$5 million + $15 million for attorneys fees
I would not have imagined that attorney fees would be 3 times the amount of the penalty. :moneyrat: :lul: Better not to lose such a trial.

I thought it was over 2 million that they sold? Also since it says defendant. I'm going to assume that these are official numbers from Valve. Not bad for manufacturing your first device. The Steam Links were also manufactured by Valve but I don't think as much "design"/ cost was associated with them and that's why Valve made that one Steam controller video and not a "watch how the Steam Link is made".

I wonder who will win. Valve already lost to the Australian government although they only had to pay a small fee at that time I think.

There is also that legal battle that they are having with that one native tribe about gambling (which I'm a little confused on). Yeah reservations have their own rules and don't have to follow everything that the US government says on reservation territory, which would include having a casino (that's why outside of Vegas and Atlantic City, Casinos are illegal in the US. Even having something like a slot machine in your house could technically get you in trouble.) But do loot boxes keep people from going to those casinos. Since that seems to be what this is about? What if that ruling just made it so that loot boxes( in washington at least) are illegal and you can't sell them there.

There's, like, 0.0001% chance Valve doesn't lose this, sadly.
Am I to understand that all other controller manufacturers have licensed this patent (or however it’s called to get permission to use patented designs) to make controllers with back buttons? Pretty wild if so.

Curator stats. I wonder what happened here. Got featured somewhere? Bizarre. Normally I'm comfortably in the might-as-well-not-exist zone :blobmorning2:

Also, I noticed a bunch of emails about curator connect offers were flagged as promotions in my inbox so I never saw :ripblob:

As someone who played (and enjoyed) a whole lot of "eurojank indie" games over the years/decades, and also played (and enjoyed) Cyberpunk, I can say with full confidence that this is simply factually wrong.
At least on PC which should be what we are talking about here.
Yeah I took issue with that statement too. Its faaar from "cheap Eurojank".
The game has problems (even on PC, I get a lot of glitches), but its nothing that cant be fixed and will be fixed surely. Night City is one of the most ambitious, most detailed worlds Ive seen a game set in. It needs more time, and whilst it will need & get fixing, the torrent of mockery it gets is still unwarranted. Jim Sterling put it on his worst games list without having played it (admitting so in the same video).... I mean, c'mon. There is something inbetween "GOAT/KING/QUEEN" and "WORST EVER!!!" (to paraphase weird internet speech).

And regarding IronSparksters remarks on blame; the CDPR video they put out recently has their CEO saying, and I quote

"I, and the entire leadership team, are deeply sorry for this and this video is me publicly owning up to that. Please dont fault any of our teams for what happened. They are all incredibly talented and hard working. Myself and the board are the final decision makers and it was our call to release the game."

(source: )

so its not the case whatsoever that they put any blame on their devs.

Completely agreed regarding the hyperbole. Still, there is something to be said for the later part of the message where he states that they did not see the issues people were experiencing at release, which to me feels very dishonest. He is implicitly throwing his QA team under the bus there in my opinion, and that feels way too close to passing the buck to the most neglected class of the gaming industry.

True, he does say the missed the issues (although he didnt specify QA). Maybe the management team didnt look close enough? Or didnt want to see the issues? Honestly wondering at this point.

Soon:

It has been developed by the LeCun brothers, so highly privileged young men with highly educated family all over the top job positions at Facebook and Google. Not your average indie devs. The game can still be good.

I have to say that there have been too many devs saying they were aware of the issues for me to give him the benefit of the doubt. You usually have a pretty good idea of the state the build is in and given that issues appeared on consoles, not the jungle of hardware possibilities that is the PC, I have a hard time believing that the biggest issue, performance, wasn't painfully obvious to them.

Maybe I'm missing an optic here, I don't know, but you may remember that even us, in these threads, could tell that the game was coming incredibly hot out of the oven, especially for consoles. Either way, I hope they'll fix it soon.

Honestly nothing about CP2077 felt cheap to me in my playtime. Like not once while playing do I think the devs needed more money.

Time, sure. There are definitely aspects of the game you can tell needed more time. Call the game undercooked but the quality of the meat they used is still the highest I ever tasted among AAA games. I think If you convert the game and work budget to California/NY/US dollars its probably the most expensive video game ever made. They had all the money in the world if anything but were pressed for time. So bad management, people not on same page, corporate bs etc.

You can tell playing certain games where stuff is slapped together as the devs run out of resources etc. There is a big difference so I wouldn't use the word cheap for Cyberpunk. These crazy dudes even modeled the inside of the small cars with some retro cardboard futuristic shit lol. I would be asking for pay raise if I was writer, designer and artist at CDPR because they all overachieved big time. Sadly everyone right now over there is probably crunching like crazy and nobody is getting any bonuses for a while.

The worst thing of all is they are gonna waste so much time fixing the game on PS4/X1 when in 6 months nobody will give a shit about the old consoles anymore. They will be so badly outdated and everyone in the industry moves on to PS5/XsX. They really should have canned those versions and saved themselves the embarrassment.

Management can disregard whatever stuff QA point out and release a game because they want to and can. I'd say CDPR management were of that notion.

Microsoft paid them, and for Sony, I belive the company suing Valve are the only one making controllers with back buttons.

Anyone here have experience with Grim Dawn? It seems to be another one of those games with PoE where you need to research and theorycraft the entire game's systems before being allowed to roll a character, on pain of having your gamer badge revoked.

You can play/beat the entire game on the with any character class character/combo in the entire game
Ultimate/elite difficulty changes things a little because it requires resistances and more knowledge about stuff but at that point you'd know more about the game

You can reset your skills to again really easy at a trainer basically and pretty much every combination of classes is viable. I only ever really played POE when I had my hand held playing it with my friend because it made me feel dumb trying to figure it all out because I was assaulted by too much information all at once whammed into my face.

Grim Dawn is pretty great though, at least I think it is

You can go in with 0 knowledge and have a less optimal character because you aren't mix maxing or whatever and beat the game if that's what you're worried about

My first couple of characters were basically just "I want a dude with a big mace" "I want a guy that has lightning" and I looked at abilities and winged it

Somewhere else
Unfortunate to see what happened to HellSign, game looked really interesting
From the "launch" announcement: "To be transparent the game hasn’t been profitable for quite a while now, which signals the time to wrap things up."

Just another developer who ignored the Early Access guidelines.

Frome the guidelines:
Early Access is not a way to crowdfund development of your product.
You should not use Early Access solely to fund development. If you are counting on selling a specific number of units to complete your game, then you need to think carefully about what it would mean for you or your team if you don't sell that many units. Are you willing to continue developing the game without any sales? Are you willing to seek other forms of investment?

Clearly it's not a game for you :crying-face:
I love that world and i enjoy it a lot. But for example conversations with other people feel awkward and bit robotic, cutscenes have a lot of monologue and some strange cuts and transitions that take you out of that world in a bad way. I feel that Narrative director or whoever directed Courtney during recordings didn't do best job. And that is what i meant with story presentation. I have no issue with exploring and reading documents or listening tapes.

Grim Dawn was the only Diablo-like that I've ever finished, it's really fun. I have zero experience with theorycrafting and stuff and finished the game without problems.
