I was today year old when I contacted support because of the EXTREMELY important case of my Deck carrying case. I went through a deck repair some weeks ago and the appalling motherfucker from hell who handled my Deck mixed up cases and sent back a plain one without the GLORIOUS little ribbon that helps to get the Deck out of the case.
Unforgivable, unforgettable, I demanded justice.
...
No but seriously, I liked my ribbon :sweaty-blob:

Fingers crossed support is as smooth as the first time.

Super doubtful, Larian is a private company and I am 99% certain that Swen will want to remain independent for as long as he breaths. Like CD Projekt (although CDP is public, so acquiring them is potentially possible, although they did put some safeguards in place).
I think Larian will fall into the same situation Bethesda was in. Their next game will be even bigger than BG3 and take even longer to develop. Eventually they will need the resources and corporate blanket to get it done. With Bethesda Starfield is gonna be the biggest game they made with 3x as many people working on it than Fallout 4. And ES6 will be even bigger. Games take so long to make these days and they cost so much it feels like these devs have no choice but to look for a safety net. Listening to Phil last month say that a lot of QA people are helping Bethesda too so this type of blanket is something most of these ambitious rpg devs will need going forward. Its either that or they start taking bs exclusivity deals. And those deals carry way too much risk. Its unfortunate but I don't really see Larian turning down an enormous offer from MS or Sony. I would be really surprised if they aren't acquired in the next 12 months. BG3 reviews/sales will be a sales pitch and by the looks of it its gonna be a damn good one to show what they can bring in the future to whoever throws the most money at them.

Persona 5 Royal
Terra Invicta
Clanfolk
Old World
NEBULOUS: Fleet Command
Necesse
Empires of the Undergrowth
Black Book
Vaporum
Vaporum: Lockdown
Train Sim World 3 (Humble Bundle)
Vampire's Fall: Origins
Encased
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Persona 5 Strikers
Bloody Rally Show

This Steam Seal totally got away from me, lol.

Uncharacteristic as I'm a big proponent of, "Only buy what you're gonna play RIGHT NOW." Which typically translates to 2 or 3 acquisitions per sale.

Though technically a big get on that list was the HH Pub bundle, where 5 of the 7 were already on my Wishlist and 1 already owned (AtS). Just an absolutely insane deal for Strat fans.

All that being said I still went ham this time around.

An interesting knock-on effect being that 30 hrs. and a sole focus on P5R motivated me to jump on Yakuza: LaD as I was riding that turn-based JRPG high. (And likely more than a little miffed over how S/E somehow turned a mainline FF into a dumb character action game with an insulting "dusting" of rpg mechanics on the side as an afterthought, lol.)

Also took a chance on P5 Strikers, a bit more action-focused than I'd typically be drawn to, out of my sheer smitteness with the P5R world & cast.

Still can't believe how far off the wagon I fell with my wild spending spree this go around.

Kena 2 better get announced soon or I'll fucking riot.
I'm on vacation so I haven't played anything these past couple of weeks except for some Fire Emblem 3 Houses on the switch I borrowed from my brother.
I hope Capcom gives us Separate Ways soon, really looking forward to it.
And what's the deal with SMTV? My PC can't emulate Switch and I can't afford to upgrade. Fucking hell, I really thought it would at least be announced by now.

When I'm back I'm going to continue Nocturne which I bought at the start of the sale and check out Reverie. I hope it restores my faith in the franchise.

Sick of all the games moving to Unreal. I get it, but also it sucks. PC will be a massive loser on that front the more games use it. If only Valve had interest in fully staffing and promoting source 3...

Another thing on the Red Engine. It might've had its flaws, something that always impressed me was how frigging fast the thing is. In 2015 on a regular SSD loading into game or fast traveling was a matter of 2-3 seconds. Unheard of in open worlds at the time.

100% guaranteed everyone sits on loading screens in TW3 and CP2077 waiting for the story videos to end and not on the load.

GPU vendors like devs switching to Unreal though and I suspect they had quite a lot of influence over how things went in that regard.
It's in their interest to have to support as few engines as possible. Less driver work I assume.

Capcom should license RE Engine.

You can get games like Ghosts'n Goblins Resurrection, Capcom Arcade Stadium, Street Fighter 6 or Resident Evil, seems pretty versatile for all kind of games.

Clock Tower (old) will get Steam release

Sunsoft and Capcom will jointly release "Clock Tower" for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam) versions in 2023

Just pointing one thing, I really love this decision, really, it's very nice to see this old games coming to steam, but as something I said on past threads still puzzles me devs are stuck on that old ports, I mean they have 32 bits games or even better PS2 era games. Clock Tower 3 runs perfect on PCSX2 emu with 4K resolution and I'm sure the game would have wider audience and more people would enjoy them. I'm sure Capcom wouldn't have many issues to port and license those games on Steam.

PS: I know haunting ground isn't from ct saga but game it's pretty similar.

That said, day one!.

The PC Digital Deluxe Edition does not include a 72 hour head start, which would have essentially made the game’s release date July 31st. Shifting the release date – and thus communication around the Digital Deluxe Editions across PS5 and PC – came with a few complexities that we didn’t manage to communicate very well, so we thought it best to clarify it here, given that a 72 hour head start on PC wouldn't have been plausible.
Pain.

Downunder.
You get confronted with a lot of stupid shit when you release a game, that just comes with the territory, but this is still a uniquely bad take -- in my experience so far at least.
Compared to other Trails fans' takes in relation to localisation discourses, that one would seem pretty innocuous to me. It is still pretty silly, though.

BG3 already is that game, they went from 120 people on OS2 to 400 people across like 7 studios for BG3 and took 6 years to make it.
And judging from the hype, I think BG3 will easily sell 5 million in first few months, if not more. Larian will have very substantial financial pillow to rely on.

Bethesda sold itself because its management (suits) wanted payout, but Larian is not owned by suits - Swen and his wife own around 70% of it (and the rest is apparently owned by Tencent, which makes me sad, but at least Swen has full control).

The problem zenimax ran into wasn't necessarily bethesda taking longer and longer to release games (though that's obviously not ideal since they're guaranteed hits practically) it was the fact that everything else they released was tanking. Doom 2016 underperformed and had to rely on word of mouth to do decent longer term numbers at lower prices, arkane's two games were notable commercial disasters, the evil within games never really took off, wolfenstein 2 was a notable flop commercially and fallout 76's initial launch was a historic catastrophe. Despite their string of quality releases (and fallout 76) they had a several year span where they couldn't buy a hit game if that was possible.

I'm concerned about larian's rapid growth because crpgs have always been a niche genre with limited support and BG3 seems to have ballooned into a proper modern day AAA game. It may pay off with this game but what about the next one? In a world where everything has to be bigger and bolder than the last game are they gonna expand to 800 devs and a 7-8 year project now? They run the risk of growing out of control and putting themselves in a spot where one underperforming game, not even a total flop, will put them in a dire spot. And that's probably what a lot of these bigger companies are betting on. Just waiting for the chance to pounce on a desperate company.
