Probably still going to be better than Stadia

Luna will cost $5.99 -- at least -- in early access. That price unlocks access to Luna+, the baseline channel that will feature a mix of games, including Resident Evil 7, Control, Tacoma, Rez Infinite, Metro Exodus, The Sexy Brutale, Overcooked! 2 and others. Not all of the titles listed up there will be available on day one, but they’re all on the early access docket.

Luna will have more channels with curated content, each available at an additional, as-yet-unknown cost. The first confirmed channel comes from Ubisoft, and will include a broad selection of games from the publisher’s catalog, plus same-day releases of upcoming titles including Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Immortals Fenyx Rising.

Amazon is aiming to have about 100 games available during the early beta period, spread between Luna+ and the Ubisoft channel.
The channeled approach to game streaming was borrowed from Amazon’s Prime Video experience, which offers certain stations as paid additions. That said, Luna will evolve as early access carries on and the feedback rolls in.

“You may even see other types of channels like a genre-based channel,” said Marc Whitten, Amazon’s head of Luna. “Or other ways to think about specific pieces of content that might be very attractive to a certain set of customers.”

Amazon specifies that $5.99 a month is the price of a Luna+ subscription during early access, so this base price is likely to change with the launch of Luna 1.0.

I can say that the Steam Controller is the worst controller I have tried to use, definitely not for me, good thing I didn’t pay much for it, also will still be useful if my future xsx controller and my dualshock4 break i guess...

Amazon Luna is probably part of why MS bought Zenimax, Amazon could have snapped them up and made future Zenimax and Bethsoft games exclusive for Luna.

So for all we know, the reason we get to play future Bethsoft and Zenimax games on PC/Steam is because MS bought them.

It certainly takes getting used to, I use my xbox one controller usually but I do love the steam controller and once I'm used to it it really feels great. Played Resident Evil 7 and Prey with it, good times.

If Bezos really wants he can probably buy out every single publisher in the games industry and his wallet will barely notice it.
If the dark one, with black river of goods and services, subsumed one or two major publishers (a la, Beth-ZenMax) than I'm out. Bezosbulb has designs to remake the world of commerce flow only through his dark river of goods and services for his peasants (us) Supported on the bare feet and backs of his servants (workers) of course. I don't do any business if I can with The Dark One.

Focus Home are assholes. I bought SnowRunner + Season Pass because i LOVE this type of games.
They have not even released all the content from the season pass and they have already released a car pack dlc that's not covered by the season pass. I will NEVER buy anything from Focus Home Interactive again.

Guess waiting for the Steam version will pay off. All DLC + a discount I assume.

I only now realised that Nier, Nier Replicant, Nier Gestalt and Nier whatever this one is called are all the same, kinda? How very confusing and typical of Square...

The first NieR game was released in japan in two versions as NieR Gestalt and NieR Replicant.
Same thing as Pokemon Red and Blue.
They only brought one of the versions to the west (NieR Gestalt) and simply sold it as NieR.
Now they are remaking NieR based on the Replicant version instead.

Yes, that is not at all confusing 😅

paying for the subscription and not the games is probably the way to go for streaming in the future. makes much more sense to do that so i'm glad amazon at least went that direction.

dunno how it plays of course but if its anything like parsec on aws it'll feel pretty solid. definitely cool to see more work done in this space, even if i won't use these services myself.

I don't know about other countries, but right now I cannot see any game streaming service take off in the US due to bandwidth caps. Luna takes 10GB/hour bandwidth and I only have a 1TB/month allowance before I have to pay overage fees. It's already annoying enough having to essentially ration my bandwidth for PC and console games.

I don't believe Luna gives you access to a full Windows install, allows you to manage your files and all that? Which is what I want out of virtualized hardware. Keeping it limited to games is hugely limiting.

It still boggles my mind that Shadow are still the only ones to offer that at this time.

probably cause if someone wants a full vm they can just rent a full vm lol. it's very simple to do.

Can you be a little less flippant? Especially when you miss the point of what I was saying.

Building a VM on, say, Amazon isn't that easy and is charged by the hour/bandwidth. There's a reason Shadow is the only one to do what it does on a monthly basis.

tbh that sounds more like Saber being Saber , rather than Focus

Wouldn't even mind the colour of Luna, this is an xbox controller I made in with design lab for fun.

Luna controller though has something I don't like it and I cannot figure out what.

please don't tell me how to post, thanks. i don't do that to you.

anyway it's actually quite easy to set up a vm and run parsec on it with either aws or azure to do exactly what you want. if someone wanted to do it they can really do it with a small google search and find guides to do it. should be simple enough for someone that knows enough that they know they need a virtual machine.

There's a reason Shadow is the only one to do what it does on a monthly basis.
what's the reason?

I'm telling you not to be flippant at me for no reason, that's not the same as telling you what to say. If I insult you, you'll rightfully take offense. I only ask for courtesy :).

My point was that of cost : I think Durante came up with a ballpark figure of something like 40+€ for 20 hours' usage of a good AWS configuration. That's twice what I pay to use my Shadow VM at will for a month without any such hourly consideration.

where was the insult?

the mistake there with cost is probably going with aws in the first place. azure is cheaper and has better gpus available. i was rocking about $20 a month for usage of an azure vm and parsec to play fighting games with remote friends.

either way expecting a mainstream and also dirt cheap vm solution that does all the setup work for you but also lets you manage the backend yourself is not something that's going to happen.

I said flippant, not insult. You said :

Which completely dismissed the existence of the problem while throwing in a mocking "lol" and "very simple to do" in a condescending way.

I don't want to make a big deal out of it but it was an unpleasant and unnecessary way to reply. Not to get on your case but it's not the best and I'm not really in the mood for that.

it is literally a three step process. sorry for pointing that out.

buy server space
go to server - run windows update, install nvidia driver
install parsec & games

sorry you are in a bad mood but you don't have to take it out on me for perceived slights that don't exist. the people who want full access to vm backends are usually just the kind of people who just rent a vm. i don't feel that's too much to point out.

In your opinion. That doesn't make your abrasiveness any less factual to others. But nice attempt at gaslighting, that's about enough of that for me.

eh whatever. you are a niche consumer inside of a niche. what you want won't happen from a major company. no reason to get upset at me for pointing that out.

btw i was right. you wanted a full vm so you just rented a vm.

also this is why shadow is the only one to offer this service

they can't guarantee service in the light blue states, which is a decent amount of people to cut out. ms and aws already have to infrastructure to serve all 50 states and 91 other countries. building your own infrastructure is hard.

Anyone playing Vampire the Masquerade: Night Road?

Seeing reports that the game is missing content after chapter 4, and that it's stuck in demo mode
Can't say personally, I've only just gotten to chapter 4

I play pretty much every game from the company making Night Road and also their third-party label (and also WIP games on the forum), and from the demo I'd consider this one average at best. They have much better titles in their catalogue.
