chances are very good that bethesda/zenimax is the publisher in question and a lot of people will break with ES6. imagine that :p
One of them won't be me. ;)
As I mentioned in the past, none of the modern entries in the Elder Scrolls series clicked with me.
What's hilarious is that, Epic keeps buying exclusives elsewhere, but if instead they spent that money internally, making a kick-ass new entry in the Unreal Tournament series, I would probably have kept, and used my Epic account. :giggle:

I had my PC for around 4 years now, guess maybe it's too early to upgrade now that I think about it, lol.
As long as you are comfortable with your performance, you're fine.
Some people frequently update their PCs. Since I don't have the budget to do so (I waste too much money buying games and movies :D ), I never felt the need to always be on the cutting edge of graphics technology, and I can even tolerate some slowdowns.
When performance becomes extremely distracting, or when I can no longer run some games, it's time to upgrade.
I did so 2 and a half years ago, and I expect to keep this PC for many years.

And no, I'll never buy anything on EGS. For real, uh, emergencies (like RAGE2 and Doom probably because I also don't want Beth's launcher either) I still have my consoles as backup. They'll deliver a sub-par experience but I'll save money by buying and then selling a cheap used copy and won't miss any of the big games. Not that they're worth all hype anyway in most cases.

I'm at work and I can't listen to the audio.
I've seen some comments about them not offering backers anything other than an EGS key, and that they will refund backers who are not happy.

What does he say on the video?

That + EGS keys will include 1 year of DLC's.

I fucking backed this thing. First game where epic really hurts me.

Can't wait for Epic to go bankrupt.

They are not even offering a DRM-free download?
You know what, I supported Gallop for his whole career. I even bought crap like Laser Squad Nemesis, Rebelstar: Tactical Command (I bought it even before I had a console capable of playing it) and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars.
I also dropped a decent amount on Fig for this game.

After this crap, he can bite me.

More than upset at Epic, I'm beyond pissed that Gallop had the nerve to crowdfund the game, and then pull something like this.

Hope people get their refunds if they want them, It's a shame to see Gollop go down this road, i was in from the start with Rebelstar Raiders on the Speccy oh well i can wait a year for it to leave Epic Access fully patched and stable. I just consider EGS exclusives as Early Access purchasing and bug-testing.

It didn't seem the most sincere video and he sounded damned miserable reading it off the prompter but that might just be my take and i love how he wasn't allowed to mention Steam by name lol.

This shit is just gonna keep happening with high profile indies, so I am just expecting it for all my anticipated games until proven otherwise. At least in the case of Phoenix Point I can still play the game on Game Pass, but that's not gonna be the case for everything. I expect Spelunky 2 to be one of the next big money-hats and I will be very disappointed.

Instead of giving attention to developers following the moolah we should look at neat games.

Refund link for Phoenix Point including backers

Hammer that shit with refund requests.

Now if you'll excuse me i'm going to panic buy everything on steam.

FUCK YOU EPIC
💩💩💩💩💩
I didn't back the title, but I took a look at how the refund process is handled and it seems like they're trying make it difficult. A Google form and it could take up to 28 days to process.

I'm not a backer... but, you can only request refund up until April 12th and "can take up to 28 business days to process.". Are they basically doing everything in the worse possible way on purpose?

Seems that Epic is getting more strict with the terms of its deals. First Metro was able to honor pre-orders and even have the little "grace" period. Then The Division 2 is being removed from 3rd party stores after launch and now this isn't even going to be able to give backer keys even if that would lessen the blowback considerably.

Yeah, like they said, Nintendo Switch Online. Tetris pushed me over the edge. 🤢🤢
Oh no, you fell into that trap! Not gonna lie, I've also been tempted by Tetris 99, but I've been holding strong. Haven't even used the free trial yet, for fear of caving too. I'm against paying for online multiplayer, and the NES subscription is a joke. But Tetris...

Someone please hold me, I don't think I can last much longer on my own 😢

i think this has more to do with volvo tbh

at least they still got their 30% from Metro pre-orders ... they would get absolutely nothing from PP backer keys AND they'd have to host the game for free for a year for (potentially) thousands of people ... not to mention the fact that they've been conducting all the alphas and betas through steam already ... for more than a year, no less

you can see why they wouldn't be too happy about just giving them thousands of keys to give out to people

Saying that they will do full refund means that they know that Epic Store isn't what people want their games on. And yet they still signed a deal with Epic to have full exclusivity

If it's Valve doing then good, they really need to be more forceful... but I don't know if the developer here would miss the opportunity to throw Valve under the bus on the FAQ: "Unfortunately we can provide you guys with keys because meanie Valve won't let us!".

What I'm secretly hoping is that the whole fig mess with investors open some opportunity to learn more about these deals.

But man... this is going to really screw (even more) any future crowd-funding.

I decided it was $20 for Tetris, and anything else I get out of it is a bonus at this point. Probably not worth it, but I pretty much try to play every version of Tetris that releases, so eh.

God those excusivity deals are getting shittier by the day. What's next?
A few things I'm hoping for:
  • Fortnite crashes and becomes irrelevant
  • Epic goes bankrupt
  • Valve tightens their ToS regarding the use of Steam for Alpha/Beta testing only to fuck off to some other store and releasing later, if at all
  • Valve hires a fucking PR person
  • Valve handles shit like that rape game better
  • Valve handles legit VNs better
  • Gaming media championing the Epic Store dies in a fire (I'm looking at you PC Gamer, especially :disapproval-blob:)
That said, I'm trying to not think of this shit too much, I don't want Epic to ruin my hobby more than they already have.

I'm really in a 'lets play games I already have instead of buying new stuff' mood right now, so those timed exclusives don't hurt that much.

Finished Costume Quest today and will move on to the DLC.
Got in the mood to continue Killer is Dead and .hack//G.U.
Want to give Vermintide 2 another chance after the first impression was a technical nightmare, but they've pushed out some big patches recently.
And of course Umineko is still an on-going project along with EDF.

Also I've started reading the chinese Xianxia webnovel "A Will Eternal" by one of my favorite webnovel writers Er Gen and I've binged a bit more than 200 chapters over the weekend. They have around 2000 words each, sometimes a bit more. So that turns into over 400k words, which is nearly the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. Welp.
Only 1000 chapters to go!

The Master Chief’s arrival on PC will happen in stages with each title releasing one by one over time - giving the development teams the ability to ensure each one is right, while giving players a chance to jump in right away, rather than having to wait for the entire suite of games to be completed. Our current plan is for this journey to begin with the launch of Halo: Reach – the fictional beginnings of Master Chief’s saga – with the rest of the titles following in chronological order thereafter. Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4 will each be available for individual purchase within MCC as they become available. And each game will evolve and grow over time with community input.
