I get not liking the game's art direction (even though I think it's ok) but many reactions I saw were things like "Why could you play it if Animal Crossing is a thing?"or "This is the worst art I've ever seem" really exaggerating the issues the game may or may not have.I think many (me, at least) are negative with Hokko Life because it looks awful, uninspired, even creepy AF at times. Basically, it looks like a generic mobile rip-off.
People aren't generally against clones per se.
When a clone is done with a little bit of quality and personality, people will respond well. See the success of Temtem for example!
I'm a terrible Zoo keeper. I don't know the size of the animals so I am giving a football stadium to animals that would be okay with a basketball court. And sometimes guest complain about not being able to see the animals.
I like the way that the game progress and how you do unlock stuff as things go on, but there are a few things that I do wish you would get more early on, since they would help me out a lot.

Grandpa Doom seems to like Animal Crossing and FFVIIR but not it's own grand child, aka Half Life.

I found the same deal (9,55€ here if you grabbed Regions of Ruins), but I'm kind of afraid of these reviews... Some recent reviews talk about an abandoned and unfinished game released in 1.0 to get rid of it.

This is kinda interesting. Meeple Station has been on my Wishlist forever as it kinda looked like RimWorld in space. Not as deep of course, but in the same universe at least. Maybe closer to Gnomoria.
Well I got an email saying it went 1.0 and got a nice -25% launch discount. Cool.
Went to the Steam page and they also had a discounted dev bundle that coupled Regions Of Ruin & Meeple Station @ -68%. Well guess what game was being given away for free less than a week ago? That would be one Regions Of Ruin.
So on launch day I was able to nab Meeple (reg. $19.99) for $7.49! Yowzers.
Early 1.0 reviews look Mixed, but I don't mind as the premise and EA vids I saw always looked great.

This video right here says the truth, Alyx might not be the most realistic game in terms of physics but simplicity made it fun and accessible and that's what matters the most for me, it's a game that even with it's limitations like no melee combat set the bar to the VR scene.
No worries cause' we will get there to the point in which melee combat doesn't suck, but as for right now, Alyx is THE VR GAME (also my goty 2020 lol)

Finally some new games for me. It's been a while since I bought anything on Steam, but the last paycheck was pretty good for all those hours I worked. Plus we got a small raise thanks to Corona-chan.

Ah yes it's in the licenses also. I just have to get the upgrade thing to get everything from HM1 since I didn't have the GOTY edition but the Full Experience.
you can change physical buttons, swap them between a more classic 4 direction cross or a joystick, also the back buttons add two new paddles as 2 new buttons, of course it's all customizable.

Ok I don't even know where to begin with this. I stumble into a new area that has a cult in it who recruits you (you can be suspicious of them but can't refuse) and the leader (moustache guy) later on susses you out as not being a believer, but in the same sentence asks you to replace him as leader of the cult. Why???
Also, through this section you have to recruit people to the cult. These actions net you good moral points as does choosing to be the new leader. Again, why????

General thoughts, the best way I can describe this game is like a mix of a Japanese Slice of Life drama that just happens to be set during an earthquake (as you see so many different locales and meet and help lots of different people throughout the game), and a light exploration/adventure game.
A lot of the moment to moment gameplay is really focused on exploring the latest area you find yourself in, stumbling across a story in the area and progressing it inexplicably to the next location. It's like a collection of vignettes with different clusters of people as you the main character bumble along.
It's weird but surprisingly endearing.
Some of the more mechanical stuff has to be mentioned though. The survival mechanics (thirst, hunger etc) are so superfluous, I've had to eat and drink like twice in 8 hours of playtime so far. Plus the game has an extensive set of dialogue options for most conversations ranging from goody two shoes to utter bastard, but beyond a good/bad point score in the menu it doesn't seem to affect anything? I'm still sticking with good choices cos there are apparently multiple endings.
Biggest issue easily though that must be said, in situations where it isn't clear what you're supposed to be doing and/or where to go it is almost reminiscent of old PnC games where you just have to interact with absolutely bloody everything around you until something happens.

I just bought it on a whim, it's basically a proof of concept at this point with most of the gameplay in place but it's only 15-20 minutes long. Would be nice if it turned out alright because it's certainly interesting.Here's a new one: an adventure/RPG (done with RPGMaker?) with... pinball mechanics for its battle system?!

The Steam Controller is my favorite controller. It's only not ideal when you really need a proper D-pad.
Uh yeah, now that you mention it, it would resolve the fighting games issue. If the D-Pad is good.

Im not gonna be suprised if VII Remake releases before it's been 1 year on PC. I won't have a problem waiting 1 year, but Square and Sony can be odd often in regards to PC releases.

Yeah, agreed. Personally, I'd probably prefer to switch the left touchpad for a d-pad, but that's mostly because I already have 2 Steam controllers for when I need 2 touchpads
.I only really benefit from the right touchpad in the vast majority of games, (But that one is a huge benefit over a stick)
Love the 4 back buttons on the new images.
I also realized that, while I was initially disappointed, I'm now actually not sure if it isn't a good thing that the new consoles don't feature back buttons by default. This way, with the Steam controller (both old and new), you actually get extra buttons to bind for new, combined, or replicated functionality rather than the games "needing" them.
It's possible, however, I think that covers ALL platforms in general and Square might want to wait a bit until next consoles are in the market due to a second wave of re-releases.
Patience, this year is a bit special due to the pandemic, somethings that should happen might get delayed due to the circumstances wink wink.
How's No Man's Sky these days? I was never really interested in it until about a year ago when I heard stories of exploration and finding weird eggs and stuff. I'm not much of a builder/crafter so how big of an aspect is that? Is planet variety any better than it used to be around launch? Can you find cool shit by just roaming around? What is No Man's Sky? XD

KH collection should have been announced for the PC/Switch by now, however it hasn't due to the circumstances and god knows when it will be announced, KH3 tho, don't know, so just continue playing just in case.

Well, they keep throwing to our face the fact that the game is one year exclusive. It's weird, not even EGSclusive did this, they'll just stay silent until 1-2 month before exclusivity period is over.
Opus Magnum is easier than other Zachtronics game, and I appreciate this.
What a patch. Should really start playing it. It's just sitting there in my installed Steam library.

Took like 40 hours, but I finally beat Kakarot. It was really good, just a little too long. Also just started FF7, which is amazing. Going to try and fit some X-Com 2 in while I play that.
What's funny is that the touchpad is actually amazing for fighting games. Just have it set to a no click d-pad and it's legit. I just need a better set of face buttons (larger... and more).
lol In DoS2 I just accidentally killed off Fane by teleporting him into poison without realizing that he had the decaying debuff on him.
