Random post ahead.
In recent years, I have seen an increasing number of people on the Internet talk about choice paralysis, or argue about backlog / library definition. (Guilty, I am one of those people). I think it is obvious that, we are not going to make it. There are so many games on different platforms and we have no chance to finish or even play all of those we interested in. As a result, many people are advocating that, for the sake of our time, we need to be efficient, be picky and have zero tolerance to mediocracy.
I think about my backlog a lot, and I wrote about it regularly here. Sometimes I felt stress when Iooking at the library (rookie number though) and the upcoming release schedule. How the fuck can I play all these games?
It took me months to realise this. It is impossible. This acceptance to reality honestly makes my heart lighter. I feel happier when looking through my library, knowing that there are so many games within reach. Meanwhile, I disagree with those people who say that we need to be efficient be picky blah blah blah... so that we can get to the next great thing. Nah, fuck the mentality. What's the fun in doing so? Most people on this forum are adults (and very European
). We think about paying the bills next month and putting food onto the table. Gaming is part of our life, even as a hobby, it is a great way to catch a breath. Gaming is FUN, and it is wrong to turn gaming into a task to go through or even a second job to manage.
Now I just play whatever the hell I want. Every game is an once in a lifetime experience. Treasure and savor the moment.
Do drop games when they are not fun though. To me, that's the way to go.
