It always boils down to workflow. The reason this tech, and Euphoria physics/animation never took off in the games industry is because they were painful to integrate into your game. Euphoria was/is especially bad. Supposedly you didn't integrate Euphoria. You gave your source code to them, and the tiny number of people who know how to use Euphoria properly would implement it. It goes without saying that most companies are not super chill with the idea of sending their game to another company to get a completely unmaintainable spaghetti code-slash-black-box physics system attached to its body with rusty nails. When I read this bit I immediately thought of those digital molecular matter tech demos.
The only unfortunate part about WOTC is that they never officially made a long war mod for it. But if you don't care about that, play it with WOTC!Should I play Xcom 2 with or without War of the Chosen ? Is it that good ? Doesn't it add too much difficulty to the game (a little overwhelmed when I read new classes, new enemies etc...). I seem to recall it being seen as a must have.
Cool, I bought a key for war of the chosen but steam keep telling me it is on my wishlist (is not anymore). It's still listed in my DLC so I'm not too fussed, but I really have to stop buying keys.
Oh, and when I tried to restore my ipad to working order (I couldn't) I nuked my Steam Guard app.
Oh no. I hope you've kept the recovery codes for all these years.Oh, and when I tried to restore my ipad to working order (I couldn't) I nuked my Steam Guard app.
Play vanilla with WOTC first. Then you can justd isable WOTC (just choose the base game on launcher) with long war mod.The only unfortunate part about WOTC is that they never officially made a long war mod for it. But if you don't care about that, play it with WOTC!
They made it for the base xcom 2 but they never updated it for WOTC.Wasn't there a Long War 2 ? Was it for XCOM 1 ?
Edit - Oh, I get it ? They made a Long War 2 not compatible with WOTC ?
Really weird, MS showed actual games and everyone was like meh, but here’s a tech demo and everyone is excited. Excuse me but wtf
No
No it did not.
Does a tech demo (for a game that may or may not ever get released) count as gameplay?Really weird, MS showed actual games and everyone was like meh, but here’s a tech demo and everyone is excited. Excuse me but wtf
MS showed games but not enough gameplay or barely any of it, all they showed was narrative or story telling ones. A supposed tech demo that's passing off as "gameplay" would generate more hype and discussion compared to any of the trailers MS showed. Honestly the only things I liked for this summer game fest thingy was Scorn (no new gameplay even after all these years, just that it's gotten console support from MS and a narrative trailer) and THPS1+2 remake. Everything else was boring.Really weird, MS showed actual games and everyone was like meh, but here’s a tech demo and everyone is excited. Excuse me but wtf

I dunno, I thoroughly enjoyed the xbox thingy. Hey we have Nintendo for it. They have weakass hardware than their competitors but made it up with software. Nintendo's first parties aren't that impressive graphic/performance wise but they sold more than Sony's.All this talk about engines, SSDs and teraflops (on other forums) really makes me miss the old PS2 console years.
You know, when there were boatloads of games being released, a lot of them AA or even A quality. When you could go to a game store blind and just have a look around and find some gem.
Nowadays, game development is so expensive they release about 5 AAA games total for each console, and half of them are Call Of Dutys.
PC is really were the smaller games at least have a chance of prospering, and some really cool new gameplay is being created.
If you think about it, hasn't a lot of new innovations originated on the PC the last decade?
The "build what you want" genre thanks to Minecraft, survival thanks to the DayZ mod, Battle Royale (bleh) thanks to PUBG and Fortnite.
Meanwhile, consoles have more pioneered the "always be climbing", "walk slowly while talking" and "squeeze through tight spaces" gameplay.
Hyperbole, I know, but isn't there at least a grain of truth that a lot of the innovations are birthed on PC and then spread throughout the industry?
I guess because a tech demo is not actual gameplay and instead influences your imagination on how actual gameplay/visuals will look like?Really weird, MS showed actual games and everyone was like meh, but here’s a tech demo and everyone is excited. Excuse me but wtf
Oh look, SE updated the DQ Builders 2 banner with review scores, must be to entice more buyers. They're probably wondering why the game is not selling well so far.
I wonder why...
Gaming exploding into the mainstream did wonders in some regards, and absolutely fucked up other ones. Everything has to be an absolute million seller or else it is a catastrophe. There’s no good in being good enough anymore. Just look at the output of Atlus as a publisher then and now. Absolutely pathetic, and there’s a big ass company backing them now!All this talk about engines, SSDs and teraflops (on other forums) really makes me miss the old PS2 console years.

I think it's because of how HD development last gen was so disastrous to many companies and now they are basically trying to be as safe as possible except in a few cases like Dreams and Ring Fit Adventure. For consoles you need a development kit to put anything on them and I dunno how much they cost, but surely they're not as low priced as Steam $100 or even Epic paying for you to put it on their platforms. And I agree with NarohDethan , gaming being really big made stockholders these days expect developers to make 10+ million sellers and you can't make an experimental niche game if you're one flop away from being laid off. Everything has to be decided by a committee or focus tested to death and barely any originality behind them. All this talk about engines, SSDs and teraflops (on other forums) really makes me miss the old PS2 console years.

an exciting announcement becoming artillery for the console war? color me surprised /spost
Well for the new Xbox you have the new removable drive.I would be more interested in say, another physical media format. If you told people in 1994 that in 2020 we would still be using disc shaped things to play console games, they might lose faith in the future.
But they’re made by Seagate, that would have given me depression as wellWell for the new Xbox you have the new removable drive.

Yeah, Nintendo at least tries to do something new, even if they are trapped under expectations on all their old franchises.I think it's because of how HD development last gen was so disastrous to many companies and now they are basically trying to be as safe as possible except in a few cases like Dreams and Ring Fit Adventure.
I'm playing XCOM2 with War of the Chosen for the first time now. Yes it's hard, but definitely doable. The new classes and enemies are really, really good.Should I play Xcom 2 with or without War of the Chosen ? Is it that good ? Oh I know, but you know, I was thinking more uhm futuristic
Because, and I'm sorry to say so, but graphics are that important in this business and what sells hardware (GPUs & Consoles) in the end. A brand new, next gen labeled triple A game needs to be as shiny as possible for the important mass market appeal.Really weird, MS showed actual games and everyone was like meh, but here’s a tech demo and everyone is excited. Oh shit, we gonna need threadripper class levels of CPUs at the end of next gen.PART 4: HOW YOUR CPU DOES MORE THINGS AT ONCE
Is "getting the game into your console through air" futuristic enough?Oh I know, but you know, I was thinking more uhm futuristic
This does strike me as the industry priming users to buy beefier CPUs or migrate to the cloud (which is what Ubisoft specifically would rather people do). But maybe I'm cynical.Oh shit, we gonna need threadripper class levels of CPUs at the end of next gen.
I expect that by that time you'll be able to get a 16 core CPU for <250€ FWIW.Oh shit, we gonna need threadripper class levels of CPUs at the end of next gen.
Not going to lie, at early 2000's I thought data would be indeed storaged in cubes like the ones you said because some stupid documentary that talked about the concept, and yes, it feels REALLY disappointingWhen I was a wee lad I really thought in 2020 we'd at least be using some transparent holographic cube to store and transport data.
I mean, it's 2020, that's straight-up science fiction territory.
As someone who just got 1gb internet after spending years on public wifi, its bloody amazing! Just having the ability to spontaneously try out a game without the download time being an issue at all, like last night I got a craving for My Time at Portia and to download took just a minute!I upgrade my internet connection from 300 mbit to 600 mbit. Still same price as I paid before
Super fast internet!!
iirc you dont need EGS to play it beyond the activation in RGL , so ultimately only just for initial download and first activation (same how Ubi stuff works there)I think I might end up installing EGS on my PC (I did have it installed at one point but later on I uninstalled it) so that I can play GTA V seeing how that is going to be free tomorrow. My sister has been asking me if she can play GTA V on my PC and seeing how I can just get it for free sort of a thing I might just do that.
they need bigger user number to show when courting publishers i guesssBy the way so is the EGS thing just going to keep on adding to GTA V's numbers and make it "sell" even more copies along with Witcher 3?
yeah, it's a real mysteryOh look, SE updated the DQ Builders 2 banner with review scores, must be to entice more buyers. They're probably wondering why the game is not selling well so far.
