Before I forget I want to give one last reminder for everyone that there's roughly 19 hours left to enter to win one of the two $60 giveaways and/or enter for Devotion. It has also occurred to me that I don't believe I ever mentioned that the giveaway also covers preorders.

Unrelated to serious wargames, but any idea about the name of a squad based game, adapted from a tabletop game, with WWII setting. I think the units are represented with like flat cardboard on the maps. Pretty sure the physical game got supernatural expac but not certain about the digital game.

Kinda Achtung Cthulhu in spirit to me.
Apparently it was answered but on a related note, I haven't played it, but if you're interested in a boardgame with WWII / Cthulhu setting you might wanna check Fireteam Zero Fireteam Zero .

As we seem to have encouraged some lurking War Gamers to come out from under the clipped-corner counters. Slitherine are having a "Full Day of Presentations" on the 11th May on Twitch. Announcements, Interviews, Gameplay Sessions the lot.

At "Home of Wargamers 2021 Live+" we’ll be showing you all of our games scheduled for release in 2021, including the highly anticipated Warhammer 40.000 Battlesector, Starship Troopers: Terran Command, and Distant Worlds 2.

BlackRainbowFT Turns out Li Kao meant Shadows Over Normandie which hasn't been converted to a video game either but their Heroes of Normandie is on Steam but a bit abandoned. DevilPig were going through a bit of a hard time a few years ago but seem to have sorted themselves out now which is good to see and being reminded of Shadows Over Normandie is no bad thing either!

I wanted to play Tannhauser so badly but missed the boat and have no mates who'd be interested anyway. Sad Panda.
:grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes: sorry. I reacted to his message without reading the rest. Funny thing how you mentioned Tannhäuser too.

I haven't played the original game but I did own a copy of Tannhäuser Field Ops (bought it at some boardgame con in Paris). The idea was really cool but it's perhaps the most frustratingly fiddly game I've ever played (and I do own Roads & Boats). It taught me to be really really cautious before buying a game designed by Christophe Boelinger... a bit like I tend to avoid any game by Ignacy Treviczek (I can't remember how to spell his name).

I was completely unfamiliar with Shadows Over Normandie... so I wouldn't have been of much help!

Edit: I just checked. It's Ignacy Trzewiczek. I always seem to have a hard time with Polish names.

Downunder.
SaGa Frontier best debut of the IP on Steam, numbers aren't as high as other S-E IPs but sure it's a good sign for adoption of this classics.
It's kind of sad seeing Scarlet Grace has such a low all-time peak. The game is an excellent RPG and my choice for GOTY 2019. It deserves a whole lot more.

I think it goes deeper than that, DWU is a simulation at heart whereas Stellaris is a well-balanced, finely polished board game. I wish I could get into DWU enough to appreciate its depth though but I feel like no matter what choice I make, the automation is superior.
Yeah, I can totally appreciate this sentiment.

There's some games that you simply have to be willing to give your entire life over to in order to appreciate all they have to offer.

It's my bread and butter honestly, yet I still find myself only skimming the surface of most all of them.

I can dig that there is so much more on offer with any random selection. But my stupid ADHD, and perhaps more money than time, seem to prevent me from taking full advantage of all them.

It's a bit of a drag in that I feel like I'm not wringing them for all they're worth, but at some point I have to accept that I'll get my fill along the way in spite of never truly mastering any of them.

I guess you could say the same about many genres & franchises. How many 'leet Souls players are out there? I'll never be one, but I certainly recognize it's a thing.

Guess I just ultimately need to be good with my personal level of engagement, even if I'll never be a superstar along the way.

I think we have a few ccg players here. If I want to retry the genre, Runeterra or MTG ? Or Shadowverse ? Maybe Teppen ?
Too many games :sweaty-blob:

I didn't really like Fe and dropped it midway, so I'd probably put that lower on the list. But I haven't played any of the others, so I have no real basis for a comparison. :grimacing-face:
I’ve only played Unravel
Lovely art style but otherwise very standard fare expected for a “Limbo-like”

I’’d guess Unravel 2 would be similar 🤷‍♂️
Pretty much the only one that I've played fully and I loved it!
I've played Unravel and Sea of Solitude. Both good. Unravel would be my first pick. SoS is good, more of a walking type story game dealing with mental health. Unravel was very charming and fun.
I am really hating Lost Bastille in DS2. Like every weak 'dungeon' in DS1 is better than L. Bastille

Fe and Unravel 1 should be short.
1. Sea of Solitude
2. Unravel
3. Unravel 2 (not bad but more of the same)
4. Fe
Just to add to the opinions.

I played Unravel some time ago and the other 3 in January during my EA Play promo time. Some quick notes and my playtime for each, without doing any kind of collecting anything for "100%".

1) Unravel - Very cute platformer with some great art and music, but not that challenging. Took me 5 hours.
2) Sea of Solitude - Didn't really "click" with me, but I still liked it. It is a very personal game dealing with mental health. A little less than 3 hours.
3) Unravel 2 - Has the coop focus but I played alone. Same style of the first, but since I didn't play them back-to-back I also really liked it. 4 hours without doing many of the optional levels.
4) Fe - It was... decent but got a little boring. Not that good progression in terms of abilities, etc, with I think only the first two being story-locked and the rest requiring a lot of collecting glowing things. Less than 5 hours.

And that's it. Happy gaming.

Figured I would mention a game I think someone mentioned off hand forever ago that I have now been following because it looks awesome that now got their big indie dev wish and was accepted on GOG and is listed as coming soon for them!

I think it looks really cool! Can't wait for it
It's also coming to steam

It reminds me a lot of like the original Ultima, etc

For the Super Retro Fighter shmup I actually misread the Early Access info. It has a regular arcade mode with an upcoming roguelike mode.

It's pretty nice looking.
I wondered when someone would mix rogue-like into a shmup. Definitely wishlisted, though it is on sale :kissing-face:

Seconded. It's a shame that Scarlet Grace did so poorly on PC.

Oh man, going back to old games I haven't played since I was a kid sure is something.

Back then I didn't understand a lick of English... for a long time I even believed that "Game Over" meant "You Lost" (which was pretty confusing to me, especially after beating what I believed was the last boss/stage of a game).

Anyway, this morning I played a few levels of the original lemmings and... in my mind a gigantic lightbulb started to shine so brightly that it burst into flames.

That's a freakin' PAUSE button (paws, get it?). When I was a kid I thought they were weird thought bubbles... 'cause you know, when you press it you then have time to think? Wow.

Lotta reasons
  1. SaGa Frontier actually got a release in west and was decently popular back then thanks to demo disks and game magazines.
So when the remaster was announced, people knew about it (unlike Romancing SaGas)
  2. Strong word-of-mouth from niche fans thanks to SaGa re-releases from 2017. More people know about these games thanks to them.
  3. Timing with one of the Nintendo Directs.

Reached chapter 9 in FFVIIR yesterday. It'a decent fun good game, but not as good as I expected reading critic reviews and goty awards and such. I do know that there are fans of the original who didn't like the Remake or did like it, but didn't enjoy it as much as they thought, as it is right now I guess that's the group of people I might be part of in the end.

I know there is a divide between people (both who have and have not played the original) in how much they like the Remake. I've read someone even called the Remake a sequel or reimagine of the first game for some reason so I'll see where I end up.

I did the Kickstarter and play the beta a little, been holding off on playing it a lot more during the beta because I liked it so much. Can confirm its great, and the dev is always very informative.

The interactive recommender is quite good. I have recently dusted off my wishlist (without using it), and I have decided to have a look at it afterwards: everything that remains on my wishlist appears among its recommendations. If I set the "age" slider to 3 years, Obra Dinn is there. If I set the "age" slider to 1 year, "There is No Game" and "Naheulbeuk" are there. If I set the slider to 6 months, "It takes Two" is there. Next time, I need to dust off my wishlist, I will blindly trust the interactive recommender, and forget about all the games which are filtered out by this tool.

I'm going through my habitual Get-into-Dota-2 run. I'm amazed at the polish of this game all over again but boy is it scary imagining having to perform with real human beings.

Will finish Ys V today. It was a SHORT game, even for me who want short games. Wondering if I should combo and start VI or play something else. There is always the risk of a burnout, however short V was.
But then again I should start something short or medium, Nier release at the end of next week. So starting Yakuza 0 might not be the best move.

There is also, but I'm sure you remember, the cartographing soft talked about some days ago, Grid Cartographer (by Arulan IIRC)
Though the more I think about it, the more I suppose you need a dual monitor setup.

So sexy !
