Like a Dragon, like pretty much everything SEGA has been releasing in terms of console ports (in particular by the Yakuza team), is a day one purchase for me. :)

But, not to sound "ungrateful" (especially after recently complaining about the lack of SEGA ports), but skipping from 2 to 7 is a bit leap.

Does this game have many connections, and is actually a sequel to the previous ones, or, while sharing the same universe, is a new series?
It has a completely new protagonist and is the start of a new storyline, a soft reboot of sort.
If Judgement is to go by, it will share some lose connections such as places reoccuring or a side character making a minor cameo but that'll be about it.

Horace, it's interesting looking. Something about it still turns me off, not sure why. I'll watch some video I guess. Still not getting that humble choice though.

Can I just be honest, and say I would much rather have Judgement, or even Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, than Like a Dragon? :giggle:

Yeah, kill me, but I prefer beat'em up real time combat, to turn-based JRPG combat.
Plus, the premise of Judgment appeals to me, especially the investigation elements.

I fear we may never get these two, or at least, Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, on PC... :disappointed-face:

edit: since someone reccomended it, Lobotomy corporation is 50% off
That coincides with the English version re-translation that just went live today.

I guess the Korean dev got ripped off when they hired an outside firm to handle English translation duties and the people they contracted just plugged it all into Google Translate leading to a horrible finished product. The game is such a cult hit that some fans worked together for almost a year to re-translate everything. I've been using the pre-release for a while and the results are astounding. Esoteric & confusing game systems are now legible. The tons & tons of writing by way of creature lore and between mission cut scenes, now a joy to read.

Here's some general thoughts I posted a couple weeks ago.

At -50% + English re-translation, there's never been a better time to dive in.

I just want Yakuza 3-6 on Steam too so I can remove them from my PS4 wishlist. :p

Yes PSN has a wishlist, no you don't get any sort of notifications about the games on the wishlist.

Even Switch has a wishlist that you actually receive email about when games go on sale.

Ima just warn you, the investigation elements are the worst thing about the game. They are plain bad pixelhunting with not much else to it.
I'll see for myself, if it ever reaches PC.
I have decades of experience in pixel hunting. :p
I think I can take it. ;)

I want Judgement so I don't need to get every other Yakuza too (I've had my fill after 1 & 2 on PS2 and 0 on PC) just cos I want the one with Virtua Fighter 5 :d

Yeah I'm weird.

It also has Fighting Vipers 1 and Moto Raid which is a less known Model 2 racer so that's neat. Idk why SEGA's not doing a nice PC/console Sega Ages range like they did for Nintendo systems with the older stuff since they have such nice quality ports to work off and they could probably apply the work on more games.

Makes sense to release 7 at the same time in the west since it's a soft reboot, and then pump out the rest of the back catalogue out in order, as time allows.

I imagine Yakuza 7, 6 and Judgement are being done by QLOC, given their familiarity with the dragon engine, and Lab42 will do the older games. Purely speculation on my part of course.

Unless of course 7 is done internally, there's probably a very small possibility of that as well. Maybe the RGG team has expanded with some PC specialists.

Hopefully that means an announcement for Yakuza 3 through 6 is imminent because it's been a while since Kiwami 2 and I have no interest in jumping ahead to 7. Speaking of, am I the only one irrationally annoyed that they're dropping the numeral from the title for the western release? lol Also, using the Japanese title as a subtitle is kinda dumb.

I feel like it didn't make sense for Y7 to have a 7 to begin with since it's its own thing and a new storyline but I still laugh at the idea of this game's western name basically just being "Like A Dragon²"

I suspect that this post has been proof-read by at least one lawyer.

Sorry, Marty Stratton, but I don't like you for making me read a wall of text with some sentences starting with "It is important to understand that", or "It's important to note at this point", etc. Basically, all there is to it is what was written by Mick Gordon in the first place. He was right to “doubt [you]’ll work together again”. You felt obligated to produce that big wall of text on a public forum to explain the inconsistencies of your very talented collaborator. That is not a nice thing to do. You must be a very "nice" and professional (let us say, professionally nice) person to work with, but also not an actually very nice person to work with.

Resident Evil 7 : Biohazard

Biohazard 7 : Resident Evil

It's the same as in this situation but vaguely similar?

Is that a new one? I own Driftmoon on GOG but never played it because it is an hommage to Ultima 7 and I haven't played that either.
It's a patch. Play it, homage isn't remake/retelling or anything. And it's probably not as good as that for its time :D

I liked what I played of Driftmoon but I played the alpha pre-release and then couldn't bother doing it again for the full version since I'd have to restart to make sure I get the most of the revised early content also but I was quite far ahead so yeah. But it's been a while now so maybe I'll play it with this update some time.

The dev deserves support though, for stuff like Notrium back in the day and this.

Not exactly, in Japan it seems that it was treated 100% like a numbered entry and a complete sequel while here in the west it seems like they want to make things clear that while this is a sequel, this is also a soft-reboot, that's why it's not numbered as Yakuza 7 here,

I let him know that Chad had started work on the back-up tracks but reiterated that our expectation and preference was to release what he delivered. Several days later, Mick suggested that he and Chad (working on the back-up) combine what each had been working on to come up with a more comprehensive release.
Skimming it over twice/three times, it seems that the work took much longer than intended even with the extra time and Mick may have begrudgingly agreed to allow the Audio engineer to work on them asap and deliver it sooner rather than later, even told him in advance on the plans and everything. I think this is a complicated situation and unless Mick has the conversations recorded/screenshots and weren't like what that producer said, then it's tough to blame it all on ID. Maybe if that CE didn't need to have the OST ready then all of this could've been avoided

I have read through it quickly and feel the same way, it seems like a complicated situation. I wonder why it had to be released right there and then but it seems to matter to them given that bonuses were tied to the delivery date.

I posted this in the GOG thread but I'll post it here too:
So the GOG DRM problem is being handled. Looks like they've fixed the a problem (That i didn't know existed) with Dungeon Siege and they've acknowledged and are working on the Deus Ex Problem

So the way things are going, there are increasing concerns that Shadow is going to drop Windows 7 support in a functional way. That is, the client just flat out no longer works since today. We'll see where things go but they can kiss my subscription goodbye if they pull such a dumb stunt.

"Hi, we provide ever-evolving hardware for people who can't afford it or run old PCs"
"Also, we no longer support an old OS because clearly, a streaming client is rocket science, good-bye 30% of the PC market"

That's strange, I don't really see why you would do that with a streaming client. I really don't see what it would need to do that you can't do on 7.
(It actually makes slightly more sense for a streaming server, since MS added some useful capture APIs in 10)

That's pretty much my beef with them. There's very little reason for this. In the meantime, their recommended fix is to update to Windows 10.

Flippant doesn't begin to describe it.

Is the Dungeon Siege/Deus Ex problem the steam api calls that Squeenix apparently left in the game that needed changed/there is some form of DRM as it was delivered to gog and it's still in the game?

Yeah I believe so that's the case
The Dungeon Siege one I THINK is fixed and the Deus Ex one is still being worked on but I would have to look into it more for rooting around forums
