Steam version
Does Rocket League use Steam's multiplayer stuff? Because then it seems like there's 0 chance of crossplay once it goes to Epic, which seems insane. The Rocket League devs have almost always had the goodwill of their players for their surprisingly popular, originally niche game, and this just seems like suicide considering they already were making their bank off MTX instead of the game itself.

Edit: ^ yea RL has cross platform support in general, but I don't believe Epic has shown any support for such a thing have they?

What in the heck do they mean "more support?" They realize EGS has LESS features than Steam not more... right? Smh.

Let's be real, what will Epic even want Psyonix to do?
  • Keep supporting RL? It's extremely doubtful that whoever still plays it will ditch their current platform for EGS. The truth is most people already had their fill and moved on.
  • Do something new? Their record isn't very impressive and although it's true they had a massive success with RL I find it doubtful that they will catch the lightning in a bottle a second time.
  • What would that hypothetical game even be? Another racing hybrid or some other genre their unfamiliar with? Multi or single player? Unless I'm mistaken all their previous work were multiplayer games and I don't see them captivating the FN audience with a payed mp option...

Seems like a waste of money from Epic, which is something I won't lose sleep over tbqh.

Honestly, didn't expect Epic go to make a move this big right now. Wouldn't be surprised if Tim :smiling-face-with-heart-shaped-eyes: go for Dead by Daylight devs after Psyonix.

in that case, you might want to check this one out as well:

and this one:

;)
Ah the two Talisman games that I already have.

But yes. Those are fine games in their own way but I'm excited for one that is more single player focused. While you can play the others 1P only, it all acts like the CPUs are real people in terms of time they get taking moves and zooming the camera, etc. A single player only game night do things a bit different and be more fun as a result! Or not! I don't know!

What shitty news, I bet they'll even not update the Steam version past that point (rather than simply have it unavailable for new buyers but continue updates). How long will it take for the active devs to start disbanding to do their own thing as indies once again I wonder. Or maybe they just didn't have a clue what to do next after that runaway success, it's been like 4 years (if we don't count their biggest game before RL being basically proto-RL) after all, so they sold out.
