Another Christmas on my own, pretty much my tradition for the last decade, I used to be all "I don't care" before but it was all just trying to act tough. The only chistmas traditions I've tried to hold on to were gifting steam games to friends but last year after I tried and didn't get any back made me sad, sure you have to give without expecting but still. So this year I'm just going to eat chocolate and play games.

My point, you everyone should fucking keep the people close to you and don't be a shit like me who let everyone drift away.

That was a wonderful thing you did sharing your Christmas spirit with others! I'm so sorry that your generosity was never returned in some way. Even if not in the form of a gift, sometimes just hearing that it was appreciated and that your kindness and friendship meant a great deal to someone can help.

I do understand that pain. There's been a bunch I've sent both offline and online over the past couple years and a couple I never got a thank you even. I never want folks to feel that they have to give me a gift in return because not everyone is able to afford to. I was in that same position for a long time myself, but a simple thanks goes a long way. :)

I do hope that you have a wonderful Christmas! And not everyone has drifted away. While we can't be there in person, many of us do enjoy your friendship and are glad to have you here! :photoblobheart:

And you're absolutely right! Folks should never be afraid or ashamed to share their struggles.

We all have our dark moments, where sometimes it's like a hole that you can't dig yourself out of. The reasons we're in that spot aren't usually the same, but the pain it causes sometimes can be. Having a thread full of folks that will offer support or do their best to cheer others up is tremendous. It's been so helpful to me and hopefully for others as well.

I owe another huge thank you to lashman for pointing out this thread to me not long after I joined. Stop hoarding all of the thank yous lash! :face-with-stuck-out-tongue-and-winking-eye: :blobhug:

I often wish I could help people more, or at all. I just feel so fake if I would give any advice since I am often in such dark places that I neither believe in good things nor do I even know what is good. At best my words would be empty and at worst outright harmful being the wrong advice.

What I can say is I do really wish the best for everyone here on MC, you are bloody awesome! So I now declare cat gifs as the official seal of support for everyone struggling.

Don't worry or feel bad that you're not able to share advice all of the time. Being in here, offering support when you can and even just sharing your own stories can help more than you think. At the very least it can help show folks they aren't alone. :cat-heart-blob:

And I second the motion for cat support gifs!

We had a school shooting in the country early today. I wonder what drives a 11 year old kid to do such thing. We had a very similar one three years ago, almost to the date.

RIP to the victims.
That really ties into a thing I've been reading up a lot more about : abuse and a global parenting failure crisis. I've been dealing with a large burden myself and the distress from seeing how clueless even professionals are and have been during my childhood is something that is a lot to bear with.

The fact that parents most of the times have no idea how to support a child and raise it, that there is such violence to the way they do it that neglect, abuse, shaming and other terrible ways have become the norm to a terrifyingly large degree is horrifying. So when the kids are bullied, when they feel that there is no hope and no way out, the ones in the deepest place do horrible and unforgivable things.

I wish people would look at the root cause of shootings, on top of gun control.

The transport strike in France has literary destroyed two potential life mates for me! Hurts so fucking bad. First went bad because she lived in the suburbs and we couldn't really see each other so it went bad. The other one, I picked her up in the other side of Paris so she would come to my place and spend the night, we would cook and all that good stuff... but the pain of trying to figure out a way to get back, first we tried buss but too full, then tram but had to wait so long and when it finally came it was also too full but we got in, just after one stop she was all "nah I'm going home" and yeah not getting anymore dates.XD

My self-esteem is at rock bottom now, thanks Macron.

How the hell does one get over years of heartbreak? They say what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger but I feel like it only gets worse every time and harder and harder to get out of the "dark pit".

Im stressed out all the time it seems like. my job stresses me out and honestly its more me putting the stress on myself more than anything. ive been looking for a better job for months and cant get any replies which makes me feel stuck. im trying to move out on my own as well but i feel like i cant afford anything without a new job. in fact there are quite a few things i want to do but feel like i cant with a better job.

with stress comes one of my only coping mechanisms which is to drink which in turn has given me a gut. i already have low self esteem when it comes to that so that just makes it worse. i went to an urgent care place last week for something and they were more concerned about my weight and high blood pressure than for what i was actually there for.

most all my friends are married with kids and while that isnt something i personally want i feel like i get left behind sometimes with where they are in life compared to me even though they all tell me they love that im not like them in that regards as they can count on me to be the fun one when we are hanging out go to vegas or whatever.

basically im like

all the time.

I guess I'm going threw another thing right now.

So I kind of wish that I can do a "reset" of my self to what I was like 4 years ago.

By which I mean I have a lot of health issues and dealing with some of them can be annoying.

My right ear has a couple of issues, I have not gone to a specialist to see what issues I have with it.

I think it was in 2016 when I noticed that talking on the phone with that year was softer than my left ear, in 2017 I noticed rumbling sounds when ever I would lay on my right side (by rumbling I sort of mean hearing loud noises like my heart beating type of sounds, but not on my left side. 2018-2019 I had swimmers ear that I was able to get fixed (?) By seeing a doctor. At the end of 2019 I noticed that I may have tinnitus. It only been in the last week or so that the Tinnitus seems to really be bothering me and last night I could not sleep because of it.

Now in 2020 I seem to have some dark/purple vein like thing in my skin next to my ear cannel. Well it's in the part of my skin that leads up to my ear and not on my actual ear itself.

I don't really have money for medical expenses and I'm only 24, so this does not look good.

And this is just one of the series of health issues that I have.

Prior to 2016 I hard had if any health issues.

You've got this! The lengths you've gone to try to correct your finances is incredible and inspiring.

Can't wait to see the amazing PC you build on the other side of all of this after it settles down. You deserve to have that peace of mind and be able to enjoy things without worrying about how much you spent. :cat-heart-blob:

We've got an Apex championship to defend too after all! :face-with-stuck-out-tongue-and-winking-eye:

Job hunts can be so soul crushing and I'm sorry to hear it's been going that route for you. I know you've probably heard it a thousand or more times at this point, but keep at it! Eventually someone will realize that you're someone they need and hopefully it will be a place that is less stressful or at least offers ways to help deal with stress.

And when it comes to the feelings of falling behind friends and family.. that I understand fully. While your friends are most likely being honest with you when they say they appreciate you always being there, it doesn't really solve the problem. There's no easy solution to fixing relationships and finding love, sadly. I wish there was. I would really like to know it too.

Much like with the job hunting though, just don't give up. As long as you're trying someone will come along. I'm sure of it. :)

You'll start to notice more and more minor changes and pains that weren't there before as you get older, sometimes they can sneak up on you quickly. But it's not as horrible as it sounds. I know the way I described it is a little frightening but it's usually never anything serious, more annoying than anything.

Still it doesn't hurt to get yourself checked out when you're able to. It's always better to stay on top of that stuff just in case. Also a change in diet or a little exercise can be a huge help too if you aren't doing either already.

I do hope that when you are able to see a doctor that you are given a clean bill of health. :smiling-face-with-smiling-eyes:

So right now I sort of feel "empty", this does happen from time to time and I do eventually get over it after a while. I have made some changes since August of Last year when I was going through a lot and it basically felt like I was just wasting myself away at a dead end job and not doing anything else.

The issue now has to do with my overall heath and how I am not as healthy as I use to be. I think in the last month or so I have lost some of my hearing. I can still hear stuff "fine' but stuff does not sound nearly as vibrant as it once did (or as much as I remember it). By which I mean it sound like if some done turned the volume from 100 down to 60-80. I can still pick up soft and "quite" sounds, but my main issue seems to be with much louder sounds and not being able to listen to them as well. Stuff like base does not sound as well as it use to.

I was scared that I had this one disease, I am going to go to my doctor next week and talk more about since some of the stuff that I was feeling in my ear was not just hearing loss but also some other sensations and I would think that I might also have some other issues. I do have somewhat or a chronic condition of getting ear infections a lot and I think I went with more than a year with summers ear before finally going to the doctor simply because the smell was just too much for me.

I do wonder if I will ever end up with anyone, I have been single all of my life. There have been some girls that I have liked over the years but I doubt that any of them liked me. I don't go out too often so the chances of meeting some one are kind of low. I have thought about using stuff like online dating but I don't think that would work out. I was sort of under the assumption that Tinder is what a lot of people do for online dating now a days and well I doubt that I could hold much of a conversation on there. Not only that but I do feel like I would run into people from highschool and well I have not really accomplished a lot in the past 5 and a half years since I graduated from high school. I live in a rather small town where you do run into people/see familiar faces type of a thing.

Maybe I will try online dating or something like that once I get a car again in the summer seeing how that would let me be able to drive over to the next town over (30 min drive) to meet up with people.

In a way it's sort of embarrassing for me since I am 24 now and I still have not engaged in lewd acts and yet it feels like everyone else my age has. Well at least I don't have to worry about catching something that way.

As someone who just deleted his Tinder account and his OKCupid account and his Bumble account, do not try online dating buddy.
It's just gonna suck any and all confidence right out of you because it's very shallow.

I can't really give you any tips on that front, but i think pursuing some goals in your life and getting out more are the best chances you have to meet someone, as well as having the guts to talk to them when you meet them of course. I know how it is, but just don't give up!

It's Friday already, and it's been a rough week for me.

First, my car has been grounded. It's the raining season over here and its wiper is broken. The mechanic diagnosed it and the problem was the wiper machine, so I bought the part ($35) to be replaced another day. But then, he found out that the wiper blade is also problematic and need to be replaced. That's another $40 down the drain. He's going to bring it to my apartment this evening, hopefully that's all there is to it. Second, I'm having a Google Ads Exam this weekend, so I've been spending a lot of time to learn everything about it. This led to some complexities, like it affected my performance at work, and I virtually have no time for leisure. Moreover, I also received a freelance job at the start of the week. I need to finish it by next Monday, and so far I've only finished like 40% of the task. There's also the issue with my 7-month son who has been sick since last week. He's getting better these past couple of days, so I guess that's something.

Hopefully, everything will be settled by this Sunday, so next week will be much better for me.

Yeah that's how it usually goes, just delete and move on. Just take it as a nice memory. There will be more and better ones.:)
Yup, the key is to keep trying. There’s no shortage of geeky girls as I was led to believe.
And we still need that dating thread hahah
