Man... I beat that Super Neptunia RPG game and it is bad. I'm not talking the regular "lol, neptunia sucks," but you enjoy it anyway if you like the series. This game is just bad. The story sucks, the combat sucks, character interactions are super short, all the traversing sucks, the platforming itself is janky, the story had terrible execution, it's only 9 hours (thank god), and it's just flat out boring.

I really want to play something, but I don't know what. Nothing new for a PC gamer, but at the same time I have the strangest desire to play some emulated goodness. Was something lost that I need ? I mean I'm far more interested in Seiken 3 than in its remake.

There are two ways: The first is by using the SKIM64 utility included in the latest release.

Contribute to Kaldaien/SpecialK development by creating an account on GitHub.

Run the utility and follow the prompts, it'll inject SK for any Steam game you have.

The second way is the manual way (which I prefer since I used stuff like dgVoodoo2 for some games as well, and sometimes it won't play nice with SK)

From the zip file, copy SpecialK64.dll into the directory of the game executable and rename it into dxgi.dll for 64-bit DX11 games. Use SpecialK32.dll for 32-bit games. Run the game once and it'll produce dxgi.ini you can edit to hook into ReShade and so on.

I'm forever stuck coming in second or third place. I can build a decent team but every time it starts nearing the end I either fall apart trying to adjust my positioning or I get terrible draws no matter how many times I reroll and get left with barely any level 3's.

Still enjoying it quite a bit regardless.

I see a very major flaw with underlords. If shit hits the fan early enough its pretty much mostly a complete lose. You get these guys not even halfway that have matching status with 2 and 3 stars. lol

Also beginning to see repeated setups too.

Question:
Anyone know anything about the status of Prototype 2 on Windows 10 (preferably with AMD cards)?

As mentioned before I'm on a open world binge and Whitelight's retrospective video makes it looks really sweet.
But PCGW mentions how bad a port it is and Steam Community seems brimming with people with problems...

Nope, can't get it to run. CTD just as the Radical Entertainment movie starts just after confirming a coup[e of things. Tried disabling Human Input devices, unplugging any flow through USB devices, downloaded some missing files that weren't missing, ran as administrator, ran all the compatibility modes etc... No luck.

Edit: Got it working, it's the CPU cores causing the issue. Even though my Ryzen 1700 has 8 cores, the 16 threads was causing issues. Had to turn off "cores" 8-15 in steam. Anything more than 8 cores and CTD.

It's hard but you can come back. In fact I would say going down to ~50hp with a losing streak and 5 interest is about as good as getting ahead early on. Not all 3* are created equal, and some units fall off late game too.

And I mean, there are some meta strategies. Of course you will see repeat setups. Mages are pretty much all the rage right now, but it's not the only thing. You'll probably never see dragons. Balance patches will address this regularly. Before Mages it was Hunters and Warriors. Inventors can go all the way thanks to Gyro and Techies being good endgame units. Everyone ultimately is building towards adding them, Enigma and Tide, etc. Tide and Medusa counter mages so you might see them regularly too.

Yea I think this game ain't my cup of tea with the stupid RNG. Who cares if they got a special name. I can't wait 20 rounds to maybe get one more. I go like 9 rounds before I even see a repeat of ones I have.

Try to see what other people are building. The pool is shared so if 3 people are building the same unit, the chances that you get a third one is low. Your level also determines the quality of the units being offered, so if you are still level 5 or 6 you might not see as many tier 3 or 4 units as the people who are investing in levels. On the other hand, if you level quickly and your opponents are still on their early game builds, you might not find those extra tier 1 units you need to level either.

I mean, yes, it's also RNG. Maybe you are just on bad streak so don't fret too much.

My win above is just like inky says above: I constantly was losing and was down to 53 health until things clicked and I suddenly never lost and everyone kept losing to my army. I was the killing blow for four of the people playing with me.

And to note I didn't have a 3 star until it was down to myself and the other remaining player. I played with around 8 two stars and 2 one stars for most of my success. It took five more rounds of us fighting back-to-back for me to wipe out his remaining health since he had 76 health when it got down to just the two of us. At that point I spent like crazy trying to just constantly buff up and that's when I got my remaining two stars and the three star.

It was also the first game where I completely changed my plan during my losing streak. I went from planning a knight and savage build, but drops were pretty garbage and I was up to like four knights and a couple savage when I also started getting some warriors. I had success with them so I ended up just slowly bringing in more and as I did I would sell off one from my previous plan until after like five rounds I had just replaced most everyone.

I think warriors are a real solid build if you're struggling. They tend to come up frequently, they tend to be beefier with good damage, and their trait is real solid once you start stacking them. It also helps you can get a bunch of secondary traits matched up like what I did.

I've had the worst luck trying heartless, demon hunter/demon, and hunter builds. I also find at least one or two others will go heavy on scrappy and inventor builds (which I don't find strong in the end game typically) so you often have to fight to get those in your drafts to level up.

I did play one game where someone had a knight build that just stomped everyone. If you can get the max bonus from that you're also likely going to do just fine.

Luck. And since it's a shared pool for drafts going for heroes that others aren't also working towards helps a lot. But I've had a 2 star batrider on the second round because I got one in the first round and two more popped up in the draft on the second round. I felt kind of silly having a two star so quickly, to be honest.

I have seen very quick 3 stars and I'm always amazed. Oh, except pay attention if they're druids. If they have two druids and both at 2 stars one will get bumped up to 3 stars each round because of their bonus.

Open task manager, go to the details tab, right click on steam.exe->set affinity and deselect everything core8 and above. That forces prototype2.exe to run with 8 cores. Actually there is an early mission, Operation Flytrap, that required me to force prototype2.exe to only use one core to complete, though that one seems to be the only problem one.

It's a bit of a technical mess but when it works it's fine.

Sessions in Underlords are way too long. Even if people that one dude who is plowing everybody from start. Becomes a snoozefest later on. I read though a turbo mode is being implemented.

Yeah, you're definitely not alone.

I really don't see the appeal of DOTA at all.
Give me a good single player game with a nice story, or a fast and quick arcade game (shmup, beat'em up, ...), and I'll give it a go any day of the week.
But these F2P, online multiplayer games are not for me. Especially since you get a lot of idiots antagonizing and insulting other users, and I really don't have the time, or patience, to deal with that.

And, I take a look at auto-chess, and I can't say it appeals to me either.
Weirdly, if it was actual chess, I may have given it a go (I used to play in chess tournaments when I was younger ).

Durante if it's not too much trouble I want to ask something that I brought up over at the discord in regards to 30 FPS;
I played Crash Team Racing NF recently and before that the original PAL game, and their frame rates were smooth. Thing is some games I played such as Hyper Light Drifter looked annoying in 30 FPS, as if dragging one's feet through mud when it came to the presentation.

So how is it that 30 FPS games are able to output such a smooth visual? Is it a combination of frame pacing and triple buffering? If so, or not, could you provide your input on this please?

The original version of the game was replaced by the Enhanced Edition, and that is the version that the publisher requested to be removed from the store, but as derExperte previously posted, the new version of the game is now also without a buy button, so people were fearing it was removed from sale.

Well, according to the community manager from publisher Focus Interactive, it seems this is the result of a "bug", and the game is not being removed from Steam, so it should be back soon:
