I need to replay FFVII now lmao
Err, I don't know anymore.
I already played FF7 in French at release and didn't really love it. I'm more of a FF6 guy.
Then again the translation was already bad in English but butchered in French, so I planned for years to replay it with 'Beacause'. BUT, with this much milking, I'm not sure I'm up to replay a game I didn't love so many times :astonished-face:
  • Beacause
  • FF7R and some day R2, plus DLC
  • FF7 mobile
  • Please stap :anguished-face:

Sekiro is so much better about this than Souls. Really funny. Guess they figured the bosses are finally challenging enough to allow for quick restarts.
I wouldn't quite agree, a lot of the Sekiro fights still require you to endure a lot of tedium. My worst memory might be guardian Ape's run back, and the burning castle memory with the drunk guy where you just have to run past (which is really, really hard to do right) or ideally kill a crapton of soliders. I ended up save scumming there, because I'm too old for this sort of bad design.

I think I dropped the towel at the first big boss, the one where I had to jump from a tower level to another and skip a cinematic.
Admittedly, I wasn't up to this fight, but just replaying this short traversal and skipping the movie was a nuisance.

I honestly can't remember, but I would agree that Sekiro still has a lot of protracted runs back. DS3 was a little better in bonfire placement I think, though it had that "memory challenge" problem in its worst form with fake-outs and moves sharing the same windup with different outcomes.

On the other hand, these games' world are still so beautiful, it's hard to opt-out of them entirely. Just Cheat Engine the crap out of them. I disabled dragonrot that way for example.

The last time I played FFVII was around 15 years ago and I liked the game back in the day.

I'm afraid I'm finished with Soulsbornes. Time will tell but I still haven't played Dark Souls 3, The Surge 2, Nioh 2, and dropped Sekiro.
It's a shame because playing the levels is pure bliss, but I'm tired of raging at the bosses.

My faves are Demon's Souls / Bloodborne / Nioh by a good margin.

You edited that and I couldn't agree more. Those worlds !
I'm really sad I don't use cheats. I fear that it would just invert the issue and suck the pleasure out of the game. I hope I'm super wrong.

Not about Dragonrot though. Dragonrot can go to hell.

I like the idea of them and watching people play them while discussing the lore much, much more than i like playing them myself.
I still watch Let's Plays of the Kings' Field games, Bloodborne and Lore runs of Dark/Demon Souls... i just don't find them fun to play and "getting good" just gets tedious and repetitive to me after a while and my mind starts to wander and i end up playing something else.

I'm really sad to have skipped Nioh 2, but when I recall some of the most infuriating fights from 1 and see some hardcore soulsborne player here rage about some parts of 2... :oofblob:

My personal rankings for boss fight difficulty in Souls/Nioh games.

Sekiro > Dark Souls 3 >>>>>>>>> Nioh 2 > Bloodborne > Dark Souls 2 > Nioh > Dark Souls > Demon Souls

I truly hope Elden Ring is the hardest of them all.

Please hurt me FROM :cat-heart-blob:

Bloodborne seems a little high on your list at first glance. Apart from Orphan of Kos I don't remember raging that hard. I may have forgotten some bosses though.

I just saw the Monster Hunter Rise PC confirmation, I remember when no console maker cared about PC to even bother think about it, now we have Sony and Nintendo actively paying pubs/devs for games on PC to be delayed and/or not even be talked about,

Funny, :shrugblob:

Without DLC and awful sub 30fps...its definitely one of the easiest. But those factors made me die a lot and made me rage too especially the big body fights as frames would feel single digits getting really close to Laurence. Same with Kos too but fps was a bit more manageable.

On 2nd/3rd playthrough it definitely gets easier.

There's something comfy and relaxing about hard boss fights, especially in the Souls format. The intensity of the fights forces you to focus on the moment. The run back between each attempt gives you a bit of downtime to cool off. The repetition makes it easy to zone out. There's also something about the fake stress that leaves me feeling refreshed afterwards, though I'm not sure why that is.

I've been replaying Nioh, and when I finish, I hope Nioh 2 really messes me up. Nioh 1 just isn't hard enough once you get the hang of it.

If they don't announce FF7R for PC in April then its pretty much a lost cause until 2022.

Square PC support is garbage as usual. Remember FFXV took 18 months to finally come to PC with a proprietary development from hell engine.

Somehow the Unreal Engine game will take even longer because ofc it will.

I live for good boss fights.
Bad boss fights can majorly suck though. Getting flashbacks to Lords of Shadows DLC boss. That ist definitely in the top 5 of worst video game boss of all times. Fucking hell.

But give me a cool design and moveset and start playing the hype boss music.
etc, etc.

I do think good boss fights should be easily restartable. Multi-phase fights can also go wrong very quickly. If there's a very long phase 1 that you can do with your eyes closed, but then phase 2 kicks your ass and you always have to restart from the beginning, that's rough.

Boss fights make sense if the game is properly designed around them. I'm playing Hollow Knight right now, and it's clear that every single boss fight was meticulously designed to be hard, but also satisfying once you understand the patterns it's working with. I feel it would be better if Hollow Knight had a smarter save point system, since it can teleport you all across the world when you die and if you are not careful about saving nearby. But the actual fights are superb.

I'll admit an Atelier game as not what I had in mind with boss fights, but damn if that soundtrack isn't superb. MGR also had a few amazing boss fights (and other very bullshit ones). I do recall the first set piece/boss fight had me cackling like a maniac at the screen. It was just amazingly stupid.

Exactly! I think that mechanically, I'm okay-ish with most HK boss fights, though a few have that "you must see the pattern and get hit by it before you know how to react. Also, you have very low resilience." problem I dislike. That would be okay though, if not for some ridiculous walks back. I recall one close to the right edge of the map where you just have to ... walk for 30 seconds, because somehow the developpers felt it was offensive and would break an unspoken taboo to allow you to restart immediately.

I agree that Hollow Knight is kinda dumb about how fast you can restart boss fights. It wouldn't be a problem if you had benches to sit on just before most major fights.

If Infinite is poorly received Phil should just let id make the next Halo game. Reboot the entire thing.

At same time give Doom a rest for a while and let 343 make something else. They have so many dev teams and so much legacy ip now they have to let them be creative.

Wait this is the original Nacom listing and not the self published one that went up for a few hours last month?

Did they settle their dispute or something
"However, on Oct. 28, 2020, the Paris Court of Appeal rendered its first enforceable decision. The Court ruled that Frogwares had unlawfully terminated its contract, and so the contract will continue until further decisions are made. The Court ordered Frogwares to “refrain from any action on the breach of this contract, [and to] refrain from any action that impedes this continuation.”

So Nacom threw a half assed Steam build up for a quick buck with no achievements or dlc like the Frogwares version had. Lol wow fuck off Nacom.

Halfway through Rayman 2 PS1 now.
PS1 is defo not the way to play this game ^^; It's 30 FPS for one thing and plays really slow.

Lemme give the PC ver. a quick play with a mod or two and see how it plays...
