Would be interesting to see how the OST works in an orchestral arrangement, never cared for the OST outside of games tbh and the amount of vocal tracks always made me think of Sawano Hiroyuki for some reason.

So brother Nier is the canon one huh. I like daddy Nier better.

I still don't get the value of Early Access on a platform without... any community features. But hey, what do I know? Just don't expect me to buy into something I can't have any meaningful input on.
An answer I got before was that the devs could use Reddit, Discord or any non forum like community to listen for suggestions, bugs and such. Not the best tool for such kind of support. But I agree, early access in a platform with no-way communication is stupid

watch that "early access period" magically last EXACTLY 12 months .........
I'm getting rather tired of all the crap developers/publishers do.

Gaming for me is a hobby that's supposed to be about having fun, and a diversion to take my mind away from my daily life.
But, sadly it has turned into an obnoxious "milking" of customers, be with with pre-order exclusive content, crowdfunding exclusive content, retailer exclusive content, multiple season passes (that frequently don't even cover all DLCs; you have to buy some on the side), microtransactions, and more.
On top of that, you have content and modes temporarily, or definitely, exclusive to some platforms, and now, on PC, we even have to deal with time-exclusive releases for certain launchers (because clearly, launching on as many platforms as possible is asking too much).

Apparently, just going to a store (physical or digital), and buying a full product (without missing out on some content) is asking too much.

I was already expecting to pretty much stop buying "big" titles in 2020, considering I have an insane backlog that would take me several lifetimes to tackle, and it's time to stop adding to it, and finally play older titles I really want to play, but haven't yet, but crap like this from pretty much every major "indie" publisher is making me simply stop caring about this hobby, or at least new releases.
I mean, even publishers like Raw Fury, Versus Evil, and Curve Digital, smaller publishers in the big picture, have jumped on this sad bandwagon of locking their titles to a launcher that, after the crap that Epic pulled with several games I crowdfunded, I'll never use.
And personally, I find the notion of them releasing their games on other places a year later as particularly insulting, since they essentially acting like they are doing a favour to gamers that use these platforms by allowing them to give them money.

I keep hearing that I should think about the developers, how I should care about their well-being.
You know what, screw them. If they don't care for me enough to treat me with the minimum amount of respect, instead of trying to "milk me" at every opportunity, and now even trying to dictate how and where I get to spend my hard-earned money on their products, why should I care about them?

Respect is a two-way street.

The news about Paradox is neither surprising, nor particularly upsetting by itself.
But, by now I have blocked on Steam the publishers who pulled this crap, and I really don't feel like giving them my money, or supporting them any further, so I'm now left with a couple of publishers (like Koei Tecmo, who is bad for other reasons, like the pricing of their titles, and their appalling DLC strategy), and not much else.

Not sure what to do with Yooka-Laylee. I love 2D sidescrolling paltformers and a lot of reviewers says the game reminds them a lot of Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze which I really liked.

Still, I have no idea when I will get the time to play it or if Im gonna play it day 1.

we all know it's purely about the big bag of cash Tim is giving them

if it was about anything (ANYTHING!) else they would've done the "early access" on their own launcher (which they do have)

I'm getting rather tired of all the crap developers/publishers do.
same ... it's one thing to grab the big bag of money ... but it's another to do it AND try to convince me it's for my own good (or just lie about "early access")

people aren't stupid ... so don't treat them like they are ...

But I thought it's about 88/12, wouldn't releasing on your own launcher mean 100/00? Why make such a deal? Whaaaat? Can't hear you over the sound of those moneybags getting dumped into your bank account....

Hi all.
Don’t talk much but that’s just me. Wanted to say thanks for all the entertainment and information. Couple of weeks ago and completely without warning I had a diabetic related fit which turned into a heart attack and then permanent angina.
Had a quadruple bypass and managed to go home a couple days ago.
Through the last couple weeks of which I have memory of about half, this thread and a couple over at resetera kept me entertained and my mind off things so thanks to you all :)

It’s a bit difficult to be at a PC screen for reasons, though I can run a hdmi cable to a tv where I am. Anyone have any Bluetooth kB and mouse recommendations?
Whew, sounds like a close call, welcome back!

To further illustrate my point about being tired of all the crap developers and publishers pull, I'd like to illustrate with another example.

Take the game Ashes of Oahu. An indie game from a small developer, who I've followed for a while, and that I purchased.
I even recently posted about it here.

I recently became aware there's a DLC with exclusive content for those who backed or purchased the game on Brightlocker.
Brightlocker. Honestly, I have crowdfunded hundreds of projects on Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Pledgemusic, Fig, and other similar websites, and I didn't even heard about this website (who is not even available any more) before this weekend.

It's lovely when you buy something, and support a small team, only to discover you are already locked out of certain content, because you have to keep track of all the crowdfunding campaigns happening at the gazillion websites available.

I still remember when indie companies tried to get people to buy their games by offering good post-launch support, free content/updates, and whatnot. Now, everything is a chance to nickel and dime people.
Apparently, my purchase is not worth crap, because apparently I should have known what Brightlocker was, and that the game was featured there.

All this makes me want is to refund my purchase, and buy something else.

I am really surprised Activision hasnt made a new Spyro game. Spyro trilogy gameplay holds up pretty well to this day and the remake looks great. A whole new Spyro game would be amazing.

Well Spyro Reignited came out less than a year ago. They're 100% working on a new title. Same goes with Crash since Vicarious Visions didnt work on CTR.

Hopefully that is true. Toys for Bob did great work on both reboots so am interested in what they do next as well.

What if this is the month humble starts with EGS games in the monthly, make an awesome early unlock and then put in EGS game and people can't complain too much.
that's probably what will happen

December is right around the corner, and epic have to do everything in their power to make steam sales numbers for those games be as low as possible

I got my money's worth with Spyro, so I wouldn't be too bothered. I bought it for Spyro, nothing more, and I'm expecting nothing from the other games.

If they are EGS keys, I will simply gift them here, and I would be out of any future Humble monthly.

Like they will give us EGS keys for games that are on both platforms? Or EGS exclusive keys? I dont think there are enough exclusives to be bundled yet.

It does seem like the time, but I still want to believe they won't do it, because the cancelations would be immense! If they have crazy unlocks in November also so that people keep their subscriptions despite EGS games, then maybe.

Yeah the early unlocks were worth it alone for me, the rest can be whatever and will only be something extra. Not sure how I will handle the EGS games, probably let them be there unclaimed just so it sends a message.

That is the interesting part, which one of those will it be the first time we get EGS games in the monthly.
Well, then it's good that I subscribed so that I can tell them why I ended my subscription.
Yeah will do the same, and ask them to clarify in the future if those will be in bundles so I can decide.

GRID unlocked for those who bought the Ultimate Edition!

well, that's certainly one way to solve a problem (you made yourself) ...

sigh

oh, it won't be JUST egs games ... it'll probably be some good steam games + a few of the egsclusive indies that are about to release on steam

I'm not sure how many are still willing to support crowdfunding campaigns (myself included), but cool looking point & click adventure game 3 Minutes to Midnight will launch a campaign on kickstarter tomorrow.

I see this more as a re-release than Enhanced remake. I'ma need to see the actual new visuals to deem remaster worthy :p
