Opinion - It seems I'm not the only one who enjoys playing Survivor-like games on the SteamDeck!
SteamDeck Top Played Games Is amazing there's 4 survivor-like games in the top20. Besides these, I also like Darkchaser:Battletide and NovaDrift, both of them have build and are quite fun. By the way, I'd like to rant about Brotato: new DLC hurry up !!

Sony owns Psygnosis a company that before they were acquired and eventually shut down had a big computer gaming heritage. Anything from back then will probably never see the light again unless Sony can find a way to make a 3rd person over the shoulder adventure/RPG lite(or perhaps a terrible live service) game out of them. The catalogue is one of the big holes of classic PC games still not available on GOG at this point.
Lemmings for example should be owned by someone like Team 17 so we could at least have had re-releases, dozen and dozens of so-so spinoffs and the occasional good ones just like Worms.

After playing Ragnarok and finishing the Valhalla DLC today, I want this so bad lol. I'd love to replay the trilogy and I never got around to playing Ascension (and the second PSP game, I think). I would love to have the entire series on PC.

Assassin's Creed games are on sale and since Ubi finally decided to get their head out of their ass and add achievements to Valhalla, I bought it along with Odyssey. Funny how that works.
I don't expect them to go back and add them for every game but I really hope the days of having to wonder for every single release are over. It's not that
complicated: if you release a game on Steam, then support basic Steam features.
I'm tempted to replay Origins before getting into them but these games are so fucking long now. Maybe I'll just watch a story recap on youtube or something.

Kind of funny that RDR2 and GTA5 were both cheap at launch for me...cheaper than RDR1.

Yeah even for me Metaphor was completely off my radar. If I hadn't had 100 hours in Persona 5 as we speak, I would have been day one on Metaphor. Think I need to wait a year or something lol
I have over 1500 hours worth of unplayed RPGs on my backlog, don't need another 100 hour game.
I get expecting it not to be a big hit, but Soul Hackers 2 had little marketing and a very small budget, and it came from the team that made tokyo mirage (which I don't think was a big seller).

I was extremely surprised by that. It's not mainstream obviously, but the overall "vibe" in the gaming sphere from my perspective was that it's an event on an entirely different scale of hype compared to Soul Hackers 2. In general (and to my continued surprise, since I just don't think the fundamentals of their games are that good compared to other JRPGs), the Persona team at Atlus seems to have more of a grasp on how to make JRPGs that people want to buy -- especially on Steam -- than anyone else. And while it's not Persona, for me Metaphor is to that a bit like e.g. a Sekiro or a Bloodborne is to Dark Souls.
Of course it's too early for me to go all "I told you so", since I expected at least 50k CCU peak. If they don't reach it I'll just blame the technical quality putting a damper on the reception of the game

I just did a bit of SteamDB browsing -- is Persona 3 Reload really the second highest peak CCU JRPG on Steam (at 45k, behind Arise at 60k)?

I completely forgot about that (I also haven't played it). I guess the original ranking could still be valid if it's limited to games without online multiplayer.
Good. They spent their entire marketing cycle informing us of all the features they've removed.
It's like FIFA where each year they just release the same game. You'll notice on my profile they used to be my most played games each year then fell off a cliff.
As someone who has played GBF: Relink it's more monhun-like than JRPG so I wouldn't count it.
You forgot about Infinite Wealth that slightly beat P3R by like 1k.
I believe the order is Arise > IW > P3R.
I found that I underestimated a lot of things this year (Palworld, Helldivers, Wukong, Space Marines) and since Steam is growing. I ended up predicting Metaphor and Sparking Zero to take the top spots for JRPGs and the DB Franchise.
Happy that Sparking Zero is doing big numbers and broke the 100k mark, it's Dragon Ball Z fanservice to the max. It looks like Metaphor might overtake P3R and IW soon. Lets see how the weekend goes.
Then there's games like Monster Hunter World (334k), Monster Hunter Rise (231k) and Dragon's Dogma 2 (228k), though it's questionable if they even count as JRPGs, with how broad the term JRPG is.
I really wouldn't count any of those as JRPGs for the purpose of looking at this market segment.
I mean, if you count Dragon's Dogma 2 then you basically have to count Elden Ring, and then the discussion is just over.
