There was a hot minute in my life where I thought "Oh, I like Anime", because I had found and liked - a lot - the works of Hayao Miyazaki, Mamoru Oshii, Katsuhiro Ôtomo, the Yoshitoshi Abe classics (I know I share that appreciation with at least one active member of this forum, right Texhnolyze ?), a few other standout classics such as Grave of the Fireflies or really unique OVAs like FLCL - and then I made an account on anidb.net and found out what people who really like A n i m e were also watching and realized I'm still a universe away from weebdom. The rate at which this kind of quality Anime come out is about the same as with Hollywood cinema, it's a measly few shows and films each decade.

With games it's even worse for me, I have some serious beef with most Japanese game-design and the list of Japanese games I completely enjoy is so small, it makes me look racist.

Isn't anime just animation from Japan. What you are talking about is just animated shows.

I stay away from anime series but you are seriously missing out on some amazing movies.

Maybe, but you can say that about almost any kind of genre. I watched anime series and movies because I had friends who loved the stuff, and as I said, the more I was exposed to it, the more I disliked it. The same happened with rap music, btw. People kept wanting to show me rap thats "really good I promise" but I just dont like that genre of music (but as always, exceptions exist). On the contrary, it make me like rap less and less.

Since I dont like the genre, I genuinly prefer doing other things than seeking out examples of the genre just to check if I maybe like that one. And as I said, the more I see (also, the stuff people post here usually, thats 99% of the time just to me), the less I like it. So, no, I've not seen those western anime things, but given I dont like the general art style, if those things are anime, Western or not, I can almost guarantee I wont like these things either. If they're on Netflix, I could check however.

BTW I was just thinking of a good example. One of my favourite artists recently switched to way more anime-inspired stuff and I really like it less now, its a shame. But she's having fun with it, so thats fine by me. I dont have to like everything.

Sure, well the style would be manga, but that also I would say is specifically Japanese comics. Sure others can do the style but when someone talks about a manga or anime I would assume it's from Japan.

It is surprising that the banker discloses his trick, I mean the fact that it is so effective (for you, as well as everyone else). If you can extract a small fee from every purchase / card transaction, you get as rich as a banker. If the fee is small enough that most people would not notice, bingo.

That's Oure for me ever since it came out. The only discount it ever got was 10% off at its Steam launch and tbh, it looks like a 50%-0r-more-discount-mandatory kind of game ... I just like games where you can fly around a lot, that's why I'm watching it.

With hardcore fans of specific subgenres and surff , especially the most vocal ones bein elitist/toxic/gatekeepy/or just anyother way annoying and on other hand the mainstream taste is the most accessible and simplest thing possible?

Like dumb action flicks in movies, shounens in anime, pop in music, BR in games , ...... this is not really specific for anime imo

Yeah, it's been on sale quite a few times (the game, the game + DLC pack, the game + OST pack, ...).
I know, because I've been tempted quite a few times to use the "complete the bundle" option to get the rest of the Annapurna Interactive games, and Ashen is the one always keeping the price a tad too high (because it's the more expensive game), and I'm not particularly interested in it (not a big fan of the genre).

That happens with most EGS exclusives for me, tbh. And it's not even on purpose. The ones I was genuinely excited about like Control, Metro or Satisfactory, I never forgot about. But most indies or AA kinda games I'll usually either forget they even came out or forget about them entirely. Almost like launching exclusively on that store has a way of making a game fade into obscurity or something. Weird...

Might have to do with the fact that it was originally being developed as a MMO title called Torchlight Frontiers and they shifted development & rebranded it as Torchlight 3 after the alpha builds of Frontier were released. Most people see it as a boring MMO turned in a linear simplistic ARPG. I loved the first two games, played them multiple times. However, they way T3 has been presented publicly, especially the gameplay trailers, personally made me lose all interest in the game.

Suddenly has the urge to replay GTA4 again (finished it twice back on Xbox360) so I has just installed it. I know the PC port is known to be bad so there are drops in framerate sometimes, but it runs mostly butterly-smooth without pop-ins. Framerate and pop-ins back on console is seriously bad so god it feels great to play now. I still regard it being the second best game that Rockstar has ever made, whereas Bully is the undisputable king (in my heart anyway).

I really liked RDR2. Its a huge story driven open world. Beautiful to run around in. Pretty good characters. I would say its worth 36 Euros. You can spend a ton of hours exploring the world or you can mainline the story which is pretty long.

RDR 2 doesn't clutter the world map with pointless collectibles, but resource gathering in the form of hunting wild animals is a mayor part of the side content. It's different from FC or AC though, as those hunts are something you need to practice and prepare for. Going out and shooting at things randomly won't give you reliable results.
Equipment doesn't have stats or levels like in FC or AC, but you must keep an eye on durability, clean weapons, adjust to weather (e.g. warm clothes for cold regions), eat, bath, take care of your horse etc.

It's a well-done open world Story driven game, with beautiful, well-crafted scenes. The game wants to be taken seriously and evoke realism, but by doing so it drowns the player in time sinks and tasks that become tedious. It's a long game.

It's well worth 36€ and in many ways it's the anti Far Cry, which is fast, stupid, constantly throws action and progression at you.

Gamified = collectiing pointless stuff, pointless stats, levels, constant action, etc. in a game that do not need that.

RDR2 being antiFarCry pretty much fits perfectly .... even the mission design , FarCry allows you pretty much wide array of ways to aproach the mission, RDR2 from what i played only allows the single superscripted way to the point that you sometimes has to run around a bit to find where the cutscene trigger starts (i remember one mission where i was supposed to snad behind the rock and wait , but in the end spent half an hour running around all the rocks there to find the right place begind right rock)
