Kind of disappointing that TemTem is an mmo tho.

But looking at reviews it looks like people really like the game and put a lot of hours into it. Maybe I'll give it a shot one day.

Someone that's good at computers help me out here. Am I going crazy or is Stranger of Paradise one of the most insanely awful ports in a long time?

Felt like something was really off and turns out if you set the framecap at 120, the game slows down if it drops below 90. How the hell this happens in the year of our lord 2023, I have no idea. And I'm pretty sure it still slowed down above 100 but whatever. Fine. It never dropped lower than the 70s, so I'll just lock it at 60 and have it be rock solid. Nope, now it drops to the low 50s and 40s. Just... how?! What the fuck is going on with this game? It's like it's targeting a % of the framerate cap instead of just running at however many frames a second it can put out.

Turning on DLSS makes no discernible different, as far as I can tell.

I was watching the hardware unboxed video on the AMD blocking DLSS controversy and they did some stat searching. Here are the list of AMD's sponsored games

I find it curious that only sony games seem to be exempt. But not just their 1st party games, the 3rd party exclusives they had too.

About 2/3 of nvidia's sponsored games include some form of AMD upscaling tech. Only 25% of AMD's list include dlss (and it seems to be a special deal they made with a single publisher). Also Boundary removed dlss once it got an AMD sponsorship so I mean...that's pretty cut and dry right there and to me is irrefutable proof that they're actively blocking it.

I bet it's fun considering it's from a bundle so not like you're paying full price.

Hard pass on the monthly bundle for me. I played Outer Worlds on Game Pass back in the day and had to force myself to finish it, just incredibly mid. Shotgun King I own and played. Rest has the rare nothing on my wishlist, and while Ozymandius and Roadwarden look interesting definitely not worth the whole month

PCgamingwiki doesn't mention anything outright broken at least, but i dunno how reliable that is. Fwiw, Digital Foundry said it was a good game but a technical mess even on consoles it was bad...

Hitching, targeting 60fps but never hitting it, 30FPS locked cutscenes even in performance mode. Etc... Even on OP hardware like a 3080 it still struggles. So yeah just another Koei port.

For some reason she always looks weird to me when she's dolled up like this. She's pretty when casual. But I can't shake a weirdness feeling when I see her Yakuza stuff.

I want Nonsummerjack or Aika (the JAV one) in a Yakuza game... :p
as I said somewhere else I'm pissed cause my fav model didn't pass the audition for yakuza 7.

that's the cast for yakuza 7:
  • Ayu
  • Ai Kaname
  • Kson
  • Ai Sayama
  • Kokoro Nakayama
this was the contest:

one of those other 4 should be on the final 5 : P.

Remu Suzumori should be in the game, she’s the best and she was in the 10th final contest.
Eimi won’t be, at least in near future, cause she had legal issues for breach of contract with her last agency, and got sued by two companies, she’s now in judicial processes, I doubt SEGA wants to deal with this.
PS: I post about this things on my twitter profile xD.

The one recent Team Ninja game i haven't played yet so this probably won't help but:

Both Nioh 2 (effects) and Wo Long (clouds) have (or had at launch) one setting that can tank performance like crazy on high (and the game almost looks the same on low but suddenly way less fps issues), might be worth looking for something like that.

In Wo Long at launch to get somewhat stable frametimes i had the game running in the 120 mode but locked it down to 60 with an external limiter, they mostly fixed that for Wo Long and from the sounds of it SoP might be running at 50% speed doing that but maybe not?

I've read SpecialK can help

I don't know what your system is but looking around the steam forums, people suggesting using special k or disabling ecores/using process lasso if you have a 12/13th gen intel cpu. might be worth a try, although the problem they're describing is stuttering, not an fps drop.

Managed to trim the wishlist the 90 ! Yeah, me !
...I'm not satisfied :cat-pizza-blob:

Next on the chopping block is Nier Automata. It has gained a discount hype shield and Replicant was incredibly boring. THERE. I said it :peekwaveblob:

Can't be bothered to finish any JRPG since FF12 Ys 8 but Nier Automata is a very good game and I like it a lot.

Without commenting about the story of either, as a game Automata is considerably better than Replicant.

I appreciated Replicant more having played Automata first.

I get that some people may find Replicant pretty boring, especially if you don't know what the sequel is like, but I'd agree with Durante that Automata is one of the best games of the last decade. I consider it an unmissable title, frankly.

Replicant is quite repetitive and I can see why people may dislike it.

Nier automata is one of those games that I’ve started many times and play a few hours and then get pushed aside because some new shiny game comes along. I definitely intend play it but can’t say when.

I don't want to say that people who say that Nier Automata is the best game of the decade are wrong, but I finished the first route and did not want to touch that game anymore. I generally like this type of games, but Nier didn't click with me.

You finished Persona 5 but chopped Nier A Tomato? My GOTY 2017? Let's not be hasty, my friend.

I implore you to be better than the rest of your fellow Frenchmen and give the game a chance. :flare_mobile:
  • I didn't finish P5. This would be eating at me if the prospect of playing it wasn't a worse feeling. I'm on a
    boat
    and I'm snoozing.
  • What did my fellow Frenchmen do ? (other than giving up and waiting for death)
  • Alright, Automata is back on the wishlist.

That being said, what is there like Farthest Frontier (let's say historical city builder) but finished ? I can only think of banished, but there must be more.

Nier is such a weird franchise. I remember renting the first back in the 360 days and hated it, like truly hated my time with it. I don't think I even finished it once. When automata came out I reluctantly gave it a try and ended up thinking it was amazing which was a huge surprise. So when the remaster of 1 was announced I thought I'd give it another chance thinking maybe I did something wrong or wasn't in the right mindset or something...nope it's still god awful.

I can't even directly pinpoint why. I guess I just vibed with automata's story and characters more, also the music was better too.

So there is hope :so-good-blob:

Repicant was pretentious, boring, had weak ass gameplay and the supposedly great writing seems to be mostly found outside the game.
And while I'm totally part of the weeb anti censorship crowd, Papa Nier makes far more sense than Incesto Nier.

I'm sorry. I'm team Drakengard.

Hmm, I do have a 12th gen CPU. Might be worth a shot, thanks.

Lol I'm more or less in the same situation. I dropped the first Nier halfway through and I never did that back in the day. I just did not enjoy it at all. Then the Automata hype got to me and it turned out to be one of my favorite games ever. I eventually grabbed Replicant to give it another shot, which I have yet to do...

Just FYI I tried first 30 or so minutes of Outer Worlds Spacer Edition from the humble and had no technical issues. It precaches shaders during company logos (always fun to see CPU at 90 degrees celsius) but that took less than a minute and I saw no stutters or problems in game.

I thought the game was somewhat "not great, not terrible" at launch, I gave it 7 - a bit underwhelming given the Tim Cain and Leon Boyarski being leads on it.

But I think partially it was due to playing on normal and normal being too easy. I think on the supernova difficulty it might be more fun and immersive. And DLCs are great from what I heard (they are the reason I bought the humble).

I played Outer Worlds on Switch. It was hard enough on normal difficulty. The biggest enemy was the framerate and I was harassed by it constantly.

It's an absurd argument but the game get's good after 15-20h.
You actually have to finish the game twice, and if you think the 1st route was boring the 2nd is almost insulting as it feels like it's activelly trying to make players drop the game, and only after that investment and time sink does the story and world start to make any sense, and not just be some fever dream fragments of a deranged madman, and the characters develop some sort of personality. Don't get me wrong, most of it is still nonsense but at least it's an intelligeble nonsense with depth and solid philosophical foundations.
Other than that the combat is serviceable, at best, and never gets good, there's an absurd amount of fanservice and there's good music.
