Yeah, going on the store page, Griftlands is going Epic exclusive. Seems like they removed parts of it in January.
Huh? Where did you get that on the store page? All I see is an update about the game not being as far along as they thought it would. Or were there other news about it on the store page?

Anyone can help, maybe?
I wanted to run a console program in Japanese codepage, used the chcp command to switch to Japanese codepage (932), and now:
powershell starts in the codepage 852 (good)
cmd starts in the codepage 852 when using the start menu shortcut or running as administrator (good)
cmd starts in the Japanese codepage 932 otherwise - resulting in \ being replaced by Yen sign and other minor inconveniences...
I have no idea what could be the cause of the above - locale is set to Polish system-wide, I've tried just about every solution google had for me - no dice...

Since you brought it up, I'm curious to find out if the community here knows of digital stores (the type of content doesn't matter) that do a good job of highlighting relevant content and interesting new releases. If you wanted Steam to copy features from other stores, which stores and features would those be?
I never use the store, but I think itch.io is fairly solid. The homepage also has some of the features that you see game devs asking for on Steam. I don't think they necessarily fit on Steam because itch is so dev oriented, but they're interesting nonetheless.

Anyways, the first section is the "featured" section, which is mostly curated titles, but I believe it does pull in some "recommendations" or move stuff around based on what games you've liked:

Then there's "fresh" which is the new releases:

Then there's a game jam section:

And after that, since I'm too lazy to put more screenshots, there's a "sale" section and more featured games below.

OH ALSO, THEY HAVE A LIST SYSTEM THAT TAKES A MASSIVE DUMP ON STEAM'S. This isn't directly related to highlighting new releases, but it's related to helping me remember new and interesting stuff I find.

On Steam, you add something to your wish list, and it goes into this disgusting, massive, non-functional mess of a list with only six major filters (price, discount, OS, Early Access, pre-release, VR only).

On itch, you add something to a collection and you can A) create multiple lists, B) make the lists private or public, C) Write yourself a note about the game, and include images or videos.

Obviously this is largely meant for curating content lists for friends/communities, but you can also use it for yourself to separate games you're interested in. It's a massively more functional and useful system to me than Steam's mess.

I don't purchase online much, but I guess, Amazon, Netflix, Deezer, Airbnb, etc. must have top-notch recommendation systems.

Klei which don't want to add achievements to Don't Starve or fix fucking remaster of Mark of the Ninja? They are the worst :steam_pig_mad:
Mark of the Ninja and Invisible Inc are some of the most brilliant games I've ever played.

What was wrong with the remastered by the way? I 've finished it without any problems.

Amazon has a notoriously dumb recommendation system, the "successes" are basically because of quantity over quality of recommendations, and usually those are direct comparisons when you're shopping for a specific thing, so that's much simpler relatively speaking. Netflix is OK because they're responsible for their own tags, and the system seems to just rely on those. Which actually makes me think of Humble Store - I rarely browse there but they usually have pretty reasonable recommendations on the pages of games, based on tags.

Losing to RNG in Auto Chess feels bad. Like, Round 3 and some people already have a level 2 hero and two offs and all I get is a lot of single heroes. :blobtide:

going epic exclusive and they don't have slots in early 2019 left :p
Honestly, after the attitude some indie devs have shown around this store launch and the delayed PC launch of Bad North because the Discord Store hadn't launched yet and they were exclusive to it, I would honestly not be surprised.

Does anyone know how you use "galacredit" on Indiegala?
I have a balance of almost $4, and I want to use it to purchase a bundle, but I don't see any checkout option that allows me to use that balance.

I've read their FAQ, it says I can use this balance to pay for an order or bundle in full, or in part, but it doesn't say how exactly.

I'm not sure how many are following the releases from Chinese developer NEXT Studios, but they are worth keeping an eye on.
They have been self-publishing a number of fun, affordable, and award-winning titles, and their upcoming games appear to continue this trend.

So far they have released the following games on Steam:

And these are their upcoming Steam releases:

The one thing Netflix does that's really interesting, and which games stores could probably try, is changing the cover image of movies/shows based on your viewing preferences.

I'm sure most people are aware of this by now, but that system is why your cover image for Stranger Things might look like any of these nine images:

It's why if you're a fan of rom-coms like Serendipity, Eternal Sunshine, and While You Were Sleeping, you'll end up with this image for Good Will Hunting:

Whereas if you like more traditional comedies, sans romance, like Arrested Development, Zoolander, and Anger Management, you'll get this Robin Williams-centric image in your suggestion feed:

You can read more about it on Netflix's blogpost about it from a few years ago:
Anyways, doing something like that, better highlighting which cover images or trailers or screenshots a store shows you based on your historical preferences, that could be a new step for storefront customization.

If you would have told me that Anthem has a real chance of reviewing worse than Crackdown 3 I would have laughed at you. I mean I knew it was going to be awful but I had doubts everyone else would agree, even after the beta. Right now it's only 1 point higher on opencritic and there's still only 17 reviews in.

This month has been wild lol.

What kind of fan do you think I am? I already played those, I want to continue the story no retread it.

I will accept FOTN yakuza on steam but only after 6

That's exactly what you'd say if you were under NDA due to porting La Pucelle, Makai Kingdom and Soul Nomad to PC
The thought of a La Pucelle port that fixes the horrible newgame+ :cryblob:

I didn't realize that's why the banners were different sometimes. Interesting. However that's a pretty huge ask for Steam, as devs / publishers are responsible for their own banners and the tagging system is largely user-based and largely unreliable. Of course that's subjective but a year or two ago when I was like "hey I think I really like metroidvanias!" I went tag-hunting and maybe 5-10% of the games on Steam coming up under that tag were what I would consider metroidvanias. Some tags are easy like "fps" but "fps" can be many things now, whereas movie genres are much more defined, by and large.

Yakuza 0 end spoilers
so why did majima go mad?
The way I read it, and the way I've seen it explained is that:

Look at Majima at the start of the game. He's wearing a kind of slavish, subservient apathy as a mask to help him recover and deal with being physically maimed and becoming the Yakuza serf in retaliation for what he did. He's basically in a comatose survival mode.

Then, the events of 0 broke him to some degree. He was more or less tortured again and threatened to an inch of his life and had to leave behind the woman he fell in love with, so naturally he goes off a bit.

However, the bravado and swagger also seem to be something of a created persona to hide the hurt that he's hiding. So whereas the Old Majima suppressed himself to become numb, it seems like the New Majima has gone full tilt the other direction into unchecked mania, because acting crazy and doing whatever he wants is more fulfilling (and a better way to hide his pain) than the old apathetic Majima

I dunno, that's what makes sense to me, not sure what's actually the "right" reading.

It'd be interesting if Nintendo starts releasing some of their back catalog onto the Windows Store.
Course even if they did, I wouldn't touch that ish unless MS drops UWP entirely. I ain't wasting time decrypting shit just so I could mod them :V

Feels nice to be back in Yakuza-land.
The Kiwami port is great, performance is great, they indeed fixed the cutscene lighting issue and it has save everywhere and autosaves everywhere.
Game itself is not as great as Zero so far, which was expected, but I'm still having fun. After only 3 hours and 3 chapters I can finally run around on my own and do some substories and mini games, haha.

Ok, so, today I noticed to game removals from Steam, the first one was Juxemon which was a 1:1 pokemon clone so I suspect that it went down PROBABLY due to a C&D reclamation or something like that, and the other one was "Where cards fall" if you don't know what game it is let me put a trailer of it.

So, what about this one? well, game was supposed to come by the end of the year 2017, it got delayed a few times, radio silence for more than 8 months and then BOOM, totally removed from Steam, which can mean 3 things.

1 - Game is canned (unlikely because devs confirmed the game was still in active development in late December last year)
2 - PC/MAC version is canned and now it's coming just on mobile (don't think so as it's made in Unity so conversions should not be that hard)
3 - this became an exclusive to another platform (Discord/EGS/Apple...) and this is why the removal (most likely option and I could see this as an APPLE timed exclusive due to the confirmed platforms)

In any case, the project looked really neat and I think some of you followed the game, so I thought this might be of interest for you.

Downunder.
The folks at the Beast's Lair forum recently released their Fate/Stay Night [Réalta Nua] - Ultimate Edition fan patch.

Réalta Nua is a version of Fate/stay night rated for ages 15 and up as opposed to the original release of Fate/SN which was 18+. Réalta Nua is Irish for "new stars". The game features voiceovers from the Japanese voice actors from the anime series, was released for the PlayStation 2 and later for download on Windows as a trilogy covering the three main storylines (Fate, Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel).

This patch is basically a collection of patches to merge the three Fate/SN routes into a single game, adding various QoL features and restoring the H content of the original release of F/SN.

- Adds English translation to the game.
- Adds HD graphics and wide mode support for the game.
- Adds high resolution Vita, PS2, and classic OPs (opening movies). The classic OP are only available at the movie menu when unlocked, while the PS2 and Vita openings play at different parts of the game as well.
- Adds an optional remixed version or the OST from the vita. In the BGM menu at the config menu, you can individually select for each track whether to use the original or remixed version.
- Restores the sex scenes, nudity, and other sexual content from the original release.
- Adds decensored images for the H-scenes.

The patch allows for arbitrary selection of individual patches so you can make it family friendly or as lewd as possible.

Alexandros Here's what I get when I go to Origin if I'm logged into my account If it isn't showing, because I forgot to snap it or somesuch, at the top will be Anthem and them promoting it with a banner.

Here is what one would see if they go to the store for the first time (I used Opera+VPN)

I will have a look at my notes as i had a similar problem with a python script i was running but don't hold your breath :(
In the meantime have you tried Locale Emulators?
Locale Emulator
There's also AppLocale from Microsoft but it's old and shonky...
MS AppLocale quick tutorial by Alcahest
Oh, thanks, I'm aware of Locale Emulator and have been using it for a few executables.
Turns out something added a rogue Registry entry, that forced CMD.exe (and only CMD.exe) to switch to Japanese locale at runtime, so if anyone runs into a similar issue, check HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console\%SystemRoot%_System32_cmd.exe\CodePage entry.
I mean, obviously
