I'll play Days Gone eventually, for like €20 or less. I'd like to get a new GPU before that too so, maybe in the next decade.
Same. I just bought Horizon, anyway. Plus, I kinda like the slow trickle strategy Sony seems to be taking. I don't play games at as fast as a rate as I used to, so it means that even after the current-gen of games leaves my non-RTX GPU in the dust, I might actually still have some "new" AAA releases to play.

I just want them to release Powerslave EX already. Also since they're doing the legwork with SS2 they should add VR support to more KEX engine classic games too, most are bound to be far simpler for that with mostly just shooting to deal with rather than all the interactivity found in SS2 on top of that aspect.

What even is "Nvidia Intro Cutscene Textures "?

The House in Fata Morgana is now the best game of all time on Metacritic with a score of 100 as the switch version released.

I don't usually care about metacritic and it only has 4 reviews, but I'll take any opportunity to shill Fata Morgana :p

Devs have the option to easily have old versions (even if they only did major updates) available as other branches, but essentially none do. Steam retains those anyway, I'm not even sure if you can clear them out.
Hey, don't call us essentially none ;)

That said, it's not nearly as widespread as it could be given that all you need to do is enter one string in the online backend.

There were bunch of Nvidia HQ textures that weren't used in the original game's intros. I'm guessing it's that?

Well you already highlighted that you do so I meant essentially none other than you :face-with-stuck-out-tongue-and-winking-eye: I could understand some devs not wanting to deal with troubleshooting people that are using older versions for mod support or something but if a person is using branches to download old versions to support mods or some other reason, they aren't the totally non-techie types already.

Cloud saves aren't quite as ubiquitous as I'd like either for how doable it is.

I guess, but isn't that issue solved simply by saying that you don't support legacy versions? I don't think most reasonable people would complain about that, if you say that the alternative is simply not offering those older versions. And you'll always get some unreasonable people that complain about everything, so nothing would change in that regard.

I feel like most companies just don't communicate enough.

Bit late, but I actually did eventually have a workaround to this I did for a couple VR games that had bad updates I had to prevent / remove. It worked with both of them (Beat Saber and Until You Fall) but not sure if different games handle their update tracking differently in Steam.

You need to make a full copy of the game folder - literally copy+paste it. I did it in the same directory for ease but you could do it elsewhere. Rename it to something so you know it's the unupdated version, and chill on it for a while. When the update hits, let Steam update your "real" Nier folder, and then rename that one, and paste the unupdated folder in and name it the "real" folder name (I don't own Nier so I don't know what it is). Steam thinks the game is updated, and doesn't seem to check periodically if it is or not (which isn't surprising, that would be a lot of overhead for people with hundreds of games installed). So when you launch it from Steam it just looks for the exe in the folder with the right name and you should be good to go (until another update).

Downloading old versions from Steam does work, but you need a third party tool to enable it, and I still had to do that folder-rename workaround to launch it from Steam (which, since it was a VR game, I think I had to).
Let's talk features.

So if you want a previous version

RE8
Mass Effect Legendary
Days Gone
Nocturne

All in one month. No chance to buy and play all 4.

Impossible with time and how long 3 of those game are anyways. Gonna go with 2 at most and those will probably be Days Gone + ME:L

SEGA and Capcom will have to fuck off until later in the year. :negative-blob:

Wasn’t there a Saga Frontier giveaway planned ?
I missed it, didn’t I ? :loudly-crying-face:

Oh and talking about releases, I really really really want Nier, but won’t have the money. It’s breaking my heart.
Next month would be Nocturne, but I won’t... Oh fuck everything.

If it's Square Enix on PC, it just means that when you do have the money they'll have patched it up. Waiting is a blessing for some releases.
Same for the console versions too. Nier's a great game, it'll still be great when you get to it and there'll still be people replaying it. It's like Deus Ex in that regard.

FFXIV players (or MMORPGs players..?) I was wondering: how are you supposed to play with kb+mouse without a 12 button mouse or nostromo? Like, how do you physically handle moving while using spells if the common keybinds are on 1,2..0 and you use the same fingers as WASD??

Yea it's much worse than the devs just supporting branches themselves. Or, in fact, Steam having a "versioning" option under games themselves we could turn on. Depending on how popular the game is it can be another example of customers having a worse experience than pirates.

Most spells (magic) have casting time anyway, so you're not gonna move around while doing so. Most tab-targeting MMOs are designed so that you can stay in place to activate a spell/ability. Moving around in combat is not needed unless when you need to avoid aoe attacks in these games.

It's been 18 months since i last played FFXIV, wow didn't think it was that long ago, but i think I'd reached a point where i had an idea of what i wanted and was trying to work out what worked best for me.
I was experimenting with using mouse for movement and kb for spells.
I was also tinkering with using a Streamdeck Mini for some commands and I was also setting up a dynamic HUD so i could use kb for movement and modifiers to roll and unroll commands on the HUD. I was moving and targeting using kb and using both mouse and kb for action selection.

FFXIV is very flexible in how you can control things and i know a lot of people were very comfortable and adept using the DS4 too.

I looked at getting an "MMO" mouse but i didn't think my dexterity and memory would let me be efficient quickly which is why i was sticking with buttons in front of me.

We have a Meta MMO thread here. Give it a bump!

Holding LMB+RMB in FFXIV makes your character move forward so I often use that when I'm doing my rotation amid mechanics. Beyond that, I try to keep all my rotation buttons close to WASD. My keybinds be like 12345, alt+1234, alt +QWER ASDF, etc.

As for spells, they have cast times and the secret is learning how to slidecast which is moving just before the spell finishes casting so it ends the cast anyways but you can move.

Yay RE4VR. Hope it comes to more platforms eventually of course. Looks like a pretty rad reimplementation of everything, not just combat but interactions too.

Quest 2 exclusives so far are pretty few and far between. Even initially big hyped stuff like the Star Wars games went PC and elsewhere.

Perhaps they're doing more of a push now, given they're doing the oculus gaming showcase thing as well, I guess we'll find out soon

Anyone played Foregone? It looks very fun but I need feedback. Cause I read some people reviews and they say its a copy and paste from Dead Cells

Not that I have any problem with it at all. But if it got a unique gameplay then I might dive in

Yep, it's me and I made sure to buy both soundtracks as soon as I woke up that day lol.
The little wins for Dino Crisis mean a lot to me. Gotta spend that cash to show Capcom I'm serious lol.
you're gonna have to buy MANY more copies for them to notice :p lol
