I read this
Never! I stopped buying new games and I started systematically clearing out my backlog playing games in alphabetical order. I reached the letter M and I was going through Mad Max when I had to stop for a while due to an influx of games for review. My quest continues!
and was inspired to start tackling my backlog.
I will probably not stopping buying games, but I started the first game that I have on Steam: 1... 2... 3... KICK IT! (Drop That Beat Like an Ugly Baby)
Sadly (or not?) this game is borked on Linux (Proton) and only the first level is playable.
So I switched to 10 Second Ninja... This will take me a good while, as I am pretty bad at platformers :face-with-open-mouth-and-cold-sweat:
But for now I have actually fun playing it and it runs without hiccups :drinking-blob:

Still playing through The Surge, beat the first boss earlier today after a few tries!

I also picked The Blackwell Epiphany back up again after abandoning it for 2 years. I'm still in a bit of a Point 'n Click mood after Kathy Rain and this is the only Blackwell game that I still haven't finished.

Final Fantasy XIV - Ongoing... Still a newbie but taking a break from planning the Lalafell Revolution at the moment. One Day. Soon.
GreedFall - Scratching that Risen/Gothic/Two Worlds/Raven's Cry itch really nicely. Loving it.
We Happy Few: Lightbearer DLC - Short, Linear glimpse of madness. Will finish it tonight, it's a bit limited and not what i expected given the Trailer but i am really excited for the final DLC, "We All Fall Down". We Happy Few is one of my favourite games of the last few years alongside No Mans Sky. Love them both.

Started Unavowed yesterday after beating The Blackwell Epiphany. It's neat that it has a lot of Blackwell references, even going as far as having a character that showed up in Epiphany.

I am currently playing two games from 2005, WoW Classic and a modes version of Civ IV, the best Civ game imho. And I am doing this simultaneously because there's too much walking-corpserunning long distances for me to think the next Civ move and play it. Lol

Finished We Happy Few: Lightbearer DLC last night and have mixed feelings about it. It was too short and too linear but i can see they were trying to tell a more directed narrative which fits with their experimentation with gameplay styles in the main game. Talking about style, whooooo, it's got style out the wazzoo as can be expected from Compulsion Games.

In the end i enjoyed it and it's short enough i'm going back through to pick up some collectibles i missed. It's a bit shallow but it has fired me up for the finale "We All Fall Down" DLC which i'm hoping will be whimsical and heartwrenchingly dark to give the game a fitting send off. It's definitely a game i won't be uninstalling in a hurry. Love it.

Started playing Fran Bow on a whim.
It's fucked up all right. But also strangely charming once you leave the first area. Sort of a mental health Alice, I suppose. Indies are on fire.
Oh I can say in advance, without fear of being wrong, that I will 100% miss the subtext and ending. Heavy on the metaphor. I just hope for poor little Fran that things don't turn sordid..

Fran Bow is finished. 12 hours.
This was one helluva ride :cuteblob:

I have been engrossed, disturbed, a little disappointed by the relative lack of 'explanation', and yeah disturbed. I don't know exactly what to make of the narrative as a whole, what I know is that it was a great time and a great PnC.

Yesterday I finished The Dig. Quite a lovely game. Nice length, great voice work. OK puzzles (maybe not the bone puzzle) but I still used a walkthrough to make it easier at times.
The story petered out a bit, but all in all, a good game!

Am I wrong or was it last months challenge?

First few minutes are testing your humanity and empathy for dev. Ugly. Basic. Shit.
Then it's all kind of wonderful. Superb comedic adventure. Adorb.

Indies are on fire. I feel like I keep repeating that every two posts. But it's the truth, fam.

How can you miss this much ?
A joyless drag. Actually I still have Mario Odyssey to play and I fear this shit makes me averse to open world 3d collectathons.

Not sure if I will relaunch it. The game has exterior charm but everything is killed in seconds of playtime, replaced by boringness.

EDIT: Done!

Spent the weekend mostly playing Majesty Gold HD.
Uneven difficulty at times, but a lovely hands off experience!
The "story" is pretty much nonexistant but the gameplay is really nice.

Going thru Gears 5 with my buddy who I have played all the previous Gears games with.
Hes enjoying it alot, I still think there is no way these games should be played solo, co op is the only way I think I would make it thru.
We are about 60% of the way thru.

Finally shamefully booted up MADDEN 20 , I say shamefully because EA is constantly taking this series one step forward and two steps back lol.
Since I follow the NFL, I always say I will also have my own season going to mirror the real season , welp I am 2 weeks behind but I played the opening All pro game and had a blast. Arcade finally felt like Arcade mode and the x factor abilities some players have are cool, has some NFL Blitz, Fever throwback feelings. And yes I will be blocking roster updates now that I have AB locked in lol. I know I am terrible, but I remind you the Patriots are just as terrible lol.

For those who dont follow the the NFL, have fun looking up Antonio Brown. but dont say I didnt warn you. ha ha.

Been playing a ton of the open beta for CoD Modern Warfare 2019 (especially the ground war mode) and I currently have mixed feelings about it.

Things I love:
  • New engine is on par with Treyarch's engine.
  • FULL PROPER CROSSPLAY AND CROSSPROGRESSION AT LAUNCH
  • Sound design is good shit
  • Weapon XP system a la Titanfall 2 (No more having to level up your rank to unlock the attachments you need, thank god!)
  • Pre-match entrance animations like in the Uncharted 2 beta. More FPS MP games/modes need this.
  • 64-player ground war sounds cool on paper....
  • BUT the execution for ground war is very rough. Its way to chaotic for 64-players and not in a good way thanks to how so many killstreaks are being activated during the match.
  • STILL can't choose audio and text options independently
  • Spawn system still fucking sucks and its even worse in ground war since there is a chance that an enemy will kill you asap once you spawn at what point you chose.
  • Weapons sometimes have no recoil and bullets sometime miss targets.
  • Performance isn't perfect, I have experienced frame freezing when I have started the game this morning. Also, the game will freeze a bit sometimes during gameplay.
  • No skins for operatives :( (my personal nitpick)

I am willing to give the game a chance, but man, I fear that the macrotransactions will be the worst in the series. I hope that the BR mode will be as fun as Blackout.

I have also been trying out games that I won at ResetEra such as Super Mega Baseball and Serious Sam Fusion.

Cube World! Played the EA/Beta last night and it's great. It's Cube World but with more and some polish.
There's a couple of minor issues which i'll have to report but nothing game-breaking and i can see myself playing the heck out of it over the years.

I'll give it a few more days and then go back to Greedfall.

Blasphemous is a game that features gameplay that I would describe as good. The story is great but the lore and associated art direction are magnificent. The digital artbook is a MANDATORY purchase.

Played and finished Dear Esther last night. I didn't like it very much (not only because a girl with that name broke my heart a long time ago) but the music and visuals are excellent.

Started Halcyon 6 again today. I really like that game.

Timothy and the mysterious forest. Great game in original Link's Awakening style, but some of the puzzles are too much trial and error. Currently stuck in the water palace, waiting for the developer to give me a hint how to continue.

Gears 5. Gotta say, at the moment, i'm enjoying it. Kait is way more interesting and JD makes a better asshole antagonist. Only on act 2 yet, but i can say robots are just as bad here as in four.

The Coalition should make a skiff racing game because every time that mountain comes up in chapter 2, i want to launch myself off its peak carving up the side on my way down.
