After a day with my monitor working, again I got a black screen, with no image, and I just wouldn't get any image at all.
I tried removing and re-inserting the cable, but it didn't work.

I had an older HDMI cable, still sealed, that a TV operator once left here, and I tried it, and so far it's working.
Hopefully, the problem was indeed the cable.

Just to be sure, I updated my Nvidia drivers, and... the installation of most items failed. 😕
I tried installing it again, using the very same download, and during the second attempt things were successfully updated. 🤔

I'm really not liking this growing number of "odd" things occurring.
I sure hope my graphics card is working properly.

As I said on Twitter, weird this is a piece of news today when ownership of the domain was transferred 2 weeks ago/last week.
And at this point, so long as Specter keeps getting to work on the game, I don't care who... outside of a select group of companies/people; helps bankroll it. so long as it's still coming.

True. The folks in my regional community are having multiple accounts to buy games cheap in other regions.

This shit needs to be addressed sooner than later.
I mean, I've done cross region stuff when it was easier. But that's because Steam didn't have a store in my region with prices that made sense. I'd bet that a lot of that cross region buying stuff is people in the same situation and if that's the case, then instead of further fucking up regional pricing for people like us who live in places where we can't afford to pay US prices, then maybe publishers should start thinking about giving people prices they can pay. Otherwise it's going to be back to piracy for most people, and that will earn those pubs even less cash than they get now...

Yup, and it's only getting worse with more publishers ignoring regional pricing altogether in some (or most) regions.

It's such a weird concept to me to have multiple/new accounts and buy single games in them or whatever.

I guess some people don't care about their library as such.
Indeed. But from my observation, they don't actually use 1 account per game. They simply have a 2nd account in a certain cheap region.

But still, I don't find that appealing.

I already have to many accounts and passwords to manage. I'm happy about every extra account I don't need to create.
Having two seperate Steam accounts sounds like a nightmare from a library pov to me.

Also, stupid question: But why do they even need those sellers? Wouldn't a second account + a cheap VPN service do the trick for them too? Or do they also need a "foreign" CC or PayPal account?

Seems like Windows 10's May 12th update (KB4556799) is having issues with some users, between BSODs, audio issues, getting stuck with a temporary user profile and more. For those that have the option to defer windows update for X days (not sure if Home users have that or not, since I have the Pro version), I recommend using those options (in Win 10 Pro there's options to defer feature updates and quality updates, this one is considered a quality one).

Looks like it bricked my Mum's computer. Permanent black screen, got a call from her this morning. Happened once before and leaving it off and unplugged for a few days fixed it but it seems to be an issue with HP all-in-one computers and windows updates. I did disable windows updates after the last time but windows has a habit of turning things back on on it's own. If it doesn't come back eventually, the only way to fix it seems to be to short the bios battery.

I bought Wreckfest and started playing the career mode.

Let it be known that a driver called FunktionJCB rammed into me multiple times; a heinous act for which I shall seek retribution. Bigly.

No but, seriously. At first I thought the game had some sort of "invasion mode" and had to double check wheter I was playing online or not. But no, apparently they just pick user names from the playerbase.

I´ve been playing Terraria non stop since the update, so good.:blobmorning:
The update looks great. Too bad I "beat" the game on two separate occasions and have no desire of playing through that again. I loved it, but it's so long.

I'm like 99% I have backed up my map and my character data... but last time they had changed they way worlds are generated you basically had to start over... otherwise most of the new stuff wouldn't even spawn.

I am not sure if it's possible anymore, but you can transfer stuff to the new world. That way you don't need to have to start over entirely

Never played Terraria really before, always took it as a 2D Minecraft clone and always went with the latter when I got a feel for a game like that. Yes I realise it's much more than that and some day I will give it a genuine go!:D

I had to start over because Journey is a new mode, farming is not that bad, you can store every single item in a new menu on the inventory and you can make infinite copys of it, and you can change difficult at will, I´m playing with normal difficulty while doing stuff, and on Master when killing bosses.. You can fast forward and stop time, and choose between dawn, noon, dusk and midnight,
you can increase or disable the spawn of enemies and change the weather. Its pretty chill so far, I stoped just before going to do Plantera, I need some sleep.

Yeah, Terraria is ultimately very different from Minecraft.
Sure you "mine", but you do so for very much RPG upgrades, chests with gear, consumables, bits and bobs to build your base... which is far more useful now, as it was little more than a cage for NPCs (to unlock in a million ways and act as merchants, mostly); but is now more needed as you need to take care of your little guys.

Aaand... I bounced off pretty hard from the "classic" game. i've already played it in full twice, I can't muster the courage to do it again.
But that's what Journey mode is for! You can just cheat when you want to, and go back to even hard mode when you want. The flexibility is fantastic.

Plus it's even more convincing for me that an "Easy mode" in Dark Souls or whatever is not at all what's needed in videogames, we need player tools to outright cheat when we want, while still giving us the choice to push the game to its hardest point when we wish.
Just fucking around with numbers would do absolutely nothing for me in Terraria. I like the extra starting items, being able to disable ennemies, change time at will, or even enter godmode if I want to (even though I don't).
That's accessibility. Not "take 50% less damage".

As you said, they need a payment method in the foreign country.

It is not a big deal. I have several, because of smurfing.

I haven't played Terraria since 1.1 or maybe it was 1.2. It was a long time anyway. I really want to jump back in again, but I have lack of time and too many other games to play >.<

The Mafia 2 Remaster and the Mafia 3 something will be releasing soon. As has already been mentioned, Mafia 1 is getting fully remade and is coming in August. Mafia 2 is getting a light handed remaster and is coming today. It's already up on PSN in some regions.

Then there's Mafia 3, and that's more mysterious. If you look at SteamDB, Mafia 2 hasn't been touched. But Mafia 3 has a patch in the works. The game hasn't been touched since October 2018. But 12 hours ago, they started pushing changes to a beta QA branch.

I'm assuming Mafia 2 Remastered is gonna be a separate release. (Knowing 2K they might have an upgrade path for existing owners.) But I think that perhaps Mafia 3 is getting a few tweaks. The Mafia 3 Definitive Edition store page for PSN gives zero indication as to what they might be changing. We'll know more soon, I guess.

That's really interesting, as some videos popped up yesterday from Mafia 3 DE it seemed like the standard version with DLCs, however, it's difficult to know only by watching some random videos, sure hope they figured out how to fix mirrors, lighting and maybe a few minor tweaks here and there.

The one I can't wait to see is Mafia 1 remake, damn god, those pics looked AMAZING.

If the Steam version is any indication, Mafia 3 Definitive Edition is literally a Mafia 3+DLC bundle. The question is whether the patch (which will presumably apply to all versions) has gone live on consoles yet.

Yeah, that's the thing, if there's indeed a patch, I think it hasn't been deployed yet on consoles prior the release.

That's funny, especially considering I barely played the game, so that FunktionJCB was probably better than the real thing. 😛

The early versions ran like a slide show on my old PC, so despite ordering the game before it was even sold on Steam, I didn't rack up much time with it.

I really need to give it a go one of these days.
I usually like Bugbear Entertainment's games. Yes, I even had fun with Ridge Racer Unbounded. 😊

It's largely the Gamescom trailer from 2016, and most of Mafia 3's cutscenes are prerendered videos anyway.

This is why Mafia 3 does that weird thing where the time of day aggressively changes when you're driving or walking up someone's driveway or whatever. It's the middle of the day, and then suddenly it's night. It needs the current ToD to match the prerendered cutscene, otherwise it would be too obvious. Except it left a lot of players like, "Wot is going on?"

IMHO, the pre-rendered cutscenes are a symptom of the game's troubled development. It's very common for troubled games to use pre-rendered cutscenes. It slashes so much QA work at the cost of low quality and issues down the road like locked framerates and such.

Any patch for Mafia 3 is likely to focus on fixing bugs and making design tweaks, IMO. (I dream of pacing improvements, but I'm doubtful.) They already tinkered with the graphics post-release to make the weather effects a bit nicer and stuff like that, and the game is from 2016, so it doesn't really warrant the kind of "let's change some materials because we can" remastering older games get.

Proton 5.0 is really cool. Nearly all games seem to work with G-Sync now for me on ubuntu.
The downside is: I can only have one active display or G-Sync stops working (second screen is a normal 60hz display). This still doesn't make Ubuntu viable for gaming for me. But it is really getting better and better.

It's crazy that updates to a major OS have become synonymous with general fear and panic that it will break your devices. Maybe Microsoft should switch back to their old "waterfall" style software development. Even if things were slower, at least you didn't have to pray that things will continue working each time you clicked update

I can't even begin to understand how the most recent CCG are handled. If you truly have to stagger, you launch on mobile, then go everywhere, you don't do a fucking separate client (Magic) or make it exclusive to some store (Gwent). At least Runeterra seem to have handled things smoothly.

Forced updates and 10 being ugly as hell are why I am never touching it as long as I can run 7.

I watched Digital foundry's W101 video and though the WiiU's bad frame-rate is fixed, replacing the second screen isn't easy. Looks like the frame-rate of this Switch version is just as bad as on the WiiU though.

So my graphics card is starting to die but its a pretty old one (rx 480), but it is still under the 3 years warranty msi advertises. TURNS OUT the warranty coverage starts from manufacture or when it was sold to the distributor. NOT WHEN I PURCHASED IT. Confirmed with 3 different reps. Awesome. Last time i ever buy from msi ever again. Scummiest thing i've ever heard in my life.

Whats the bloody point of a warranty that might be void by the time you buy the thing? That is so fucking scummy

It's tuesday people, so pardon my French : it's Newspeek time :steam_cleanseal:

Very slow week from my point of view on new releases, feel free to point out games I could have missed. Also I'm applying the lashman rule : if it's anime, it's trash, don't even touch it with a stick (therefore no mention in my Newspeek). If you don't agree, blame him, not me, obviously :steam_cleanseal:
