I've literally put my corsair keyboard (with removed keycaps) under the sink to clean it with soap and an old teethbrush. Then dried it up as much as I could with an air blower before putting it inside my kitchen oven at 50ºC with the fan on. Extreme situations require extreme measures and maybe someone dropped a whole plate of food over it.

It's they keyboard I'm writing this with.

I spilled OJ on my old Apple wired keyboard and the keys got stuck. I put it in the dishwasher on a short wash (no detergent) and it worked perfectly for years afterwards.

tl;dw: Valve contacted the creator of Portal 64, asked several questions and when he said he used Nintendo's proprietary software then they asked him to stop the project.

I just recently bought a new keyboard for the first time after 15 years or so, but I did take my previous one apart entirely 2 times to clean all the individual keycaps and the board itself.

One thing I have to say for my new mechanical keyboard (also my first one) is that this seems much easier to clean, since all the keycaps are easily acessible and removable.

The filters don’t always work, which is the crux of my argument.
Maybe I'm looking at this too much from a programmer's lens, but to me, if the filter fails, then that's a bug, and it seems much more meaningful and far less redundant to simply fix that bug rather than fork the entire store and then having to make sure everything stays in sync.

He probably means the games can be mislabeled and use tags that don't really apply to them or not use tags that do apply to them, Valve can't fix this like a bug unless they go through every entry themselves rather than leave it up to the developers and player base to assign these. Though I don't see how it's so bad to see a game that's not for you and simply skip it (or make that assumption because you don't like its cover/description/big chested icon etc.), again unless we're talking about the idea of the potential of these things being shown to people it's not suitable for (minors), that's certainly something to fix for all.

The filters don’t always work, which is the crux of my argument.

And I don’t think it stigmatises it at all. It just acknowledges that not everyone wants to see giant titted CG women when they’re browsing the store.

Neither me or my girlfriend have a puritanical view of sex or view it as shameful. At the same time, we don’t want to see stuff that’s objectifying and overtly horny when we’re looking for stuff to buy. It’s happened a handful of times despite the fact that I’ve switched that stuff off in my settings.

Separating out adult content allows you to better enforce sensible parental controls and allows adults to browse and consume that content privately and safely.

It’s clear that privacy is important to consumers of adult content, judging by the fact that these privacy settings seem to be leading to more sales of porn games. I think allowing people greater levels of discretion is important and will lead to even more sales, rather than relying on a filter that works well most (but not all) of the time, and kind of feels like a compromise solution rather than a comprehensive one.
Fair enough. Still think separating out the porn games, and that's what we mean here let's be honest, since 'mature'/'adult' content catches a lot of other non-porn games - like Witcher, Cyberpunk, etc stigmatizes them and ostracizes their player base instead of just keeping it all in one place with better restrictions or sorting/privacy.
Imagining being caught on HornySteam? the shame and embarrassment would be incredible.

Gears collection is slowly becoming the Bloodborne PC of Xbox lmao
It's not real until I can launch in on my PC

Finished my first game of 2024. Took about 13hrs with the Jill run.

Had this in my backlog for many years. I bought it with Zero which I played a bit a few years ago.

Never played it before but I did play the OG on the PS1. It had to of been one of the first games I played on the PS1 alongside some sports titles.

Glad I finally got around to this because ofc the game is incredible. The difficulty, puzzles, inventory management, boss fights and length were all perfect. Its like a nice blast from the past in a remake fashion. A balance of nostalgia with a modern touch. A few areas were completely blanked from my memory tho like the courtyard area. Anyways always a pleasure to play old school Japanese games like this from that late 90s + early 2000s era. You know a video game is great when you beat it and immediately want to do another run. I'm kind of thinking about it with a harder Chris run now.

And it looked really fucking good on the Deck too at 60fps. I did need to use ProtonGE with it otherwise cutscenes didn't work. But yea the shadows, textures and even all the little particles/bugs/effects throughout the game really shined on the Deck screen. Kind of crazy to think this was a gamecube exclusive for so many years. And this is a remaster of a remake lol. Capcom always doing the weirdest fucking timelines.

Honestly I'm surprised they didn't remake this yet in the 3rd person like RE2/RE3 recent form. It would be even more terrifying and clostrophobic than RE2 remake was imo. I mean it has to be the next RE thing from them right? It feels too soon for them to remake 5 and 9 is something that will probably cook for a while.

I would also love for them to release all the originals untouched on Steam. Maybe just do a complete PS1 + PS2 collection with everything including Code Veronica + Outbreak for Steam. We need it for legacy/preservation purposes just like Konami did with MGS games.

It's funny because I've beaten this game like 10 times and haven't played as Chris a single time, having only 6 item slots kinda bothers me lol.

Holy shit Final Fantasy 4 gets so much better once you get a spellcaster with more than 5 MP.

Like IDK if the whole "Return to Baron" stretch of FF4 is some master-class of Tone & Gameplay integration, or just plain old Sadistic game design.

Like at least a good 6-12 hours of gameplay where your party consists entirely of Glass Cannons with no utility whatsoever, and a string of Puzzle Bosses where you have to beat them in a very specific precise puzzle-way or DIE.

Been Erasing a Dragon's name and getting close to the end now.
Story is fun but you can feel the edges where this game was scaled back from a full on Yakuza title. Still a great time though. Kiryu....uhhhh I mean Joryu is a ton of fun and when you get a lot of upgrades the new style really kicks ass. Some damn hard fights in the Coliseum by the end too.

Hopefully Infinite Wealth is as good or better.

For keyboard cleaning I usually just take some cotton swabs and 95% Alcohol to clean the caps and frame. Otherwise it's more about mindful prevention than anything else. Like trying not to eat near the KB, always have clean hands, cups only go in cup-holder and never freely on the desk where it can be tipped. Ashtray away from keyboard, and even if I have an itch I'll recline in my chair first to itch away from desk space lmao. Of course you can't stop all dust and dirt this way, but goddamn if it doesn't help. When it's deep clean time I'll pop off the caps and use compressed air outside.

「Echo」 Ushi-Gozen in FGO as Avenger
Yes I saw! Another Raita for the collection. :heartblob:

Although I'm a bit "meh" on the Avenger designation. Would have preferred Alter Ego or something with a bit more utility.

I spilled OJ on my old Apple wired keyboard and the keys got stuck. I put it in the dishwasher on a short wash (no detergent) and it worked perfectly for years afterwards.
God the worst I ever did was spilling half a bottle of Red-Wine on my old Logitech Mechanical. I was in despair because I had literally got it brand new that week. First thing I did was pop off the keys and turned it upside down on a towel. Then I had to spend like the next 4 hours with tweezers, cotton swabs, and tons of rubbing alcohol to evaporate all the sticky wine.

Perseverance and quick thinking (despite being half-way to the moon drunk) ended up saving that keyboard. It still works to this day some 3 years later. I only replaced it for aesthetics reasons.

(This was also the lesson that ingrained in me to never have a open container on desk, CUP-HOLDER ONLY.)

Decided to hold off on getting FF7 Rebirth on PS5 and just wait for PC.
I think Im gonna pre-order Rebirth (the twin pack, costs the same as Rebirth, but comes with Integrade, which I don't have).

My PS5 is currently dusting down (also my Switch for that matter) and the only thing on the horizon for any of my consoles is Rebirth. Might as well undust my PS5 at the end of february.

My PS5 is also collecting dust, tbh I may just sell it and buy it back when GTA 6 releases

After Rebirth, there is nothing for my consoles that I know of except for GTA 6 which is far off.

I don't count games like Metroid Prime 4 despite being announce due to no date.

Beginning to feel a Blobber itch. Etrian is top dog but a little bland. Undernauts is ugly. Refrain maybe.

On a related note, is Stranger of Sword City Revisited really easier than vanilla ? I remember dropping the original because it was frankly masochistic. Not that hard if you were willing to put dozens of hours just bashing the same mob for XP, if I remember right. Which I was not.

My PS5 is probably collecting dust on someone else’s shelf, on account that I sold it.

I sometimes consider grabbing a digital slim, but then I remember how little I used my old one. I’m more likely to put a bunch PS4 games on it than buy new PS5 titles.

FFVII Rebirth is the first exclusive that’s tempted me, but I think I’ll wait.

Just went through the granblue demo and I'm shocked at how bad it feels to play. This is yet another game made by so called action experts yet just like with FF16 it fails to understand that all these nonsense overly flashy attacks hurt the game because you can't see what an enemy is doing or process anything. The game in general is total sensory overload because on top of everyone doing anime attacks at once (with damage numbers flying everywhere) you also have 5 friendlies (party + annoying mascot flying around) talking over each other and I think enemies do too, it was too hard to tell.

It's so baffling to me that FF7R got this stuff right and its combat was created by a monster hunter guy whereas these other games were made by DMC and Platinum devs and they make these kinds of rookie mistakes.

edit: I have other more minor complaints with granblue too. The game is 1080/60 on PS5 for some reason, it's VERY clearly a ps4 game going by the visuals. The overall movement feels a bit too weighty which made some of the small platforming things a bit cumbersome. And it's yet another jrpg that doesn't have full voice acting even though this was being made with gacha money from the parent company, you can afford to have full VA come on now.

I haven't played it so I can't really comment, but just a quick correction: Platinum got removed from Relink 5 years ago. I kinda doubt the current version of the game has much of their input left.

True but the director of the game left platinum so he could still stay on as director of the game. I'm not sure how many others did that but as director he had the ability to change up things like this so I'm blaming platinum DNA for this :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Meh, I can wait
Depends how interested he is in the game.

Im still on an untouched retail copy of FFXVI, still regret buying it day 1.
Not very. Remake was fine, but really clunky and super linear. Some parts had the same gameplay freedom as a visual novel.

No, I meant the pain of having to sit on the sidelines while everyone is enjoying the RPG of the generation. Hopefully for your sake it really is only a 3 month exclusive but I think we both know it won't be, just like how we're past the FF16 exclusivity now and there's still no PC version.

They added/expanded some courtyard areas on the GC remake back in the day. All the Lisa Trevor stuff is new too.

Do a Chris knife only run.

I'm kinda enjoying Assassin's Creed Syndicate. It's the familiar formula but the open-worlds elements seem manageable, they haven't overwhelmed me so far.
It's a lot of fun. Evie in particular has a few more stealth skills in her skill tree than Jacob, so I played most of the game as her. Also she's more fun as a character too.

I said RPG of the generation not action game :p

We'll see what DD2 does but so far it looks like it's trying to be virtually the same game again and the RPG stuff in DD1 was extremely weak. In typical capcom fashion it was a highly combat focused game and any towns or some other thing it had merely served as the bare minimum to get you back into fighting.
